Man of your word, promise a Canyon video and come thru. Handy idea, now if someone would come up with a spin on filter adapter ! Thanks again for the video and have a dandy weekend buddy !
@fondupot fumoto'es drain a little slow as well. working outside in a breeze i learned the messy way to use a 2 inch pvc pipe cut to fit from the drain valve to drain pan. just get her started and grab a quick coffee.
i put one of these on my Canyon for the same reason you did, oil tends to shoot out as far as the passenger wheel, it got pretty annoying constantly cleaning up oil from my garage floor and having to pour oil from my drain pan back into a jug, with this i can just let it drain into a 5 quart bottle and take it to get recycled. only thing thats a little annoying about it is its a slower drain then if you just pull out the drain bolt, but that leaves time for other things while you wait when i change my oil i also tend to drive up my drivers side wheel on a ramp so that the engine is leaning towards the drain side to get as much oil as possible out
Me exact thoughts. It does take a little longer to drain, but I find that if you start draining the oil. You can go up top and swap in the new oil filter, and top off your washer fluid, check your air filter, and by the time your done, the oil is drained. Totally worth it for a clean and easy oil change.
The only reason I'm hesitant to put one of these on my 2.8 Duramax is on those, the plug points straight down, and even stock it's already the lowest part. If they'd put the plug horizontal, I'd put one of these on without a second thought. I do wish I'd known about these before I put an EZ Oil Drain on the transfer case in my Jeep, since the built-in hose is even easier to route around the skid plate on that.
FYI. I think the link to the version with the retainer cap links to the M12 x 1.25 plug, not the m12x1.75. Which I just tried installing and it didn’t fit.
I regret buying the Stahlbus valve. The thread into the drain pan is so short compared to the original drain plug. The valve only counts 3/4 turns into the drain pan, where the original plug counts 8. I’m scared the Stahlbus will come out after a certain while. I tried to get in contact with the manufacturer, but they told me it’s not possible to extend the thread. I wasted 30€, but it’s worth using the original plug.
Sorry to hear that. I have no regrets. If torqued properly it shouldn't come loose. If you really feel like its going to come loose, you can always add a bit of removable thread locker on the threads to really lock it in place.
Lmao, why does thread count matter in this situation? Is it sealing properly without any leaks? Yes? Then thread length is irrelevant here. Its not as if drain bolt is going to come loose if properly torqued. For the purpose of drain bolts function, length is not important as you're gaining or losing nothing by increasing or decreasing its length.

Stahlbus recommends draining the oil after a drive once the oil is hot otherwise all of it might not drain
Yes pretty much any time you do an oil change the oil should be warmed up.

I have some more canyon stuff scheduled in the next couple weeks too. 👍🏻thanks for watching. Have a great weekend as well.
i like the fumoto drain plugs
Yea they are neat too. I’ve never used one tho. I might try one out for the heck of it. The only downside of this Stahlbus is it drains slow.

Yea that’s a downfall of the diesel oil pan I guess.

Thanks for letting me know. I removed that link. Amazon must have changed the listing. You definitely need to use the M12x1.75 fitting.
