Gary should appreciate the wood steering wheel, originals are hard to find and command $$$. I think its one of best features of the early SWB cars. The "lenkrad m.holzkranz" was an option for the 912 in 1966. Back in the 80's in a Porsche restoration body shop, we had a customer with a knarly scar on his crooked nose, at the time I was in my early twenties and had a wooden wheel on my rusty 68 912. I cant recall the exact words, but said to the effect, young man, I would get rid of that steering wheel immediately, pointing to his nose, 32 stitches 3 surgeries etc etc . guy nearly died in an accident with a wooden wheel. That haunted me, funny, I actually updated said car to a Carrera look, body and interior with black 3 spoke leather , what was I thinking? , probably sold that wheel for 50 bucks at a swap meet. In 1968 I think the US highway safety council passed a law requiring softer materials for the 1969 models onwards , wood was out. Anyhow if you are still reading, I haven't wised up, in fact have thrown caution to the wind , just today I found myself ripping around town in my 66 with the original wooden wheel , speaking of which, I will try that oil you mentioned in the video, mine could use a little light sanding and refinish. Happy new year Dave! Be Safe and keep us viewers informed on Gary's Car. Its inspirational. The Devil is in the details. You strike me as someone who just sticks to it and gets it done! Cheers- Dave over on the east coast
What a fantastic job you’re doing!! Love the channel! Watching in New Zealand, I’m at a similar stage restoring my Irish Green 1965 912, keep up the good work!!
Love this content, what UA-cam was made for! I have a 70T coupe in resto now, wonder if you can share any content on fitting complete new electrical harness? I hear it’s tricky 🙂👍
@@MattHill-o4f hi 70 is not to bad Though the tunnel is the fight. Has a square tube for harness to slide in front to back of tunnel. Everything else is just colors. A good color chart is a must. I have a 88 coming for a burnt harness change. I’ll show that one. Will only have more wires LOL Thank you
Excellent!!❤ beautiful work, can’t wait to see the car all finished!
Dave …. Episode 8 might be your best yet… the fans are raving about the steering wheel. Truly amazing work !
Enjoy your videos, especially partial to the 1966 912 info you’ve shared with me. You’re doing super work on everything, thanks for sharing

hi David, great job, why you don't painted area under rear grille in satin black and the rear lid bracket?
