Factory sunroof on a 1966 Porsche 912 , you don't see that too often. A well optioned car, Excellent candidate for this level of restoration. Great work sir Bustamente! I imagine that project took a lot of coordination and patience, not to mention funding , The last few images of the car what appears to be as received in the fenced in lot painted polo red or some shade thereof shows what you had to work with. You brought it back to life for sure... you got to be proud of that accomplishment. Hats off! I'm sure your customer is grateful.

Great work David. My thoughts are if it is possible to use a Porsche 914 structural and mechanical parts, obviously with some major work and then to fit a Beck 904 body?. All the best.

Hey there! I am getting ready to install another one also. The one I got was from Pelican (URO). I always like to handle things like this before I install them to familiarize myself with them. I realize that this is under a slight vacuum since it is post filter. I stuck that thing in my mouth, blew and sucked in the round end, and it leaked terribly out of the o-ring seal both ways. Like the hinge was in the wrong place. I ordered another from Amazon and it sealed up tightly. Thanks for taking the time to show what is involved here, and check those "new" parts before you use 'em!

In 1976, bought a three year old 911T with CIS fuel injection. One cold winter night I was trying to start the engine while the car was parked in the garage. The front end of the car faced the wall in front of me. The garage door behind me was open. I was having difficulty starting the car, turning the engine over quite a bit with no luck. All of a sudden, I notice a flickering yellow colored light reflected on the wall in front of me. I immediately turn around and, to my horror, see flames coming out of the backlid grill. I'll spare the rest of the details, but several years later, a guy told me that Porsche knew about the problem and made a running change to add what he described as a flame arrestor in case of a backfire. He also said Porsche would have fixed my car had I gone to them instead of an independent mechanic. It was my second lesson in the downside of owning a sports car. My first lesson was in a 1962 Austin Healey 3000 but that's another story altogether.

Great video. I'm in the middle of having my '78 3 liter rebuilt. Where are you sending the fan on the 3.2 to be restored? I've had the fan and housing vapor blasted on my motor, and would like to send them out to be restored and Cerakoted. I'm in northern Cal. Thanks!

14:48 I have had nothing but problems with 3m77, 80 and 90. Always debonding in heat. You need DAP landau top adhesive. You can put it in a little jar and brush it on. All upholsterers use this product.

Having built my fair share of conventional engines, I lost count at the things I learned about Porsche's engines in this video. 7 main journals for 6 pistons? Is it any wonder Porsche can run up the RPM range and be so smooth and resilient? Had I known how beautifully designed these engines are, I would have had me one back in the day. Which would have invariably led me down a rewarding rabbit hole. Magnificent. Thank you for the video.
