- Canon G7X Mark III upgrade to the Canon M6 Mark II. I went from the Powershot to the mirrorless camera with the EF-M lens mount, using the Sigma 16mm 1.4 aperture lens. The G7X verus the M6 Mark II, it is not a real comparison, but I give you some of the reasons I'm now using the M6.

Just got the G7x iii and have taken some good shots and vids so far. One thing I wish I knew is that the zoom slows down while recoding. But other than that very pleased with it.
I have noticed that too and on some more expensive cameras you can set the speed of the zoom but anyway it is that an issue because with the lens that I'm using now is Prime so there is no zoom. 🤣 Which firmware do you have? Have you checked?
@@GregorBrown The camera had 1.2 when I got it and the zoom was slow. I have now updated to 1.3 and it is still slow :( I wish they would consider making the zoom speed while recoding the same speed as when not recoding.. don't understand why they slow it down so much. The other thing I wish they would do is allow you to take stills while recoding. I use this a lot on my phone and wish I could also do it in this camera.
Great combo M6 II and Sigma 16mm lens. Also Canon EFM 22mm pancake, and 28mm f3.5 Macro IS STM lenses. Good vlog and demo 👍

That's great, and so much of UA-cam is about the story quality and not so much about the video quality, even if that does also matter and make your life easier. Why did you decide on the Mark II and not the III? I would think for your channel that if you had a mic input and could also run a wireless system like the Rode Wireless Go, then you could be further away from your camera for the magic tricks and get great audio to. At any rate, you will have a massive upgrade in video quality with the G7X. And your channel looks great!

Decided for the Mark 2 just because I purchased it a decent discount but I may upgrade in the future to the Mark 3 because it has a microphone jack.. but I'm loving this Mark 2 just the way it works and sounds so far.. I should start posting new videos with this camera by next week. I'm still learning how to use it but Can't wait!

I’m a huge M fan. I had the original EosM when it came out and I got the lens adapter so I could used my 5D lenses on it - putting a 100-400mm EF IS USM lens on it is just wild! Especially with the x2 adapter! I upgraded a while back to the M3 and my son has an M50

Great chose, great camera. I for long used Panasonic Tz80 compact camera and now I use Sony 6400 with many many lenses (I often use vintage lenses too). I used GoPro 7 black 6 months too and I very hated that camera. After 2 years I think to buy a full frame camera.
wow, you've had a long journey of cameras. How is that Sony 6400? The advantage is that they have the same lens mount across the board.
What mic do you recommend for the canon G7x to get rid of background noise/wind etc.

Yes. Go with the R6 because you will have more lens options than the Canon apsc sensor. But more money. Canon also has the r10 which is less money

if you shoot in 4k on the new camera you mean? I still shoot in 1080p on my R6 otherwise the files would be massive.
but if you size up 1080p footage to fit 4k then yes, you will lose quality, a lot. But what size do you export your videos in, 4K or 1080?
