Question of the Day ⚡ Are you Team Canon or Team Sony? Let me know! 👇 ********* The TOP TWO cameras for UA-cam we recommend right now are the Canon M50 and Sony ZV-1... 👉👉👉 WATCH OUR COMPARISON HERE 👉👉👉 ua-cam.com/video/9syuckkfHGw/v-deo.html
One thing UA-camr’s should consider when pricing out these two systems is each camera’s native “vlogger” lens. On the Sony, you have the 10-18mm f/4 for $800 and for Canon M you have the 11-22 f/4-5.6 for $400. The Sony has a constant aperture through it’s zoom range, but you have to ask yourself of that advantage is worth paying 2x the price. Also, I don’t own either of these cameras, I’m just a weirdo obsessed with camera gear videos 🤓. Great comparison!
I've been using the Canon M6 Mark II as my principal camera for over a year now and think that it's probably the best camera I've ever owned. Picture quality, features, and portability are all top-notch. When I purchased mine I got a lens adapter that allows you to use any Canon lens, not just the mirrorless ones, so lens options have never been an issue for me. That said, the Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens is an almost permanent fixture on my camera due to its amazing picture quality. Simply a great all-round photography experience.
😂😂 the drum rolls got my heart pounding. I was sad when the a6400 popped up as best but leaped for JOY when it was switched with the m6 mkii. Love the m6 mark ii. Great Presentation OMAR !!!!
I was doing this comparison a year ago with my research. I shoot a lot more video than I do live streaming. I am very happy with my choice. The availability of native and 3rd party lenses, no record limit, and the better 4k made the Sony a6400 an easy choice. It's been a beast of a camera.
This is really reassuring. I’m heavily invested into the M Lens system and the M6 Mark 2 having a vote of confidence like this is awesome for my decision making process.
2 questions about Cannon cameras in general - Do they all have the battery and memory card slot right under where the tripod mount attaches? In other words, do you have to take the tripod mount off in order to change either the battery or memory card? Also, what's the cheapest cannon camera that has a battery that doesn't die after an hour and a half os use?
Why is comparison based on the features a beginner would want? At this price point I think intermediate features like colour profiles, time lapse and slow motion are a much bigger deal. As a beginner I bought the zv-1, great auto focus in 4k, good colours across the board (720p - 4k), customisation of the function button for most used features (yes the menu system sucks hard), and as a point and shoot I can learn how to shoot a good video without having to commit to a lens eco system. These cameras are a much bigger investment than just a body and kit lens. Depending on the type of project you want to shoot, you'll be talking 2 or 3 prime lenses and 2 or 3 zoom lenses. The question I'm interested in is "If you are starting to out grow your beginner camera, whats the next step?" While owners who have bought an M50 will have a strong inclination to stick with Canon for the lens system, point and shoot owners wanting to go into interchangeable lens cameras have more choices
One thing that people misunderstand is that 'Motivation' is a temporary mindset whereas 'Discipline' is what keeps you going. Find your passion, your reason for making your channel, your ambition when they skies are grey, your having a bad day, and you STILL turn on that camera and make that video. THAT'S what it takes to succeed! Who here agrees? 👌🏻
QUESTION: For the Canon M6, after 30 minutes it stops recording automatically even when adapter is plugged into outlet? Q2: Can you stop recording within 30 minutes, then start recording again to reset the 30 minute limit? (E.g. Record 25 minutes, stop. Start, then record 27 minutes, stop. etc)
1) Yes - will still stop if plugged in 2) Yes - you can just stop and restart for as long as you want. If you have power and sd card space - you can just keep repeating that cycle.
I have the Sony a6600 and the a7iii. The flip up screen and ability to use face tracking with 4k on the a6600 with an external monitor is a game changer!
ok my new Canon M6 mark ii just came in and the lens I got was a Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens. This is how new i am to all this, Why i thought I got the wrong lens???? It said ER-M but i cold not get the lens on, So I started a return ticket, and they guy said, this lens will fit, are you sure you did not brake something.....lol When it comes to video cams..... I 100% believe every word that comes out of his mouth...... now sean????? just joking Sean Rocks even harder..... Thanks for all you all videos, Peace and love always.
This dude got me subbing and buying a top cam, I had my mind made up to just use my old gopro and maybe buying a used canon m50.... for like $400...... After watching 2 of his videos, I said F it.... and got this M6 markii. Now i need to learn how to work it while learning how to shoot good videos. I would love HELP from anyone. I can see why everyone comes to this channel. Very good info Always.
I think that the SONY is a much better image then the Canon. The shot of the golf course behind you view, the Sony is much more vivid. It shows the green grass much better..
That's what I thought, the cannon looks a little oversharpen, where the sony is more cinematic and flat, it doesn't need any sharpening to have crisp image
In Australia I can get the Sony a6400 for AUD $1365, and the Canon M6 mkII for AUD $1135 with a 5 year warranty. Canon wins on price. But what about slow motion with AF? What about time lapse? Can you do a video on your method from recording to uploading? What’s the best method? I’m talking ... start with the SD card and walk us through upload. Thank youuuuu
Thank You for this' showing the picture quality has changed my mind. I am starting a cooking channel as a beginner. I guess the Canon will be my buy, as I want everything to look pretty, am I right? 🙏
The Canon will definitely get the job done Missy NPH, but one thing to consider is that you probably already have the best camera for your situation right now... your phone! Filming and creating with your phone will allow you to get familiar with recording and editing, and you can level up your game with a camera when the time comes (and maybe that is now), but just saying a lot of people neglect the capabilities of their smartphones with the right lighting and set-up. Just something to think about, but keep creating and best wishes!
I use my iPhone with AirPods for a mic. Move pro app is free let’s you record video using a Bluetooth mic and Phonto app that’s free helps you create thumbnails…then I edit in iMovie which is free software. Similar apps for droid as well. So 3 years later in 2024, knowing that the efm mount is discontinued, would you still recommend the m6mk2 over the 6400? I just ordered one arriving tomorrow as a edc and travel setup My reasons is I love the 2 tone retro look and I love how I can load filmic or portra like picture styles into the camera and get some epic jpegs. With that said, I only shoot photos and don't shoot videos at all
The Canon looks better out of the box. Their colours are always on point. The Sony looks unsaturated in comparison. It can be fixed in post, but beginners may not want to colour correct immediately
Sony has log and because of the lense situation, in my opinion it's the cheaper and better route because I can buy fullframe lenses while I wait for a fullframe upgrade which can pair nicely as a w camera setup. I was hung up on these two cameras but eventually realized long term thoughts for saving money meant sony. I'm pretty sure canon is giving no more love to the mirrorless crop mount system anyways... and everyone says your lenses last far longer than your camera.
Hi Omar, I like watching your video. I can understand what your're saying since English is not my first language. I've been looking for this comparison (Sony A6400 & Canon M6 Mark ii) and finally I've found you. Now I know what to buy, the Canon M6 Mark ii. Thank you Omar.
Because most of the streamers I watch all use A6400 cameras and alike I figured that’s where I would sway, but to see the picture quality and straight out of the box video quality of the M6 I’m actually incredibly surprised. I will be using these for Real Estate photos and walk throughs so I really appreciate the picture quality of the canon. Great review!
Hey there Omar, Actually the thing is like me there are many many small creators who are really confused about that can they use iPhone 12 pro max or the hight variant of iPhone as their main gear. Yeah I know that if someone can buy a 1200 or 1300 usd iPhone so it's better to buy a camera in that price range, but sometimes situation comes like creators like me wants a device with which they can shoot good quality reels, tiktok videos, if they go out so they can't carry camera always so they use their phone to capture moments videos. So overall because of all these things small creators like me wants to buy a smartphone too and camera too but buying both things will really tear our budget. So can you please please tell or make a small video that is iphone 12 pro max or the next 13 pro max so are they good for making UA-cam videos and if Yes then what all things to do like camera settings and other important stuffs. Because buying an iPhone will solve many many problems it will save budget, allow us to make reels, tik tok videos and many more, so yeah I hope u understand my point here. Thanks tho🔥
Well done video! We have a few small Sony’s more for travel and love them, and literally considering these two cameras now more for talking head type video and the occasional trip outdoors for video (so small is still important). Sony 4K video sharper, but even so thought the Canon simply looks better. Just more pleasing to watch. Have seen other reviews that comment the same. Now if we want to crop in a lot, the Sony would be much better, but for most uses the Canon seems a better fit. Both are nice!
A non beginner feature, sony has a a better dynamic range with a log profile and Sony commitment for good video on photo cameras is better than canon, if future proofing the lenses and color (for grading) are important, Sony is the one to go.
I'm a Canon supporter all the way. I am looking to upgrade my equipment so this is helpful. I have a Canon Rebel T2i with lots of lenses but never got the macro lens for up close insect shots but it is on my priority list when I upgrade. I never liked doing videos with my camera but this one looks great for that. Plan to do a few videos soon for my two UA-cam channels, a handmade greeting card channel and a houseplant channel and the Canon looks like it would do the job very well. Don't think I would ever have a video over 30 minutes anyway and they would take too long to upload.
RIght!? I had my eyes on the M50 for months but recently settled for a g7 Mark 2 bought second-hand for less than half the original price. Great quality for half the price ^^ I would highly recommend thinking about buying cameras second hand or refurbished to not break the bank
Great video, Omar. Thanks a lot. What do you think about them for livestreaming? Are they both usable or do they overheat and turn off? I've been investigating a bit and I've read that may be an issue... 🤔
Caution. Do not buy the Canon M6 Mkii for outdoor daytime photography unless it comes with the EVF DC2 viewfinder. Under bright daylight/sunny conditions, the LCD is useless; can't see a thing!!
Whooohoooo Ya nailed this one. I have the M6 & A6600… and cannot understand how the canon doesn’t get more recognition… m50 m50 m50 🙄. Loved the video!
I’m so torn between these cameras. I have a canon 77d that I bought last year for stop motion and ended up using for live streaming as well. I also have a6000 I bought in 2015 for traveling so I’m super used to navigating the menu etc. I’ve ended up using them both for UA-cam over the last year and I thought this camera comparison was going to swing me in one direction or the other. This video was super informative. I really like the ability to endlessly record on the Sony and I’m not so into getting an adapter for the Canon… decisions decisions. I’m going to watch this again. Thank you so much for putting these two cameras up against each other
I LOVED my M6 Mk II it is everything the M50 wanted to be. I went to the m6 so I could use the lenses I had purchased with my m50. I have since then moved on to the canon R5.
I just went to Howe caverns with my m6 mkII with the Sigma 16mm @1.4 and the low light capability blew my mind!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼 so a relief from carrying my Nikons D850 + battery grips
I think the price of these cameras are abit much for starting off with, You could buy a canon m3 a couple of lenses and rode ntg4 mic and get good quality video and amazing audio for a lot less.
I have been binge watching your canera gear videos 🙈. Awesome and informative. Loved the video and the way you finally give a verdict and not play diplomatic more so 😁. Could you please add the Fujifilm X-S10 with the kit 15-45 mm lens to the comparison. I just got one and would love to know your views
If the Canon has a 30 minute record limit, does that apply to live streaming? I see a lot of 1 to 2 hour live streams. Oops, sorry folks, let me restart the camera. Hey look, I'm back! Loved the side by side comparisons on quality. The Canon looked better to me for all of them.
Streaming isn't the same as recording. You aren't capturing footage to an SD card but rather displaying a live feed via HDMI or USB (Canon Webcam App) so don't worry about it
No. The 30 minute limit doesn't apply when you have clean hdmi out activated in the M6 II. That means you can stream all day long. You can also record with no limit if you do it externally with clean hdmi out.
I am thinking to upgrade an old EOS T5i for this Canon M6 Mark ii but i love the 18-55mm IS lens that came with it. Can i use this lens on this new M6 one?

Don't think I would ever have a video over 30 minutes anyway and they would take too long to upload.
Definitely a Canon fan. M50 is rock solid.
I AGREE 💯
Omar, You are Great at this. You just made me buy this camera.
Thank You
Joe D
I got the M6 Mark ii.
Who else wishes they had enough moola to invest in a camera? 😭
You do have, you just don't want enough
RIght!? I had my eyes on the M50 for months but recently settled for a g7 Mark 2 bought second-hand for less than half the original price. Great quality for half the price ^^ I would highly recommend thinking about buying cameras second hand or refurbished to not break the bank
I’m deffo after adding a new camera to go with the 2 GoPro hero 9 blacks 😁
Me too
Me 🙏
Had to pause the video at 0:21 and comment here that I can’t stop laughing about the stupid Mic Jack.
yes
This the best m6 m2 review on UA-cam
I use a screw in handle with accessory shoes anyway. The flip up screen is no issue
Great video, Omar. Thanks a lot. What do you think about them for livestreaming? Are they both usable or do they overheat and turn off? I've been investigating a bit and I've read that may be an issue... 🤔
i prefer Canon colors and the image looks more "punchy", another thing Sony shows Moiré in your denim jacket ... great review
Caution. Do not buy the Canon M6 Mkii for outdoor daytime photography unless it comes with the EVF DC2 viewfinder. Under bright daylight/sunny conditions, the LCD is useless; can't see a thing!!
Which camera are you using right now in this video to record this head talk?
Whooohoooo
Ya nailed this one. I have the M6 & A6600… and cannot understand how the canon doesn’t get more recognition… m50 m50 m50 🙄.
Loved the video!
Omar.... You're an amazing influence. Lol. I'm an addict of Think Media now! #ThinkOmar 😝👌
I just got the Canon M50 mark ii and it’s already a bit of a learning curve (from the iPhone, haha)... now getting fomo with the M6 mark ii! 😅

@@OmarEltakrori nice one, thanks! 🙌
Definitely leaning towards the canon
Thanks Omar! Have an M50 with 22 mm prime lens. Looking around for when I upgrade.
Thank you so much for putting these two cameras up against each other
you already have good cameras, try get another lens first.
@@truthseeker6804 thank you for that suggestion. I'll take a deeper look into lens options
I LOVED my M6 Mk II it is everything the M50 wanted to be. I went to the m6 so I could use the lenses I had purchased with my m50. I have since then moved on to the canon R5.
THISSSSS is the comparison that i needed!!
I just went to Howe caverns with my m6 mkII with the Sigma 16mm @1.4 and the low light capability blew my mind!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼 so a relief from carrying my Nikons D850 + battery grips
I think the price of these cameras are abit much for starting off with,
You could buy a canon m3 a couple of lenses and rode ntg4 mic and get good quality video and amazing audio for a lot less.
Compare the M6 II with the Sony ZV-E10 ? What do you think ? It has I think new Sony Colors ? ( currently using the M6 II )
Lol @0:15 for the Michael Jackson (Mic Jack Input)!!
@@josed948 "externally with clean hdmi out" ...forgive me, newbie here, but what does that mean?
Always a Canon man.... thanks for the informative videos
I think you are right. canon |M6 mark II is a better option .... and this is popular here in this part of the world
Great comparison review video! Leaning toward the Canon.
I like the canon camera
Love the canon m6 :)
I definitely like the Canon's capabilities except that silly 30 minute video limit. That's a real bummer for Livestream or interviews.
Thanks for the review. Can you do a comparison with the Fujifilm X-S10 camera?
I am thinking to upgrade an old EOS T5i for this Canon M6 Mark ii but i love the 18-55mm IS lens that came with it. Can i use this lens on this new M6 one?
Thank you for the video it help me to decide what to choose. I'm going to buy Canon today. :)
The way u explain vth videos & pics is just outstanding...🤍🤍
