I'm ten years younger than you, but I find myself appreciating your words and advice more than the younger UA-camrs. I love how down-to-earth you are, and how honest you are. I often end up fast forwarding or skipping through lengthy talking videos from other UA-camrs, but I watch every second of your videos. There's just something about the way you review and explain and say things that makes me want to listen! Thank you for doing your channel, and for going strong despite criticism. I think you look so beautiful, inside and out!

I think people think she is older as she is so articulate and knowledgeable and comfortable in front of the camera. She has a natural on-screen authority that most newscaster only wish they had.

I fucking love that you're 33, i think that women in their thirties are the most beautiful. They still look young but still more mature, they look beautiful but they really look like true women and not like little girls. You're the definition of a beautiful woman.

"Really look like true women" - what is that exactly? You don't have to be condescending to younger women to appreciate older and mature women. I'm so tired of hearing this "true women" argument everywhere on the internet because it's quite silly. Plus, a lot of women in their 30s still look as if they were 22. And no, I'm not saying this because I'm one of those "little girls", as I'm almost 30 and I simply don't need to put down younger women in order to feel better about myself.

It's laughable that women in their 30s are considered old. I'm 46 soon to be 47 and o feel amazing. Aside from a few lines under my eyes I'm pretty much in love with how I look. God bless you. You look great.
Jeannette Rodriguez - I'm going to be 47! And love watching beauty guru's of all ages. They all bring something different to the table. Aside from dry skin, which I've had since young and a few wrinkles, I actually love how I look too. I'm finally comfortable in my own skin. I don't think I ever was in my 20's.

It really is laughable! That view makes no sense because we will be "older" for a hell of a lot longer than we were "younger". I'm only 30, but I'm thankful for every year I gain because I'm fortunate enough to be here and healthy.
Agreed. I'm turning 31 this year. I'm not married and don't have children. Unfortunately, I'm a nurse and sometimes patients (specifically older women) ask me what's "wrong" with me.

I'm in my thirties (exact age as Tati!) and I've never felt more confident than now..I was one of those that thought 20s should be the best years and after that its downhill but I was wrong I hope I feel even better when I'm your age! 😀👯
Your comment really moved me I'm 27 I was feeling like I'm old and my best years are over (I'm a drama queen) lol age is truly just a number. I think the ageism is more geared towards women society places this stigma against older women

I think Tati looks older because because of her deep set smile lines and her thinner eyebrows(which makes a person looks older) but honestly, she ain't immature like the rest of other 'famous' UA-camrs which may add on as to why people think she's older. 🐸☕️
I'm nearing 30 and when I was younger and just leaning to do my eyebrows, the really super thin eyebrows were in, that's what everyone wanted. And so whst if she has smile lines, they're the best ones to have, and I also have them.

Painfreekitchen I agree, I hate when women get lip injections that gets rid of their cupid's bow. It looks unnatural and just silly. But her cupid's bow is very prominent which looks great!

Absolutely. There was a couple you tubers that already had full lips that did injections and it literally got rid of every line on there lips and cupids bow. This looks good on her!
On the age topic, coming from a makeup artist and as an underdog UA-camr, women of all ages use makeup, need advice and always will, thank GOD. Every makeup counter I worked at, the majority of the women who wanted their makeup done (and were willing to spend good money on it) were women over 30. My favorite is seeing a woman in her 80's with a nice bright red lipstick, hair done up in her Sunday Best, and a gallon of perfume on. That will SO be me. UA-cam is for everyone. I watched this a while ago and now watching it again in 2017. I love the part when she shares her embarrassing moment & encourages folks not to feel so self-conscious. We've all been there. Love that!

I have massive full lips and I think she looks great. The size is fabulous and it looks very natural. I don't care if people get their lips done but it can sometimes look ridiculous!

The lighting and setting change made a big difference. Better lighting and a cleaner, white background does wonders. She also stopped being basic and got deeper, richer highlights in her hair. Also centers her shots now - we see less of her top and more of her head nowadays. She's learnt a lot in a year. It's great.

I am actually so glad that you are "older" and doing youtube. I turn 30 this year and I want to see people my age and up so I know what to look forward too :) I'm not trying to be 21 again.
I'm 42. I'm usually told that I look to be more in my mid 30's... I'm glad to find someone that is in their thirties. All I can find are people in their twenties or in their fifties...
I agree with this comment. Most of the MUA on YT are in their 20s so its so nice to see someone in her 30s doing it and is doing it so well.

I appreciate your honesty and your presence in the online beauty-verse. I'm 32 and I appreciate seeing elements of my own experience reflected in beauty content. Advertisers and companies try to get women to cling to youth when getting older is actually pretty cool. You always present looks that are classic and pretty-- looks that work on anyone. The community you've cultivated is an important one for so,so many reasons.
I just turned 32 and enjoy every second of it... I was wandering in my teens, searching in my 20s and now enjoying in my 30s.... looking forward to 33...
Also, not everyone watching UA-cam videos are teenagers or in their twenties. It's really nice to see someone your age (I'm 32 btw) making videos that you can relate to, more so than younger UA-camrs :)

So it's nearly a year later, but this is where your age came up so this is where I'm going to comment about it. I'm in my mid-30's and it's been frankly difficult to find UA-camrs this close to my own age with (as far as make-up goes) concerns and expectations similar to my own. I stopped cruising YT vids for the last few years, and you're the reason I'm back and checking in regularly again.
In your current videos you're thorough, you're articulate, and while you're lovely you're also addressing concerns women your age are dealing with - which isn't something most younger women will be able to do on a personal basis. You're kind of necessary for me, and I appreciate the time, effort, and money you've poured into your channel.
I wish there were more 30+ channels on UA-cam (yes, including 40+, 50+, all of the life stages are interesting and have information worth sharing!).

Maybe it's 'cause I'm sleep deprived, but I teared up a little bit when you said the 20's weren't "it" in life. I'm in my mid 20's, and I've kind of been going through this period where I'm in midst of getting my s*** together and don't really have the energy to focus on anything else. I've been feeling so shameful and almost panicky because I keep feeling like, "If I don't do anything great by the time I'm 30, I've failed in life." It's a huge insecurity that's been following me every waking moment, and it rears its head in everything I do. And when you said that, for some reason it helped me release some of that pressure and pain. So thank you so much for being real and for your words of encouragement.

I could hug you! In my mid 20's I felt lost. I'm 41 now (oh, the horror!) and I've never been happier or grounded. The drama will pass, you will become more confident in yourself, and things will fall in place.

I agree- I actually (perhaps it's not right) dismiss the young ones as not generally having enough experience to convince or teach me enough for me to invest my time

I can totally relate to the "I'm just going to stand here" story! A few years ago I met Ingrid at a concert. I knew I was going to see her, so I bought her a pair of cat earrings that I owned too. I thought it was a perfect gift because of Nugget, and they were from a store she really liked. I thought the meeting went really well - she was sweet and laid back. The next day I told my mom about it, and her first comment was - "I don't think Ingrid has her ears pierced." Ugh! I was annoyed with myself. I think I even knew that, but anyway - Ingrid graciously accepted the gift without making it weird for me. Every once in a while I think about it, though, and feel embarrassed for myself. ; )

makeupTIA Don't feel bad about it Ashley! I haven't worn earrings for some time now. Every time I got the pierced (and re-pierced when they closed up) they would get infected and I eventually gave up. However, it seems that no one got the memo that I can't wear earrings. I now have a collection given to me by various friends and family. Even my best friend has given me earrings on several occasions and I just don't have the heart to remind her that I can't wear them as I only see her a few times a year. Based on my experience I think that most just assume that a girl/woman over a certain age has her ears pierced. I for one am still grateful for all the gifts I receive and I'm sure Ingrid felt the same. P.S. Love your Videos btw!

Dude I have never liked lip injections on someone SO MUCH! They look bomb!!!! I think maybe it's that you're really good at styling/doing the rest of your face in a way that matches with a fuller lip, whereas other people can't figure out what to do with them?? or something?? The thing I love most about Tati is that she seems so legit. Not like trying to be legit, but actually legit. I just needed help with my makeup so I went to UA-cam and most of the videos were kind of annoying in the way that the people were just trying to be real and spunky and relatable and it just kind of bothered me and I couldn't even focus on the makeup help. And then I found you and I was like thank goodness!!!! Someone is actually genuine and isn't trying to be genuine!! Ughhh so refreshing😍😍

Yep, just do it. I started my channel, at the age of 60, using my cell phone camera. I had no idea how to get it from the phone to the computer, then on to UA-cam. Enjoyed you Q & A very much. Blessings......MaryEllen

Your 20's actually sounds like the most awful time. I mean, it's midlife crisis age. You're either still in school paying a fortune to go, or you're already out and now have to find a job to pay back that fortune of debt. And a job is so much harder to come by nowadays; something that pays well and doing something you enjoy. Or maybe you didn't even go to college and you're trying to figure out what you wanna do with your life and how but you've gotten nowhere. Then there's the pressure of getting into a relationship cuz most people around you will be getting married soon/are already engaged, or they at least have a significant other. You could be content with your academic life, friends, happy with yourself (self-esteem), have a good relationship with your family, have basically everything going for you but you still manage to feel left out and like the odd one out if you don't have a boyfriend by a certain age, even if you weren't even necessarily looking for a relationship. There's a lot of other stuff too, but it's like, there's so many people out there traveling and doing these amazing once in a lifetime things that'll make for some great memories and stories for their family/friends/grandkids and they're the same age as you, not to mention some people are already entirely settled, and you're still in school so you could afford to do all that when you're older and settled and have your own/more money. But then "you're too old" by then -____________- Lol when I was like 15/16 I thought by 26 I would have it at all/done it all (as well as my parents, they're the type who plan everything down to the dot when it comes to their kids settling down in life), but now I'm 20 and still looking at over 6 more years of school so everything else definitely has to take a backseat. And I still don't even know about what I'm gonna do with my degree after I graduate :P

Tati, I am in my 30s and I find it frustrating that women judge others, especially when it comes to botox. I have this hereditary frown line that drove me nuts. I always found I had an oil build up in it and would break out frequently. I hated it and it made me feel older than I really was. I finally shopped around to see what I could do, I feared the idea of botox and always had a negative contamination associated with it. After five doctors telling me botox or fillers would be the solution, I gave in. It was the best thing I ever did and I don't regret it; mind you I most likely wouldn't go beyond that area. However, I did realize that when I got it done everyone at the office was secretive about it. When I paid for it they told me that it would not show up on my mastercard as botox just in case my significant other saw my statement. I find it strange that we hide these procedures and make other women feel bad about it.

Tati, I really appreciated your candor on this video. I stayed up and watched it last night, and I felt most drawn to this really personal QA.
1. AMEN, girl. Celebrate what makes you happy. You don't do anything permanent or damaging so why should people care? Also, you're a beauty blogger, you should at least not be knocked for doing beauty-related things on yourself; it's part of your job in a way. Beauty editors do it for magazines and beauty sites like New Beauty or Glamour.
2. I can't believe people would hate on you for being in your 30s! You bring up a good point that there's life beyond teenage years and your 20s. But I think people who would be negative about that are just showing their age and their world view - and it might come from a myopic or just unaware mindset that hasn't quite matured yet.
Some young people don't realize that life does get better with age. You know yourself more, you get your sh*t together, you understand more about the world, you learn so much each passing year... you're more stable (hopefully), you have grown. And each decade should be better than the last. If not, you're living life wrong! AMIRITE?! Seriously.
My life has progressively gotten better as I've gotten older and I don't fear aging. I'm 33 as well (HIGH FIVE!) and I just started a UA-cam channel last year.
There are other well-known YT-ers who are in their late 20s and early 30s - and I think you're all amazing: Wayne Goss, Lisa Eldridge, Makeup Geek, Pixiwoo, Claire Marshall - just to name a few.
I think the content speaks for itself. And those who would discriminate on age probably shouldn't be watching you anyway. There are tons of people who cater to younger groups, so they'll find something that resonates with them. I think your videos are pretty darn ageless and work for all age ranges.
Also, that wedding thing--we wanted to elope, too. We didn't, but after we had our small wedding (80 people), we pinky swore to never get married to each other ever again. :) Do whatever makes sense for you and James, and we'll congratulate you and be happy for you, regardless of when it happens!
I always thought "omg she looks amazing for her 40s!" Because I think you're absolutely gorgeous and look like you're in your 20s! I just assumed from your calm and mature demeanor/lifestyle. Makes more sense that you're 33! You still look incredibly youthful tho :)
