OMGoodness! I watched this video last night. I have used black eyeliner on both my top and bottom for ages. Also black mascara. I’m blonde. Today, I used brown liner like you did in the video and brown mascara. Smidge of foundation on my cheeks (rosacea), and bronzer. What a huge huge huge difference. I actually thought I looked younger and fresher! I can’t thank you enough.
True but I have tried so many and they all smudge and leave awful dark circles (I'm oily too) I have not found one that doesn't even the waterproof, even sealing it in. At this point I just skip it
I agree with you, Hope. I gave up on mascara about 50 years ago as my skin was mega oily and seems like within minutes it was under my eyes. Now that I'm a zillion years old, I did try a tubing mascara, and no smudging. I rarely leave the house though so ? It came about 50 years too late for me but if I need it occasionally, I have it now.
There are so many paranoid young women copying older women's videos on everything, it's ridiculous especially when that world caters to them and they can pretty much do anything and they should while they can.
This woman is so sweet. Love her slightly dismissive but also very encouraging comments. Funny. I don't really wear a lot of makeup and hardly ever watch makeup tutorials. But somehow found this video both educational and relaxing.
Loved every single idea of yours! But do you know what I loved even more? Your warm, down-to-earth personality, not engaging in too much talking, and above all, your refusal to take yourself too seriously and your relaxed attitude toward makeup! I can tell you are a fantastic person!
I have been a Hollywood makeup artist for decades. Hands down-that was the fastest, most intelligent way to explain the mistakes so many make. The visual is so much more understanding than if you had written it. Wonderful job, my dear!🫶🏻💐👏🏻👊🏻👈
Oh dear, that was the most HELPFUL video I have ever seen and trust me I have seen hundreds 😂 I am 52 and am guilty of all the "wrong" ways. Tomorrow I will take this approach. So many benefits! Can you do the same for eyeshadow? I appreciate you so much ☺️💜
Oh yes, and even better with color eyeshadow! I look awful in all those browns that seem to be so popular and purples make me look like I’m one step away from the grave.
@@SolElarien Allow me to suggest sheer or lower pigmented eyeshadows in blush pinks and corals. Shimmer shadows (not glitters) in those kinds of pinky bronze or champagne colors tend to look lovely and natural as well.
@@ellie7701 Thank you. Champagne suits me (in every aspect) but I have a lot of pink in my eyelids and orange and pinks make me look like I have sore eyes or I’ve been crying, brown drains the light out of my brown eyes and I look sad and older (I’m 52 so I’d rather look younger), light greys, blues and especially greens are my colors, vanilla and champagne suit me fine. I’m terribly pale, I’m so thankful for make up.
I’m 75 and I’ve noticed that my usual make up application wasn’t working for me about 2 yrs ago… Less is more, for sure. I wish you’d show us a tutorial using a real old person, so we can see the real results. That would be great.
You said it!! I wish there was more diversity in these tutorials....random people, who are perhaps older, with wrinkles, no botox or lip filler etc etc. I have recently found two ladies that are much older than me, but they show their faces before putting make up on. I do suspect that at least one of them has had a brow lift though, and maybe a bit of both in the forehead. Amazing that that seems to be the norm now on make up tutorials!
@@alb5560 every time I've watched one of his videos though, he has used incredibly expensive products! And when he brought in his next door neighbour, it was laughable! She looked like a Barbie doll! I don't mean any disrespect to her or Wayne....it's just that there are soooo many of us that just don't have that kind of money, and don't want/have plastic surgery.
I know...having a 25 year old girl with totally poreless, glowing skin tell senior women how to avoid making mistakes that age you seems rather insulting.
Your first line made me smile and take my hat for you: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH AGEING!!!!! Totally agree with that. Hug Anne (46 years old and loving life as it is).
Yes you don't want to get that one too many face lifts and end up looking freakish - or not able to blink because your face is so unnaturally tight from one too many face lifts.
A tip for cool undertone ladies with eyeliner- taupe can be cool, as can a grey, eggplant purple, mauve etc :) and that usually looks better than brown if you have strong cool undertones but not as harsh as black :)
@@navatallauner401 that depends of the brand, more than the pigment color. I have sensitive eyes and skin and I'm able to use Essence eyeliners for example
I am a makeupartist from Vienna and really, really love this video. Thank you for "less is more", for NO black, and stay away from nude lips when you are over 40... I am 45, love my age and can really recommend: to what she says :-)
How do you do eyebrows when the outer side has thinned or almost disappeared? I've been using brow pencil to fill in and brushing all of them and the pencil up for a natural look. Any color suggestions for specific hair colors?
KH, thinning or disappearing of the outer edge of eyebrows can be a thyroid issue. Might want to look into that. That said, I'd like to hear this addressed too!
I loved this video. The "bad" side looks drawn down and dull, but the "good" side looks lifted and bright. I just turned 53, and have noticed that the less makeup I use the "younger" I look.
The quality of make up now is practically stage make up and or drag make up. It is as shocking to look at up close because it's meant to be seen on camera. Young girls straight out the gate are using stage and drag techniques including fillers, shots and surgery on barely developed features. Imho when this phase blows over in our culture we will be left with some very interesting faces to look at as they age. Interesting times.
I am 62 and I was so happy to hear you discuss aging in general and then the "less is more" approach to makeup when aging. I was down to brown mascara and lip gloss before I watched this, and now will continue with just that!!! Thank you!
Even as a guy who knows nothing about makeup and just trying to cover up some dark circles and look more presentable in public I can say this woman knows her sh*t. And I have to agree with all that she says as she proves it right on the screen. Kudos to her. No wonder she's in Paris talking about makeup. People should flourish in jobs that they are competent and knowledgeable about. Excellent video and Incredibly informative
I love it! "Baking CAN look good...if you're 16 and have no wrinkles." Story of my life. It COULD look good...if I were 16 and had no wrinkles. Unfortunately, I'm well past 16 and have plenty of fine lines and wrinkles. I have learned SO MUCH from this video. THANK YOU for taking the time to make this video and sharing it with someone who is definitely challenged in the age department!
This was one of the best and most practical tutorials on makeup for the aging woman. You said so many things I've thought for quite a while! I feel validated. 🙂
Blush is ALWAYS a good idea. It’s the quickest and easiest way to add colour and youth and glow back into the skin. Blush makes the biggest impact to the face; without it, your makeup will look incomplete, no matter how much or how little else makeup you have on. Blush should ALWAYS be included in everyone’s makeup routine each and every time they wear makeup ☺️
All of a sudden I woke up and I’m 60. So that means I grew up in the late 1970s and 1980s. Your video was so helpful in targeting an older face and to stop with our old ways! Loved it! Please make more targeting right and wrong ways.
YOU DO NOT NEED MASCARA IN THE WORLD WHERE YOU HAVE LUSH LASH EXTENSION DONE EVERY THREE WEEKS. I have mascaras from the highest brand name to even some Target brands and nothing compares to lash extensions. Go get some lashes and rephrase your statement lady.
@@andreaszilagyi781 not everyone has $100 to get lash extensions done every 2 weeks. Plus they always look fake, we can tell you’re wearing lash extensions. So no thanks for your bad advice.
I cannot tell you how helpful these tips were! I tried them and OMG I will NEVER contour again. The difference is DRAMATIC. I could not figure out with all the effort I was putting in why I felt like my make up did not look as good as all the beauty bloggers. I guess thats why its important to follow beauty bloggers in your age category. You are awesome, thank you for sharing. It only takes me like 5 minutes to do my make up and I look better. Less is more when you are of an older age ❤
Thank you, Andrea for this informative and helpful video. I appreciate your style of content presentation very much. Your demeanor is professional, yet quite charming. You do not waste time stretching out what you want to say, instead you make your points clearly and concisely and demonstrate helpful examples. You are very considerate to attach detailed information (inks to products mentioned, time stamps, and discount codes) that help your viewers to thoroughly understand your content. The attachments are also extremely thoughtful and quite useful, as well. You are a wonderful content creator, a kind and considerate person, and I am grateful to have found your channel. I wish you and your beautiful family an abundance of happiness.
I’m 67 now (JEEPERS!!). I used to be a makeup artist for a time with Bourjois when it first appeared in Australia, 40 years ago! In those days everything was COLOUR!!! After that, I pulled back and used very little makeup for a long time. I love your natural sense, Ali. This video has helped me a lot. Feeling very old now. I hadn’t known where to start! Many thanks!!
Thank you for keeping it real. So many women don't realize the natural beauty they cover up. Their make up wears them and I think it might be something they hide behind. There is alot of pressure on us to live up to the hype around us.
I love your videos Andrea. I’m 62 but I love makeup, thank God I never do the part on the mistake side. 🙏🏻 I would love to see a video on eyeshadows for mature skin, I always struggle, because I don’t know if I should use cream, powder or the eyeshadow sticks. I bought a few eyeshadow sticks from Bobbi Brown and I’m scare to use them thinking it would age me too much. I’m writing from Miami Florida. 👋🏻❤️
if you have time to yourself, sit down with your new shadows, some micellar water and cotton pads - and have at it! Try a dozen different things with what you've already got and see what you like. Anything you don't like, just wipe away 😀
Why did you say I am 62 but live make up ?? Who says make up restricted to certain age ?? No ! It’s your birth right! As long as you are alive don’t deprive yourself from it .
Lol "your birthright"! Yes, so many fold in the eyelids now, makeup only seems to accentuate. I like her idea of just smudging a bit of pencil liner in, ima try that.
The Bobbi brown sticks are wonderful you can use a little or a lot and build on the color.. they're creamy and I use them...I'm 43 my sister does whose 46 and even mom whose 78 so give them a try put them directly on the lid and just blend with your fingers or a brush but easy and crease minimally even cream blush is good too the cream products seem to be more forgiving and add moisture which we need most of us as we age
I’ve never been able to do liner at any age as I just seem to look like a clown! I’m 68 so I guess I’ve missed the boat now but I did love false eyelashes in my 20s. There comes a time when less is more and I only wear makeup on special nights out😊
This was terrific! I am almost 70 (can’t believe it) and never wore makeup. At retirement I watched older women do makeup on UA-cam and bought lots of products. I quickly realized they didn’t look good on me, and less is more. I inherently knew those nude lip pies made me look dead. Please do a minimal older woman eye tutorial that isn’t complicated. Love all you do ❤️

Being 35, living in the woods, and being a mom it's hard to find tutorials that don't feel so "extra" to me. It's also hard to find folks with a similar olive coloring, I'm very close to yours so that helps already but it's the overall accessibility of your techniques and the reasonableness of it all that made me subscribe.
I love how this is so feminine too. Full of natural curves instead of the sharpness of drag makeup or current trends. It is nice to see someone teaching good basic techniques instead of always looking like you belong on stage.
What a refreshing, and seriously realistic approach! I love that you break down the IRL v. photo video differences. Hard to capture, but way to make the point. Thank you
I am 51 and I have been watching and learning how to do my make up from you tube for over 12 years. From my 40s to 50s my skin and aging has changed dramatically!!! I love how make up artistry changes over the years. Your so beautiful... I thank you for putting out the lastest tips and tricks!!! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦!
I loved this! I am entering my 30’s, just had two kids in two years my body and face have changed SO much in what feels like over night that I have noticed that my make up techniques that used to work for me before needs to change because they don’t work for me anymore, thank you!
Mascara and blush. These two items instantly improve your appearance. Use a blush that complements your coloring. Cooler color should use a plum or berry color, warmer can use a coral or rust tone. Mature skin does best with a cream blush. I like to place a small amount of blush under my eyes, at the very top of my cheek. This gives a very natural flush, like you’ve been exercising.
I’m subscribing. You’re the smartest make up woman I’ve seen! I’ve aged tremendously the past 13 months after my husband passed. I lost 35 pounds too quickly due to grief. My hair & skin look awful! I’ve been trying to hide the dark circles just as you’ve showed. Tysm.
I LOVE BROWN EYELINER! Even brown mascara, but I wish they made more deep brown colors. Often times the brown shade is too light, but blue black colors don't look good on me either.
My favorite liner is in the taupe shade from Sephora's own collection, the shade is in number 15, called Flirting Game. It's the perfect taupe, not too light or too dark. I'm 51 and I've been using it for the past 3-4 years.
This video was an epiphany for me. I never ever listened to something more useful and different from mainstream makeup videos. Thank you so much. You're amazing. From Italy.
This was probably the most helpful video I have ever seen. It was so so amazing. Thank you Andrea for making this. I am 53 and am going to try not to contour and do the cream bronze trick. So helpful to know that every single make up tip is not for every single person. I would love to k is your tips for eye shadow as many others have commented. ♥️😘
What a contrast from each sides of your makeup demo! So much softer on your right side and really accentuates your features in a subtler way! Love it! Thanks for your very good advice!
I love this woman and how you help people realize how important the small things can age you. Thank you I have been struggling with makeup and getting older and having a hard time not making myself look even older than I am. Truly thank you
Ali, you're an absolute treasure! Your knowledge and insights are only surpassed by your fun and wicked sense of humor. Your sensitivity to those of all ages is highly commendable. You're a shining star in the universe!
I just turned 74 and I have learned over the years that less is more. Your videos are wonderful because you understand how aging too much makeup, too much eye liner etc. all of it is. I don't have a lot of wrinkles thanks to heredity and decent skin care but I know I don't look my age unless I use way too much make up. I truly appreciate you!
Can’t believe I watched this video for free. Yesterday I went to a weeding exactly with the aging makeup and I was feeling horrible.. OMG! Thank you so much Andreea! You really help us a lot! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I ended up with a black eyeliner by mistake.... so I used it. My husband looked at me and immediately said that my makeup looked a bit harsh. Of course he was kind about it (he never even notices 99% of the time.) So you are absolutely correct about using brown eyeliner and mascara!! Also, I have stopped using bronzer on my cheek area as well, only on my forehead because I have a large one and it needs some color! Thank you for these suggestions, they are very helpful!!🥰
I first saw this video about 8-9 months ago, and I have to say… after putting these changes in action, when I DO wear makeup, I feel so much more confident because the difference is astonishing! Thank you sooooo much for this! Now I’m just trying to combat the rosacea I’ve developed (THANKS, aging and rare autoimmune disease… love never needing blush…) but I’m so happy with the changes I see by following these guidelines ❤
I love your stuff, so elegant and classy! Im literally sitting here telling my friend about your Dior look (I actually went to Sephora today and bought the liquid lipstick), but i wanted to show her your amazing eye look, and voila, your video was just posted!! With love from Toronto xox
I was tempted by that liquid lipstick too! I just don’t like liquid lipsticks, but Dior always has really lovely formulas ….. omygahh I’m tempted! Do you like it?
I am 49 and am totally guilty of the black eyeliner mistake. I even have small eyes and do it. It is like a comfort zone thing. I gotta quit though asap bc I agree that it ages the face. Thank you for this content. I needed to be called out. 😆
yes! it was fine when I was 19 or 22, but at 42 things are different. Finding burgundy and bronze liners has been my lifeline. Can skip shadow if I just smudge out my liner!
if you have brown eyes u should try blue mascara!! that’s what i do and i always get so many compliments. It really makes the eyes pop. I use the l’oréal one and its amazing
I'm 62 and refused to give up my black eye liner....until I saw this video. I will be replacing it. The contrasting sides were very helpful as well. Thank you!
Thank you for doing this video! I am 42 and just starting to really see differences in how I need to change certain things in my makeup routine! I have rosacea so I can’t just use concealer in certain spots so would love to see another video with more items like BB/CC creams and foundation, color correction, and any other products for those of us with discoloration/hyperpigmentation issues!
Loved this. I’ve been a fan for a few years now. Also I’m 64. So helpful! I remember when you did your mom’s makeup. I would encourage you to consider doing a half and half on her to include blush and face powder and hair. Xxoo
You are an amazing teacher! You're helping so many women look their best and doing so in such a kind way that isn't insulting to anyone, but demonstrating so it's clear to see. ❤️
I just turned 31. I haven’t worn makeup in 2/3 years. I spent $200 on make up yesterday to try to get back in to it. I been watching YT videos this past week on “how to do this or that” and I must say… the way you did it “wrong” is exactly how I apply makeup before and how I been show to this past week. And I feel like I look so much older when I wore make up and that’s why I stopped wearing it. This video is a absolute game changer and you look absolutely stunning!! This is the video I needed to see and wish I saw it sooner!!! Thank you so much for this valuable lesson! 🤍
As a guy, who grew up with beautiful sisters and a beautiful mom, in my opinion makeup should be applied so it doesn't look like you are wearing makeup. It should accentuate your own beauty, and yes if needed cover some minor flaws. Although I did see a great video on a make up artist who helped people who had a lot of issues - like scarring and disfiguration, and with her help, the people looked so much better with make up to hide what had happened to their faces. So make up can work miracles, but I think mostly it's a case of less is more.
Thank you so much for sharing such a good knowledge to people like us who are in love with make up and willing to improve the technique of using it in a more more better way
Personally, I like these videos and wish more people would do them. Each creator is going to have their own take and tips, the more tips the better I say! Thank you for this video, I am getting older and am realizing that I just need to stop trying to recapture my youth and use cosmetics to enhance what I have, not cover it all up.
Thank you for doing this video, lovely one!😘😊. As a veteran makeup artist of 29 years, I have seen many older, aging women wearing & applying their makeup the same way as they did in their more youthful years. It certainly can age one's face. I have had clients, that have been open to changing and seeing what I have suggested in updating their look. I have seen not only black eyeliner being too harsh, but also too dark of a lipstick and not much blush. As we age and go through menopause we lose color in our face and look faded, washed out. Our hair loses pigment/color & texture as well. Some may dye their hair too dark as it can look too harsh. It's all about balance. Aging doesn't have to be a time of giving up and throwing in the towel, thinking you can't still look & feel beautiful. I encourage all women of any age to know they can still feel & look beautiful! I accept that I am getting older, I will be turning 50 years old soon. I wish to look & feel graceful/refined/elegant in my aging process. My biggest and loudest message to everyone is take very good care of your skin!! Your skincare is the very foundation, that helps your makeup to look its very best. I love helping all women, especially my older clients. Aging doesn't have to be depressing or sad. We have learned from our mistakes in life, matured, and most of all gained some wisdom in helping others younger than ourselves to a better place. Makeup is a work of art, a portrait, painting in detailing one's most flattering features. Have a blessed day everyone!!!🙂💗
Hey beautiful lady! I am a 57-year-old black woman and I enjoyed this video. You made me laugh when you said how people will “wear black eyeliner and think that they don’t need mascara… In what world?”🤣🤣🤣 I am totally guilty of that lol! I am a breast cancer survivor and having gone through chemo my eyelashes are so thin as well as my eyebrows. I just feel better when I wear black. Sometimes I want longer eyelashes and sometimes I don’t care. I don’t notice a big difference unless I wear faux lashes and I don’t want to do that every day. AnyWho… I’m going to play with a few of the tips that you gave👍 Thanks 😊
Before I recommend this product that helped me regrow my lashes, please know that I’m not trying to sell anything or am in any way connected to the company. I’m merely sharing something that worked for me. The company is called Nulastin and they sell products to help grow eyelashes, brows and hair. Their products are only available online and are somewhat pricey so I wait until they go on sale. But, since using their products the results have totally exceeded my expectations. At first I used the serum at least once or every other day. Now I only need to apply it once a week or even longer (when I forget) and it maintains the growth.
Hey Tracy what an inspiration you are. ❤️ Wearing eyeliner without mascara ! Well you certainly need saving too. If you ever fancy playing like teenagers putting make up on each other that would be a great you tube video. Do we ever see how different a clip on someone with opposite skin tones have a go at learning our differences. I'm trying to get a 'wig' week going as cancer sufferers shouldn't feel its a compromise. I bought a wig in Catford and they all laughed at me as it mainly Afrocentric supplies. Never did we giggle so much x
Hey Tracy! Also a cancer survivor and still growing my lashes and eyebrows back out… what a pain in the *$$ and a terrible reminder. I’ve also played with some growth serums, which has helped a bit, but I feel you… I still have empty patches 4 years later🙄 Do what makes YOU feel better!! (But I do wish I had seen these videos before going through my sh*¥, lol!) And Hornblower, what a good idea, both for the makeup and the wigs! I so wish I had had someone help me with figuring out not only what wigs look good, but how to wear them properly… ugh. Lol! Keep up the good fight ladies!!
@@debilowis-geiger7645 hey thanks Debi🙌 I don’t know why sometimes the notifications don’t show responses but I appreciate your feedback and sharing! One of the best and most helpful UA-cam videos I have ever gotten for a makeup tutorial the fact that you can actually see a big difference is a super big deal I been looking for a video like this and I finally found the best makeup video out there thank you so much this video means a lot to me! 💛
Like I already said, I think you're spot on on everything! Couple of questions: 1. If you apply bronzer that high, where would the blush go? 2. Difference between bronzer and contour? 3. My lipstick and lip liner which I seldom use never stay. Any tips? Thank you.
Thank you for showing what works in REAL life! I'm not a selfie person, so I don't pay too much attention to how my make up works in photos, but there are a lot of tips (especially with concealer) that look too heavy in person.
The “baby fat” explains a lot. I am 31, and around 29 I realized that I can no longer do makeup the same way as I used to. At first it was confusing to me, I felt as though I forgot how to do my makeup during pandemic lol I can no longer stand black liner, it just doesn’t look good on me. My eyebrow game became extremely natural, although I never did them harsh and dark before either. Absolutely cannot stand any metallic lipsticks (never did, but now especially). So these notes are a must not only for women 40 and older, but for us women crossing the line of 30s. I actually really like the idea of brown mascara, never thought of it before. Definitely getting it!
I’m an “older” woman (57) and I so appreciate your honesty!!! 🙏🏼 My skin is pretty good but I have fine lines and more makeup just looks bad. Thank you!
At the end of my thirties, I'm just learning how to apply makeup now. It can be overwhelming, watching all those videos, with all these beautiful young girls with styles I could never pull off, and 35 products I have no idea how to use but are certainly expensive xD With your video I'm kindof relieved I can skip right to the "less is better" minimalist part now xD Also, your videos are very accessible, and reassuring somehow. Aging is normal :) ty
I’m now 44 … and. I couldn’t agree more with the” less is more” tactic … I have couple bottles of foundation and I use them only in little areas around my eyes and my eyelids and a couple of the little areas throughout my face… I never could understand the “full-faced” foundation trends that women have turned towards in the past decades.. whenever I’ve attempted to try that look in the past, it always would age me … I could not even imagine wearing a thick layer like that every day… I love this video I was totally intrigued by every word thank you so much…
You can never go wrong with some suncreen as your base and a beautiful mineral powder by bareMinerals. It’s about $50 in Australia but I’m not quite sure how much is overseas in Sephora. It comes in original which is a nice dewy finish or it comes in a matte version. I feel that mature women look way better with a dewy finish but it’s up to you. I feel it’s very important to have that base layer underneath and it will last you all day all night so make sure that your sunscreen is not mattifying and at night otherwise use a dewy moisturizer. It works better than primer and the second that you put your base on whether that be sunscreen or moisturizer get ready to buff the foundation on and it will use the moisture in your face product to make it stick to all skin types for hours. Following this method will have the foundation last you like 6-12 months and have you glowing because you can never overdo it - it’s foolproof
OMG, I agree on everything especially on the frosted/metallic lipsticks! The same applies to nail polish. I’ve been collecting nail polish for years and realized a few years ago that my metallic/glitter nail polish makes my hands look older, so now I only use creams and sheer on my hands and my metallics on my toes. Thanks for another amazing video. Much love from Texas USA! 🤠
I love watching make up tutorial but this video is the only one l subscribed because her English is so clear and she is so professional. Being Filipina is hard to understand different accents but Ali Andreea talks clearly that’s make me understand every details
Perfect tips! Thank you! When I see contour on mature skin…I detest it! Also can we talk about super thick and heavy lash extensions? They look terrible on mature eyes..
This is possibly the best video I’ve seen in my life. I feel like intuitively I knew this stuff and felt it on myself but still ignored my intuition and continued making mistakes. These small changes are a world of difference!!
Dear Andrea, this is one of our best videos in the past 5 years! Indeed, it would take a little bit of wisdom, of common sense, to know what suits individual faces and ages and what doesn't. That's you are always right to teach, to advise, to show in comparison. Bravo! Love from Italy.
I watched this through and loved it. Thankfully I've found I've adjusted naturally to the dos and don't so this video has really backed up my makeup routine. The last few years with the eyes has been tricky and also the neckline but enjoying the experience as I get older. Ty x
Finally someone who agrees with me when it comes to the eyebrows..I thought I was the only one. Thank you so much for the tips! I am a beginner and now I know what I did wrong with my concealer🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Enjoy your day🌷🌷
Your videos have helped me learn how to apply makeup in your late 40's. You are very nurturing, relatable, and I've gotten back to where I love wearing makeup again. Thank you! 💌
Love this!! Like you said: these are tips for how to look good in person, I think we see too many makeup tutorials that look great on camera / Instagram. But not in real life. It’s evening time now, but cannot wait to do my makeup tomorrow and apply some of the new tips 😅
So good to hear you speak my thoughts re. changes to the way I want to do my make up as I am getting older. I never needed to darken my eyebrows before, but now I do. However, using softer lighter lines is so much better now. Contouring in the traditional sense, is also not a good look anymore. A touch of blush ON the cheek bone is all I need. Your points about the concealer are spot on. So what if a 'little bit' of dark circles show through? At least, it's not accentuating under eye wrinkles, which in turn draws attention to the concealer and powder used.
Thank you so much, I feel totally vindicated! All the no-nos you demonstrated are exactly the ones I hate too. The main problem I have now that I'm in my 50s is that my eyelids are drooping and the heat from the folds means my eye makeup vanishes real quick. Any helpful hints/advice would really be welcome ❤
I’m now 28 and have realized a lot of these tips on myself. How I did makeup in college makes me look way older than I am. But I also learned some good new tips like bronzer on the brow bone. Thank you!!
I love the exaggerated lipstick demo made me laugh. At 65 make up becomes even more of a challenge and sales people from sephora to even in high end stores are NOT interested in understanding make up for older women but will gladly take your money. Loved this tutorial, beautiful lady great advice for anyone especially older women.
I went for a makeover at Sephora when I was 47, and the makeup artist did an absolutely lovely job. I almost never used much eyeshadow and wanted to learn! I went back to her a few months later and she taught me to do a halo eye. :)
I am 48 and I think many Spanish women used to do the black line. Not so much nowadays. Maybe we tend - or I tend to get stuck in the past. This is a great video to show how to do things right! Many thanks Andrea! Love from Spain ❤️
I stopped doing my waterline and even my bottom lashes about 20 years ago (I am 48). But I still use black on the upper lid.... My hair, lashes and eyebrows are so dark... A mistake probably 🙄 greetings from Bilbao!
Thank you, thank you! This is an amazing video for us more mature girls. I am 55 and an avid follower of your tutorials, you’ve taught me so much over the past 2 years… I still can’t do color eyeshadows properly, do you think you could help? 🥰🌻
Wow!! Just happened to stumble upon this video. You r the best!! I'm just over 40 and have been struggling with my makeup application.. soooo helpful!! Thanks
Well I will be purging all my BLACK eyeliner and medium brown eyebrow liners/creams and pull out my clear eyebrow gel I've never used😵 I was in a trance watching and listening to this beauty queen👸 Thank you from a almost middle age woman.❤
This is very practical and helpful! I love how you also lace some laughter along the way. Plus you are right that we’re not Kim Kardashian. I’m a 49 yr old mom of 2 kids trying to keep up to date and look my best as I clean, shop, go to church, meet with friends and look attractive for my hubby. Thank you 🧡
Lol... same....but I went to brown a while ago . So much better!
"in what world don't you need mascara?!!" I love that ! You made me so happy watching this! For all of us women over 50 we thank you!
Except if you wear contact lenses. It's an issue for us. Eventually it falls off in the eyes or burns.
If i would put on mascara, my eyelashes gonna touch the sky 😂😂😂
But somehow found this video both educational and relaxing.
same for me :)
Not sure how I found her too so delightful and funny women either she has the best tutorial❤️
What color concealer do you use?
ppl say makeup is dead on UA-cam but look at you thriving. talent, clear instruction, humor, so refreshing
Makeup is NOT dead on YT
Finally a make-up artist who sets the record straight!
Thank you so much ❤
Oh dear, that was the most HELPFUL video I have ever seen and trust me I have seen hundreds 😂 I am 52 and am guilty of all the "wrong" ways. Tomorrow I will take this approach. So many benefits! Can you do the same for eyeshadow? I appreciate you so much ☺️💜
Oh yes, and even better with color eyeshadow! I look awful in all those browns that seem to be so popular and purples make me look like I’m one step away from the grave.
update us tomorrow and let us know how you looked after following these steps!
@@ellie7701 thank you 😁
I’m 75 and I’ve noticed that my usual make up application wasn’t working for me about 2 yrs ago… Less is more, for sure.
I wish you’d show us a tutorial using a real old person, so we can see the real results. That would be great.
Check out Lisa Eldridge, she's done that.
Check out Wayne Goss's channel, he is an amazing MUA and the majority of his videos are make up tutorials for older women (+40)
46 is not ageist…
It is a privilege that many, many people miss out on. Those people, I'm sure, would've given anything to see themselves age.
Yes you don't want to get that one too many face lifts and end up looking freakish - or not able to blink because your face is so unnaturally tight from one too many face lifts.
It is much worse not ageing🤷🏻♀️
😂@@betito5192
A tip for cool undertone ladies with eyeliner- taupe can be cool, as can a grey, eggplant purple, mauve etc :) and that usually looks better than brown if you have strong cool undertones but not as harsh as black :)
Jewel tones are fantastic, for example navy blue
But what do you do with sensitive eyes? Only black and browns are hypoallergenic…
@@navatallauner401 that depends of the brand, more than the pigment color. I have sensitive eyes and skin and I'm able to use Essence eyeliners for example
So true! I literally just bought the UD 24/7 glide-on eye pencil in Rockstar and it looks amazing on my (50y/o) eyes.
Thank you! Ali usually keeps forgetting us cool undertoned girls.
Never thought about the contouring as aging but it makes sense … and sooooooo happy to hear someone mention the too big/dark/ bold microblade eyebrow
I am a makeupartist from Vienna and really, really love this video. Thank you for "less is more", for NO black, and stay away from nude lips when you are over 40...
I am 45, love my age and can really recommend: to what she says :-)
I hate the nude lip. I don't understand why anyone wants their lips to fade.
So happy to see a SANE person talking about makeup! Thank you! They should teach this in schools :)
😂
lol exactly
Most if not all of this, is common sense...
Hahaha
Absolutely love your gentle yet blunt video for those of us aging and unclear how to be graceful about it.
I ADORE that you're not ageist and preface the video with saying it's completely natural to age! So refreshing!!
I loved this video. The "bad" side looks drawn down and dull, but the "good" side looks lifted and bright. I just turned 53, and have noticed that the less makeup I use the "younger" I look.
Less is more. Always.
In my 40's and agree 💯

Well said sir. Thank you
She doesn’t have dark circles!
@@DianeLaschatzBaca did you even read what he said?
I think blush does wonders too. More the placement and if it suits your skin tone. Some place it too low or too much, can age pretty badly.
Agreed! Along with matte heavy foundation that emphasizes wrinkles
60 and you grew up in the late 70's!?? you mean you were born in 1960s and by the late 70s you were almost 20 years old

You are very considerate to attach detailed information (inks to products mentioned, time stamps, and discount codes) that help your viewers to thoroughly understand your content.

Would love to see a youthful 60 something woman...
I'm 64 and in total agreement with you. I do sometimes wear a dark blue eye shadow as eyeliner. Never wear foundation.
I love how this is so feminine too. Full of natural curves instead of the sharpness of drag makeup or current trends. It is nice to see someone teaching good basic techniques instead of always looking like you belong on stage.

Hi Andrea! You are amazing. Can you show us a daily 5 minute, natural makeup with very few makeup essentials we can all carry in our purse?!
@@TalkShowKelly Thanks for those tips! 😊

After 50, brown mascara is a must for me and nobody can tell it’s brown! It makes a softer look that I totally need. Love love love your videos ❤️❤️❤️
I’m 31 and been using brown for the past ten years!
I have never used brown, but I will try!
It is the best! I wish it were more widely available. Often a brand offers 4 blacks but no browns at all!
I use a brownish maroon and it's less harsh than charcoal black. Brown is beautiful, they look feathery and not stiff.
I’ve always used brown, but it is difficult to find
I LOVE BROWN EYELINER! Even brown mascara, but I wish they made more deep brown colors. Often times the brown shade is too light, but blue black colors don't look good on me either.
Yes absolutely, the browns are too obviously brown so on the light side
My favorite liner is in the taupe shade from Sephora's own collection, the shade is in number 15, called Flirting Game. It's the perfect taupe, not too light or too dark. I'm 51 and I've been using it for the past 3-4 years.

Thank you thank you for saying all of this out loud. I’ve been trying to explain this to people for years. You explained it beautifully!!!
Thank you so much for sharing such a good knowledge to people like us who are in love with make up and willing to improve the technique of using it in a more more better way
I really like the way you introduce this video. And you're right, there's nothing wrong with ageing. Thank you for reinforcing that message!
As a younger man: Older beautiful women who don't cover up their beauty with makeup are incredibly attractive.
(But I do wish I had seen these videos before going through my sh*¥, lol!)
And Hornblower, what a good idea, both for the makeup and the wigs!
I’m open to looking at that product… Whether you profit from it or not. Honestly I think it’s rather sad that people feel offended if someone is linked to a product that they recommend. I work commission only and the work that I do, I stand behind 100%! I’ll talk about it even if I can’t get paid from it. But AnyWho… I appreciate you! Have a great day and Thanksgiving!🥰🙏🏾
@@hornblowingimp8653 Hey there! That sounds like total fun to me! I am up for it… We can do a video hang out for sure! Let’s connect. I hate that there is no inbox on UA-cam🤔 What’s the best way to connect?
So great to see a professional MUA giving tips for real life! Thank you!
The “baby fat” explains a lot. I am 31, and around 29 I realized that I can no longer do makeup the same way as I used to. At first it was confusing to me, I felt as though I forgot how to do my makeup during pandemic lol
I can no longer stand black liner, it just doesn’t look good on me.
Brown mascara is AWESOME! If you try one that doesn't seem pigmented enough, don't give up on it, though. Some of them just aren't dark enough TBH. 😕
I switched from black to brown a few months ago. Looks much better on me. I also forgot how to do my makeup after the Pandemic!!
@@tinamarie2121 I am pretty sure any would work for me as long it’s a good quality mascara. I do mascaraless makeup these days anyway 😊
@@edminaliutke1110 that's good to know! 🥰
Same! I’m 39 and noticed at 36 my face is different 🤬
I’m an “older” woman (57) and I so appreciate your honesty!!! 🙏🏼 My skin is pretty good but I have fine lines and more makeup just looks bad. Thank you!
She is so professional. There was a ton of advice in this video. Wow.
At the end of my thirties, I'm just learning how to apply makeup now.
It can be overwhelming, watching all those videos, with all these beautiful young girls with styles I could never pull off, and 35 products I have no idea how to use but are certainly expensive xD
With your video I'm kindof relieved I can skip right to the "less is better" minimalist part now xD
Also, your videos are very accessible, and reassuring somehow. Aging is normal :)
ty
I also really enjoy the channel Hot and Flashy for mature makeup tutorials.
I’m now 44 … and. I couldn’t agree more with the” less is more” tactic …
I have couple bottles of foundation and I use them only in little areas around my eyes and my eyelids and a couple of the little areas throughout my face…
I never could understand the “full-faced” foundation trends that women have turned towards in the past decades.. whenever I’ve attempted to try that look in the past, it always would age me …
I could not even imagine wearing a thick layer like that every day…
I love this video I was totally intrigued by every word thank you so much…
Why do women care about looking young so much? Looking your age is so class. And not catering to the leery eye of men. We are more than that women.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for a practical and doable look that is easy to apply. For me at 58, I'm finding that less is more!
Dear Andrea, this is one of our best videos in the past 5 years! Indeed, it would take a little bit of wisdom, of common sense, to know what suits individual faces and ages and what doesn't. That's you are always right to teach, to advise, to show in comparison. Bravo! Love from Italy.
Do you have a video how to apply liquid foundation for older skin ?
Thanks 🙏🏻
I watched this through and loved it. Thankfully I've found I've adjusted naturally to the dos and don't so this video has really backed up my makeup routine. The last few years with the eyes has been tricky and also the neckline but enjoying the experience as I get older. Ty x
Finally someone who agrees with me when it comes to the eyebrows..I thought I was the only one. Thank you so much for the tips! I am a beginner and now I know what I did wrong with my concealer🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Enjoy your day🌷🌷
Your videos have helped me learn how to apply makeup in your late 40's.
Yes!!!! No frosty lipsticks, no hard black eye liner. Less is more! ❤Great video!
Yes, get an eye lift! Recovery is only a couple of days and it will make a world of difference!
I’m now 28 and have realized a lot of these tips on myself. How I did makeup in college makes me look way older than I am. But I also learned some good new tips like bronzer on the brow bone. Thank you!!
This was so helpful. And I laughed so much watching this. It was great comedic relief as well as being informative. Thank you for sharing!
I have been making some of these mistakes for a while. No wonder my husband says he likes my natural skin better! This is very helpful! Thank you!
That is SO true! And they should learn, and give us the time they give the younger women... because often, we have the money and time!
I went for a makeover at Sephora when I was 47, and the makeup artist did an absolutely lovely job. I almost never used much eyeshadow and wanted to learn! I went back to her a few months later and she taught me to do a halo eye. :)
I enjoyed this. Your home girl voice came out at first with no makeup. Isn't it wonderful we get to play and be who we want when we want?!❤
By far my favourite make-up video. Her natural tone and honesty, absolutely loved this. Spot on with the advice and natural look.
"wooop she's alive!" 😆 I love your demeanour Andreea! Thank you for yet another informative yet equally entertaining video.
Thank you for your sweet honest way of presenting this info.
Sooooo helpful!
Wow!! Just happened to stumble upon this video. You r the best!! I'm just over 40 and have been struggling with my makeup application.. soooo helpful!! Thanks
Well I will be purging all my BLACK eyeliner and medium brown eyebrow liners/creams and pull out my clear eyebrow gel I've never used😵
I was in a trance watching and listening to this beauty queen👸
Thank you from a almost middle age woman.❤
This is very practical and helpful! I love how you also lace some laughter along the way. Plus you are right that we’re not Kim Kardashian. I’m a 49 yr old mom of 2 kids trying to keep up to date and look my best as I clean, shop, go to church, meet with friends and look attractive for my hubby. Thank you 🧡
