The fact that the show actually addresses it twice in Season 2 is just brilliant, in my opinion. The first time is when he implies that he's earned the nickname "The Immortal Colasour" after surviving countless encounters with the Gundams in Season 1. The second time is when Kati outright prohibits Patrick from sortieing, stating outright that she's counting on his immortality to keep them alive through the final battle against Celestial Being.
My favorite Gundam series. I love that it feels like it is not that far removed from our time now, especially with how basic the Human Reform League mobile suits were in the beginning. The FLAGs look like something Lockheed Martin would build if mechs were a real thing. It starts so grounded. It evolves into more Gundam norms later but they make the progression believable.
@@DalariusPVP Honestly, all we need is the solar ring and space elevators and this is basically a prediction of our future, at least in terms of the political, economical and military landscape... Mechs and GN Drives aside of course.
After all is said and done, 00 is hands down my favorite Gundam series. I love its message, theme, music, mecha... every last bit. And I love how it's somewhat possible to see this as a possible reality. 00 Gundam is the only PG I've bought, no regrets. As well, the only series I own the full box set for. I wish I could watch this show again for the first time.
It's even better because despite being a very meme line, it carries incredibly deep meaning. Setsuna sees Gundams (And Exia/00 in particular) as the embodiment of the future of mankind. An avatar or herald of times yet to come, where everyone can live together not without strife, perhaps, but at least without violent conflict. A humanity together, reaching for the stars. And he wishes to be such an avatar himself. To be one of the things/beings/entities that creates such a future. That is why he sees himself (and his fellow Meisters) as fundamentally indivisible from the Gundams they pilot.
@theweedeater1842 to be fair, most of gundam portrays the gundams as ultimately negative for the world they inhabit. The gundams have consistently been the vehicle in which the writers drive dark concepts like loss of innocence, forced maturity, the consequences of WMDs, and the inevitable arms race that comes with building bigger/stronger weapons of war. WFM is just extremely direct about the dehumanizing nature of the military industrial complex.
Not only the best Gundam series but honestly one of the best pieces of sci-fi ever. It tackles the same problems as previous Gundam shows but also combines them with larger societal and existential questions you usually only see in older sci-fi like the works of Asimov, Clarke, etc. The characters are also fully fleshed out and feel like real people with past, motivations, dreams, actual personalities they follow. Which is a contrast especially to Gundam Seed, where characters are just thrown around by the plot. It also does the whole _audience surrogate_ right, in a way where the character never feels invasive or stuck, he is actually part of the story and allowed to literally grow with it. The whole setting also feels very realistic, as transition to renewable energy is already happening and there's a big chance it'll turn the tables on countries that have historically relied on oil for their economies, risking whole regions like the middle east to spiral into countless civil wars. . . . Lastly (and this is a bit of a spoiler for those who haven't watched the movie, which is the always intented end of this story. So if you haven't, you should, Gundam 00 was building towards that movie from the very beginning), it has one of the best depiction of silicon-based life to ever appear in any work, be that a movie, book, animation, you name it. It's very rare for aliens to truly feel _alien_ like that. It also pairs well with the whole newtype thing because crystalline life forms would need a different way of communication. At the end of the day, Gundam 00 is not only Gundam at its finest but if you switch the mechs for tanks, spaceships, missiles, etc, it's not different from any sci-fi classic or revered war movie. And always remember: Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.
Same here it's my favorite gundam. Not my first gundam my first gundam was Wing and Destiny but to me Double O struck a chord in my heart because they rekind me of real people living real lives caught in between factions with malicious intentions. Im talking about the civilians like hakevy and crossroad
Couldn't agree more. I still liked the grounded storytelling in season 1 more than what happened in season 2 and afterwards. Nevertheless, a remarkable anime.
It's a backup ace card one of the families I trusted to manage my plan just capped my sleeping ass so I set the super computer to "erase" all CB staff and all real drives have there limiters unlocked and can operate 3x faster
Gundam 00 was the show that got me started on the entire series and model building in general. Can't wait for the s2 review, also there are side story manga for 00 where they explain what happens in-between episodes and also fill in on some scenes from the anime and goes into the backstory for Celestial Being
Yeah I found that out on the Wiki and there's one that give backstories to some of the character's parents who were Gundam Meisters. 2nd season started off good, but I thought they introduced too many characters and overcomplicated the plot with the whole aliens and evolution part. I don't think it is terrible as some fans would say.
BOTH 00 seasons are still my favourite gundam shows (including the movie). Yes, sagi is sometimes annoying in season 2, but aside from that, pretty good.
The best gundam franchise to ever exist until now. It resonates with me on how they take up the issues of real world politics. The main character is middle eastern which is different from other gundam franchise, Setsuna's flashbacks was really on point. I love this series. Im not from the middle east btw
Ive watched destiny, wing Uc, Period and z, IBO and that other one I forgot but hot danng gundam00 got to me because it mimics real life geopolitical issues and now this is relevant to me because idiot leaders all over the conflict spectrum are letting young people die but for what? For pride? For religion? For money? For public interest? For infamy? For gain? At the end of the day we all are expandable meat shields to influencial high status overlords
Graham going toe to toe against Throne Eins with a Union Flag and actually winning is truly one of the highlights of the first season. When he says "I don't care how much better your machine is. Today I'm beyond that!" while charging at the gundam, always sends shivers down my spine.
Remember this line from Aeolia Schenberg's speech in episode 1: "The Dialogues to Come" and the "ship from Jupiter" that the Union professor found out coz those two factoids will come up again all the way to the movie. Also don't skip the Lockon's/Neil's cemetery scene coz it established that Neil has a twin brother (😏). All those setups really shows that the writers of Gundam 00 really had a great overarching plan for their saga from beginning to end. Also, it's kinda creepy how Gundam 00 with the KPSA terrorist organization that Setsuna once a member of have pockets around the world and managed to do some big attacks on Europe (killing Lockon/Neil's family in one of them) kinda predicted the rise of ISIS/ISIL, a terrorist organization that was worse than Al Qaeda and was able to have pockets around the world through their "remote teachings" and managed to do sporadic attacks around the world too, not unlike the ones that killed Lockon's family. Gundam 00 can be too real sometimes 😮
The HRL has also aged poorly. I mean the Tierien's were always crap. But if it was done nowadays Sergei and Soma would have been turned into cosmonauts.
@@TheWarmachine375 That's why i call them crap. Because they are fat ugly Zaku's. At least they have decent pilots. Which is more than i can say about the Enact.
While I prefer other seasons for purely personal reasons, Gundam 00 is quite possibly the peak of the series for me. It has been seventeen years and the only more impactful show for me was Gundam Build Fighters which directly impacted my life by inspiring me to start building and customizing my own gunpla.
God I loved Gundam 00, the Finale of the 1st season really hits hard and sets up the 2nd Season So well! And It makes me Appreciate how Much went into the Strengths of these characters and the Movie puts a Capstone unto the series by doing something not a Lot of Gundam series did! HAVE A GOOD ENDING THAT BRINGS WORLD PEACE! Not sense Endless Waltz have I felt such a strong attachment towards this Anime :)
I'm not sure why this entry is so disliked. I enjoyed it greatly when I watched it in . . . 2019? It's been a while and I'm getting old. I may rewatch it someday just to catch up, but it's a solid series and deserves more love. Since you mentioned Tieria, one thing I DO recall is how uppity he was. The dude only talked about four things: Aeolia Schenberg, Veda, Innovators, Innovades. He's the "this one time at band camp" guy but instead of band camp he's saying, "remember when veda and i . . ."
Let me preface this by saying 00 is one of my favorites and was my first gundam. Thing is it's beautiful, but the character designs are very polarizing in that way that anime has tried to move away from. The mobile suits are really awesome, but many of the non gundam suits look like armored cores and not mobile suits, and even the gundams themselves are one design with a few tweaks. The show is really deep and willing to dive deep into certain topics other shows wouldn't but it lays a lot of itself on THICK. Gundam 00 is polarizing because if it works for you it really works for you, but if it doesn't every strength has an easy flaw to nit pick at.
Actually, I think Gundam 00 is one of the most popular & fav among Gundam fans. The gunpla kits of Gundam Exia alone has one of the biggest sales in Gunpla history, especially since we are talking about Gundam universe series outside the UC timeline. My childhood was basically in Gundam Wing Era, but I can assure you that Gundam 00 is my personal fav & most effected me as Gundam fan throughout the years.
I really really enjoyed everything about 00. It was the brief outline of the story and the mech design in one of the Super Robot Wars series that led me to finally watch all the Gundam series and this was one of my favourites.
I've really enjoyed seeing your thoughts on some of the Gundam series after going through them myself for the first time, and now you're finally at the show that started my addiction six months ago and I can't wait to dig in. Thanks for making my experience with this crazy franchise that little bit more enjoyable!
Gundam 00 is absolutely one of my favorite gundam series and my favorite of the alternative universe to this day, I love both seasons and really liked the movie and think that it holds up beautifully over 10 years later and is the one I highly recommend for newcomers.
Gundam 00 is so special man. I remember tuning into Spike TV late at night to catch episodes as a kid. 00 is genuinely a top 3 Gundam series, both seasons and the movie are phenomenal, now we have 3rd season scheduled for 2024, absolutely psyched.
@@maree5282 just hearing about it? Yeah, it follows Celestial Being's actions after the events of the movie, but before the massive time skip. Hope you're ready for Graham Aker to be a Gundam.
HELL YES 00 TIME My still favourite to date gundam series for being so insanely good. The politics, the pacing, the outcome, the set up of the s2 plot, saji and lousie, Graham aker, lockon dying, and best of all plot armor done right PATRICK "THE IMMORTAL AND INCREDIBLY LUCKY" COLLOSAUR. Immortal, plot armor god, has a dumb and endearing character you grow to love and enjoy. Especially the wedding. Can't forget ballgown tierea. Also Smirnov and his daughter Soma, and Andrei "death to my father" Smirnov, RIBBONS ALMARK, Sachez the Psychopath, Hallelujah's torture... Can't wait for your s2 video.
This series is A1 Peak Gundam to me, if I didnt grow up with Gundam Wing, this would be my favorite Gundam series ever. So good. Its SciFi heaven. It even premiered the English Dub in the Sci Fi channel on mondays
This is by far my favorite Gundam series. It is nearly perfect. The story, the characters, the mechs, the music (holy hell the music!). I still occasionally pop in some favorite episodes. I always tear up for Lockon's death. "Lockon...Lockon....Lockon." Just hits me every time. I haven't really caught the movie, but I do know of the plot and such. Hopefully you'll cover that after S2. And hopefully you're eagerly awaiting this wknd for G-Witch's return.
To think my favourite gundam series of all time has a kurdish character and setsuna... And to think my favourite game franchise of all time mgs has sniper wolf another kurdish character is crazy. I wish japan made more kurdish characters. Super cool
something I do love is how Gram kept jumping Setsuna when ever he thought the job was done man did it three times and by the end was fighting on par from pure skill alone, what a legend! also I do love how you talked positivly about the framing of the Saji seagments I felt it helped so much with the story of the world
Can’t wait until you cover Iron Blooded Orphan. From what I understand it was not a huge hit in Japan but it’s one of my favorites. Although it pushes the child soldier and overall darkness of Gundam even farther. Where 00 can feel like a reaction of 911 and the start of the War on Terror, IBO definitely captures the “forever war” feeling that the War on Terror stretching into its second decade had on the world. Also with commentary on subcontracted “security” firms handling nations wars more and more. At least that’s my read on it. Good show overall and the Barbatos is a top tier cool weird design for a Gundam
Graham is one of the best gundam characters period! Also makes sense he shares a voice actor with Io who is also someone that loves going to the edge of what a mobile suit can do and doesn’t care if it’s a prototype or not: they’ll drive them to the ground to win!
As someone who followed a similar path to you and watched all of the Gundam series in airing order Gundam 00 was pretty easily my favorite. Like you said, it had just great mix of everything from action to politics to character development and having a good mix of quality and quantity of characters and the relatability to our modern society
there was a joke about Alejandro's death. When he punched the screen, he accidentally activated the self destruct button that is behind the screen or something
I always felt that Gundam 00 is pretty much what Gundam SEED/DESTINY should have been if it had just done its own thing and had a straight narrative direction.
Gundam 00 is the enhanced & more solid version of 2000s Gundam era with Gundam SEED started it. Although, I would personally say Gundam SEED simply have its own unique charms than no other Gundam series so far yet ever replicate. The 2000s romance shoujo elements & telenovela levels of conflicts gave that guilty pleasure feelings imo LOL
Funny, I've always viewed 00 as a more developed take on Wing. The Gundams being uniquely powerful advanced machines that utterly crush all opposition and the consequences to the political schemers of the world it's set in. The whole large scale schemes within schemes and factional infighting thing done better, and the philosophical argument being made delivered with more skill and a deeper understanding. (Even counting Endless Waltz) Heck, even the theme of 'the pilots are pawns until they decide to make their own way' is executed better here than in Wing. There's a laundry list of reasons why, from the smaller scale thanks to not having space colonies in the mix, to the avoidance of melodrama and giving the government forces more character and time to shine on screen. But at the end of the day, that's been my take on 00. That while Seed was essentially 'What if we did 0079 today?' 00 was 'What if we played Gundam Wing's themes and motifs seriously?'
Your ears must have been ringing, because I was just thinking about when this would come out! Looking forward to listening to this while doing taxes. Thank you, and keep up the great work!
Dude, I love that you use classic JRPG music as the bg for your videos. Also, imo this show is Wing done much more competently. Very similar themes, much better execurion.
Interested to hear your thoughts on where 00 goes next, personally I think the show just gets better as it goes on. Easily my favorite of the franchise.
Ah yes, Gundam 00…such a good series and the best entry in the franchise to play a drinking game with. Take a shot anytime someone says, Gundam, Gundam Meister or Celestial Being…just be careful with the first episode. Also, LONG LIVE THE IMMORTAL PATRICK COLASOUR xD
@@Tyrarl And if you REALLY want to press your luck, take a shot whenever Allelujah says, “I HAVE CONTROL” in Engrish, “Marie Parfacy”, “Hallelujah”, when his Quantum Brainwaves act up, and whenever one if the Meisters says their “catch phrase” before starting a fight. The only other entries in this franchise I can think of that can be watched while playing a drinking game are Gundam Wing and the Cosmic Era shows xD
Gundam 00 is one of my favorite side universes and shows in all of Gundam and it’s what I recommend whenever anyone says they want to get into gundam but don’t know where to start
This is my favorite series in the franchise and it probably won't change. I just think they timed this perfect and everything just works for me, even considering the few things I don't like
Here we are, Gundam OO, currently my favorite Gundam series. The mobile suits are top tier with the non Celestial Being Mobile suits looking cool yet anachronistic in their own ways compared to the Gundams which look and perform like they came from the future and just crushed them at nearly every encounter. At least until Corner sold the Pseudo Solar Drives to the three major powers where the new GNX's clapped Celestial Being's cheeks. Of the Season 1 Gundams I think I love the Virtue since BIG GUN!!! The Characters are compelling in their own ways with Setsuna, well definitely having the most legit reason to be edgy of any Gundam Protagonist, I mean, jeez. At first I was like "why are we here?" whenever we cut to Saji and Louise doing their schtick. But then Louise's family was killed by that psychopath Nina FOR LITERALLY NO REASON OTHER THAN SHE WAS LIKE "oh those assholes are looking too happy I don't like that one bit!" And afterwords Saji and Louise, season 1 had them shoved feet first into a meat grinder to say nothing of what they, especially Louise get put through in season 2. Back to Nina, she was so petty and demonic it made Dio Brando blush. Hell Team Trinity was a gang of rabid animals and seeing Johann and Michael get gunned down like thugs was so sweet. But speaking of, Ali Al-Saachez stole the show for me as my current favorite villain in Gundam. Not only is he like Yazan from Zeta on crack but the dude is just such a piece of garbage you can't help but be transfixed on him wondering how far he's gonna go. Besides, he's played in English by Scott McNeil, you can't go wrong with Scott McNeil. So yeah Season 1 was crazy and now to see Season 2 and the consequences of Celestial Being's armed interventions.
Fun Fact, Azadistan was a real world shot-lived nation, that is now Iran. My Middle Eastern geography and politics are a little rough, but Azadistan was basically formed on top of the Kurds. It's highly likely that "Krugiss" is a botched localisation of "Kurdish". Given the Azadistan in Gundam 00 was founded by annexing Setsuna's home nation, I think it's probable that this mirrors the historical Azadistan's annexation of Kurdish land.
Gundam 00 is perhaps the greatest non-UC Gundam series ever made and my personal top favorite Gundam series alongside Turn A and Zeta. There are numerous stand-out aspects of the show, including but not limited to Setsuna being the "best Gundam" (well, aside from Gundam NT's Rita Bernal, that is), GN-001 Gundam Exia being the "best girl", Sumeragi being one of the best female captains in the series, the Immortal Colasour existing to make fun of Kira's plot-armor moments, interesting cast of characters, cool mobile suit designs, kickass musics, etc. I'd say Gundam 00 is the best starting point for newcomers who are interested on getting into Gundam series but found the entire UC series to be a bit too long for their taste (from 0079/The Origin all the way to Victory or G-Reco). Although I'd recommend Gundam X as well because of its bigger similarities to UC.
Gundam 00 caught me by surprise. I was expecting it to be pretty good but it absolutely blew me away. The scene with Allelujah attacking that building and the first time Setsuna activates Trans-Am are both such great scenes for different reasons
I started on 00 although I knew of Gundam from childhood. Really enjoyed it and it delivered on everything an old school syfy fan could hope for. I then watched the 3 full length OG's + Chars. Enjoyed those even more!
Graham is essentially the resident and obligatory Char clone, complete with the classical "three times faster than the normal specs" line, except without the usual mask or red paint-job. ^^ "Drei" is German for three and is pronounced quite similar to the English dry. To me 00 feels like a refinement of many concepts that have been done more clumsily (by comparison) on earlier Gundam series. Setsuna makes so much more sense as the "secret agent" emotionless, pretty-much-suicidal kid than Hero Yui for a very obvious example. If you wonder about the name of the series, it will make sense come season 2. I have a soft spot for the HRE's blocky suits clearly built solely for functionality and screw esthetics. ^^
Not gonna lie this series is my favourite The Universal Century Is Still Awesome Char Aznable is still my favourite character. But 00 was my first gundam so it holds a special place in my heart
I love how what gundam a plant the seeds of in one series bloomin another I've heard this described as a more fleshed-out version of Gundam Wing and I can certainly see that and what this series had to say about child soldiers would ultimately be expanded upon in iron blooded orphans Gundam Wing is a distant relative of oo and oo and iron blooded orphans are blood relatives
Gundam 00 is fascinating in how deeply embedded into it is the vibe of the War on Terror in much the same way as the Battlestar Galactica reboot or 24 was, and how it connects to Japan's experience of those times. Iraq was the first time the JSDF were deployed overseas since WWII (And the JSDF forces in Iraq needed guarding from the terrorists by other members of the Coalition of the Willing due to their inexperience in combat), and the kidnapping of Japanese nationals by terrorists in Iraq which caused a storm in Japan. So to have the Gundams themselves as the terrorists, a middle easterner as the MC and copying the Wech Baghtu wedding party airstrike almost verbatim was certainly a bold act on the part of Sunrise. With all that said it makes sense that the response to 00's first season was panic by the Bandai suits over such controversial content that lead to the disappointing Zeta retreat that was 00 S2 (which is part of the unholy trinity of Gundam sequel disasters alongside SEED Destiny and IBO S2), but I'm sure Retcon-404 will have a bit to say about that when that video debuts.
This is the Gundam series I like the most due to the fact that its story is leaning to the political aspect by showing how twisted the world can be which put some realistic touch to the story.
Celestial Being:We will stop war with war .Uniting Humanity By being defeated In Gundam 00 The Gundam is the embodiment of the pilots. What a great series, amazing mecha, unique gimmicks, great character development.
I've waited 4000 no 5000 years for this! Commenting before I watch because this is possibly my favorite Gundam next to G Gundam. I'm always happy to see people talk about Gundam 00.
what i really find interesting about 00 is that the gundam meisters(and the entire crew of celestial being) really came from almost corner of the world we have the Middle eastern (fictional country) Setsuna we haev Haleluja Haptism who is from Kazakhstan Lockon Stratos who is from ireland Sumeragi who is from spain and also Very different paths of life From the former child soldier Setsuna to the civilian whos life got ruined by war(Lockon) the human testsubject to the former military strategist to the former members of Médecins Sans Frontières etc its really a hotpodge of ideals and concepts
You forgot an important note here. With the 3 organizations coming together, Celestial Being has completed the 1st Stage of Aoelia Schenberg's plan(which really isn't his true goal).
I love this Gundam as much as I do Wing. I will say they kind of Fast and Furious the story from this point forward. Everything stays tied together but, they deviated quite a distance from just street racing and boosting gear. However the action, animation, and Fandom for the characters keeps you invested. The mecha from the 00 series/movie are some of my favorites in the series including tge grunt suits. I could barely keep my eyes open with seed.
Good video! Definitely agree this is one of the best Gundam series for overall ease of getting into the content. Hope you also do the movie as that really takes it in a fun direction
This is the Gundam show with the best political sub-plot. And i also love how Celestial Being actually tries to end all wars, by becoming the global boogie man and forcing the main factions to unite to fight them.
This is, to this day, my favorite Gundam anime, and one of my favorite anime in general. Plus it's one of the few anime that I actually prefer watching in English rather than Japanese.
14:00 - I really liked the Terribia Conflict. CB really just pulled the Reverse UNO card on them. They basically said, “You want us to get involved with your little rebellion? Okay, we’ll side with other guys!”
Setsuna says their no God every 10 seconds and ignores a literal warmonger was the one who used him as that turned into lock ons storyline. THANK YOU
The hate he gets is totally undeserved.
FR Saji dosent deserve so much hate, especially on how bad he went through during season 1.
I thought his high school sub plot is boring but after that wow... i feel bad for him :(
I love Trans-Am because it's not a get-out-of-jail-free card it's a desperation high-risk high-reward thing
I had a roommate that would say "transam" and would then sprint around the house doing chores at lightning speed
Gundam 00's kaio-ken
@@mcdoubler Yeah the starting eps are a little cramped but it sorta works out once they reach the second half and everything comes together
As a Mexican fan, 00 brought me back to the series after Gundam Wing.
RG Exia was a fun build. I have the MG Kyrios sitting in my backlog right now and thinking about doing that next after I finish my Zeta Ver Ka.
You got me to check out the SRW OST, and Jesus, the instrumental versions of the openings are amazing.
BOTH 00 seasons are still my favourite gundam shows (including the movie). Yes, sagi is sometimes annoying in season 2, but aside from that, pretty good.
Agreed
As a Mexican fan, 00 brought me back to the series after Gundam Wing.
I love 00 but IBO is my pick for goat at this point.
Graham going toe to toe against Throne Eins with a Union Flag and actually winning is truly one of the highlights of the first season. When he says "I don't care how much better your machine is. Today I'm beyond that!" while charging at the gundam, always sends shivers down my spine.
Graham and Stratos are the highlights of the show for sure
@@fationmuhollari9768 yeah.
Almost makes you wonder what Sunrise knows...
Harsher In Hindsight
The HRL has also aged poorly. I mean the Tierien's were always crap. But if it was done nowadays Sergei and Soma would have been turned into cosmonauts.
@@aliastheabnormal Tierens were the Zaku expy
@@TheWarmachine375 That's why i call them crap. Because they are fat ugly Zaku's. At least they have decent pilots. Which is more than i can say about the Enact.
Gundam 00 is still my favorite anime
As a Mexican fan, 00 brought me back to the series after Gundam Wing.
He's the "this one time at band camp" guy but instead of band camp he's saying, "remember when veda and i . . ."
"VEDA thinks im handsome..."
It's only disliked by Seed fans.
@@bendonatier nothing wrong with Armored Core looking mechs in Gundam shows. If anything the designs resemble MTs and NORMALs more than ACs.
As a Mexican fan, 00 brought me back to the series after Gundam Wing.
3rd season?
Is it one of the side stories?
2027 is when the 3rd season comes out
WHAT
@@maree5282 just hearing about it? Yeah, it follows Celestial Being's actions after the events of the movie, but before the massive time skip.
Hope you're ready for Graham Aker to be a Gundam.
@passingrando6457
Oh, you mean the glorious... GRAHAM GUNDAM?
HELL YES 00 TIME
My still favourite to date gundam series for being so insanely good.
Graham Akeer is easily one of the best MS pilots, full stop. Toe to toe with a Gundam in a stock pre-Gundam grunt is something even Char can't claim.
Gawd damn 00 became unto a religion to me. Loved the Gundam team, loved the themes covered.
Super cool
This is my favorite Gundam series!
00 is my go to for a 50 episode, and a movie, excursion into Gundam.
something I do love is how Gram kept jumping Setsuna when ever he thought the job was done
man did it three times and by the end was fighting on par from pure skill alone, what a legend!
also I do love how you talked positivly about the framing of the Saji seagments I felt it helped so much with the story of the world
Can’t wait until you cover Iron Blooded Orphan.
As someone who followed a similar path to you and watched all of the Gundam series in airing order
Gundam 00 was pretty easily my favorite. Like you said, it had just great mix of everything from action to politics to character development and having a good mix of quality and quantity of characters and the relatability to our modern society
This is one of my favourite non UC timeline shows... and some of my favourite designs as well
As a Mexican fan, this is the anime that borught me back to the franchise after Gundam Wing.
Can't wait till you get to Iron Blooded Orphans.
Setsuna having the darkest backstory is debatable. Allelujah can make a strong case for that title. Also Ali Al Saachez best villian.
This is still the high mark to beat when it comes to spinoff Gundam continuities IMO.
My gamer tag since 07 has been Exias unit code
Thank you for making this video
there was a joke about Alejandro's death. When he punched the screen, he accidentally activated the self destruct button that is behind the screen or something
Ribbons not only disabled his veta login but he told his solid gold GM to self destruct
Nuanced story telling, topical commentary, all accompanied by giant robot action. 00 was so good.
Dude, I love that you use classic JRPG music as the bg for your videos.
Also, imo this show is Wing done much more competently. Very similar themes, much better execurion.
Msg 00 will be my by far favorite from gundam franchise i marathon the series in 1 and a half day lmao
dude, Patrick Colasour's plot armor is no joke.
It's as much of a meme as "I am Gundam", if not more.
00 is the spiritual successor to Wing as Seed and GSD is to 0079 and Zeta
I've come to comment I'm excited to see this drop.
Now I'll have something to look forward to when I get off work
Interested to hear your thoughts on where 00 goes next, personally I think the show just gets better as it goes on.
Take a shot every time a character is addressed by their full name. Two shots for "Sumeragi Lee Noriega" cause damn that's a mouthful.
The only other entries in this franchise I can think of that can be watched while playing a drinking game are Gundam Wing and the Cosmic Era shows xD
i slept on gundam 00 for so long, but when i watched it, i truly fell in love with the series as a whole
Gundam 00 is one of my favorite side universes and shows in all of Gundam and it’s what I recommend whenever anyone says they want to get into gundam but don’t know where to start
This is my favorite series in the franchise and it probably won't change. I just think they timed this perfect and everything just works for me, even considering the few things I don't like
Best Gundam series ever.
The real goal of celestial being was to become public enemy number 1, thus uniting the factions. This goes horribly wrong as we see in season 2.
And A laws was made but at the same time other factions still kept on oppressing each other
very underrated channel. Thank you.
So glad you've enjoyed 00 so far. It's the series I recommend over SEED, or IBO to new gundam fans everytime.
So yeah Season 1 was crazy and now to see Season 2 and the consequences of Celestial Being's armed interventions.
if it isn't obvious, you can tell 00 is my favorite anime, cuz I based my whole internet personality on it
One of my favorite (if not my favorite) Gundam series. I do think it's a great first Gundam series!
Season 1: "Definitely a nice change of pace from the beam spam that Gundam can sometimes devolve into."

Top tier Gundam series
Absolutely love this show
Fun Fact, Azadistan was a real world shot-lived nation, that is now Iran.
"Drei" is German for three and is pronounced quite similar to the English dry.
Not gonna lie this series is my favourite
The Universal Century Is Still Awesome
Char Aznable is still my favourite character.
But 00 was my first gundam so it holds a special place in my heart
Gundam 00 isnt just my fav gundam show but my fav anime and may actually be one of my fav shows ever.
I love how what gundam a plant the seeds of in one series bloomin another I've heard this described as a more fleshed-out version of Gundam Wing and I can certainly see that and what this series had to say about child soldiers would ultimately be expanded upon in iron blooded orphans
Gundam Wing is a distant relative of oo and oo and iron blooded orphans are blood relatives
00 was first gundam anime that pulled me in, I have Master Grade Dynames, Kyrios and Virtue standing proud on my shelf
Celestial Being:We will stop war with war
.Uniting Humanity By being defeated
In Gundam 00 The Gundam is the embodiment of the pilots. What a great series, amazing mecha, unique gimmicks, great character development.
Lockon's death hit so hard, specially because of the Haro's reaction :c
"Lockon...Lockon...Lockon" 🥺 (TEARS)
I've waited 4000 no 5000 years for this! Commenting before I watch because this is possibly my favorite Gundam next to G Gundam. I'm always happy to see people talk about Gundam 00.
what i really find interesting about 00 is that the gundam meisters(and the entire crew of celestial being) really came from almost corner of the world
we have the Middle eastern (fictional country) Setsuna
we haev Haleluja Haptism who is from Kazakhstan
Lockon Stratos who is from ireland
Sumeragi who is from spain
and also Very different paths of life
From the former child soldier Setsuna
to the civilian whos life got ruined by war(Lockon)
the human testsubject
to the former military strategist
to the former members of Médecins Sans Frontières etc
its really a hotpodge of ideals and concepts
You forgot an important note here. With the 3 organizations coming together, Celestial Being has completed the 1st Stage of Aoelia Schenberg's plan(which really isn't his true goal).
26:20 Drei is pronounced kinda like dry. It's the German word for three.
00 is one of the best underrated Gundam series and anime in general.
I am convinced that 00 used the original plotline for SEED Destiny as Shinn was supposed to take the lead (like how Setsuna is on here).
Good video! Definitely agree this is one of the best Gundam series for overall ease of getting into the content. Hope you also do the movie as that really takes it in a fun direction
All I can say about 00 is I'm Gundam
This is the Gundam show with the best political sub-plot. And i also love how Celestial Being actually tries to end all wars, by becoming the global boogie man and forcing the main factions to unite to fight them.
Awesome, I actually just finished watching season 1 last weekend.
This was my first anime 15+ years ago and its still one of my favorites! 🙂
So far it's my favorite
I will NEVER get over the name Allelujah Haptism. It is so stupid and yet so badass at the same time.
Yeah...same...he's my favorite Meister with my favorite GUNDAM unit.
I've been looking forward to this one! 00 is one of my favorite gundam series!
Okay, we’ll side with other guys!”
lockon stratuss is believed to be the originator of the term husbando.
00 is so damn good
Best series in gundam, it's gorgeous, enthralling, has something to say but isn't preachy, and has a style to it that sticks with you.
Setsuna says their no God every 10 seconds and ignores a literal warmonger was the one who used him as that turned into lock ons storyline. It's kinda preachy probably the most preachy of the shows especially when it was made. It's just the cast is best overall
I mean ibo they don't know God or afterlives and seed you see how minipilation works
The best is 0079
Best gundam series
