I lost my faith when I became disabled. Overnight I lost my career in palliative care, my husband abandoned me and everything else went wrong. It took me years to come to terms with everything. Finding your channel during this pandemic has really been for me what I needed. My faith in God was coming back but listening to you has made me realise just how I blamed God for everything that went wrong. Never seeing how I was helped to have the strength to get through everything that happened or realising that what I perceived at the time as a completely awful time helped me change how I lived my life. So thank you

Very timely message, Brother Casey. I’m sponsoring an RCIA candidate, and we were just talking about how working to bring about God’s kingdom can feel pretty lonely sometimes. I can tell you through my own experience that you sow more seeds than you can imagine through your ministry, and I am so grateful for it.

It's great to hear from you again brother Casey. For what it's worth, I find what you say inspiring. I was concerned that I had not seen a UA-cam post in a month. I'm not a young guy (age 69) old enough to be your grandpa, and I've seen a lot in my life. Right now I see a young generation (milenials) who are caught up in the world, don't care much about "organized religion" and I simply don't see many at Church. My wife and I are in marriage preparation ministry and what we see is disheartening. Last year in our parish, there were about 90 young people confirmed, yet we only had 13 marriages in our church. Huge disconnect. So you my friend are a breath of fresh air, almost unique among your peers. Please continue to plant your seeds...

Brother Casey I just wanted to let you know how much your videos have meant to me. I always considered myself Catholic but Through your videos I have understood what being Catholic really is. You have helped me get closer to God and for that I am always going to be grateful to you. Your videos have made me think of things I never would have. And in the way it has healed my soul. So thank you. And God bless you.

Dear Brother Casey, you have made a huge difference in my life. Your videos inspire me! Sometimes they make me laugh. Like the one about proper footwear for friars or the one about how to wear your habit and not get food on your sleeves, putting on a coat over your habit, etc. But mostly, you give me hope for the future. In a world that is becoming increasingly more secular, you remind me that our Heavenly Father has reserved righteous spirits like you to come forth in the last days to help prepare the earth for the second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And the thousand years of peace that will follow when He rules this earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. I am not Catholic. But I believe there will be people of good will from all denominations that will greet Christ when He comes. And these same people, like you, will be instrumental in preparing the earth and it's people for that great day in whatever church or place of the vineyard He has planted them. You are my brother in Christ. I see Him in working through you you to help feed and care for his sheep. Even those of us in the choir get discouraged and/or distracted sometimes. When you're videos pop up on my feed, it helps to remind me of what's really important and to stop feeling sorry for myself. I really hope that I am able to meet you in person some day. God bless you in all of your righteous endeavors. You are making a HUGE difference. Much more than I think you know. God's speed Brother!

Fr. Casey-I’m not a Catholic, and I don’t always agree with you, , but I find your content thought provoking, entertaining, and enjoyable to watch.
As a Jewish person, my highest value is Tikkun Olam, the repair of the world. It is clear to me that you have dedicated your life, your talents and your passions toward repairing the world. I find that very inspiring, and it’s one of the reasons I enjoy being a witness to your journey.
So, for what it’s worth, I think you are making a big difference. You are setting an example for how to live in good faith (literally), and your example inspires me to be better. Please keep it up, and God bless.

Brother, YOU ARE making a difference in the world, and in the lives of your subscribers! The small things we DO make a difference. I appreciate your fresh, and youthful, perspective on topics. Glad to see you're back. I pray the new semester goes well for you. Everyone in the public light, priests, politicians..., will always be congratulated, and scrutinized. I taught CCD for several years to various grammar school grades. They can be tough and challenging. I often wondered if I was reaching them. I'm sure I did. Perhaps not all children in the same way at the same time. A great prayer to end with.Good choice of graphics.

Witnessing Christ is a lot like teaching-much persistent work and effort without knowing if you are getting through. About 20 years after I left my first teaching assignment, I had a student call and ask if I was the person who used to teach band at the school. I said yes and he said that a group wanted to get together to let me know just how much they appreciated what I had done for them. Clearly, I was floored. They had all become quite successful in their own right with families of their own. I was lucky. I got feedback. Often, like you commented, we don’t know. But, like you I believe that we must keep doing what is right and do it the very best that we can. Our small light will make a big difference in a world of darkness. Brother Casey, you do make a difference. Keep it up. Looking forward to your ordination this spring.

And from someone almost 3 times your age, I can tell you I have discovered decades later how much of a difference I made in other’s lives...people who I did not even know were “watching” me. So keep up you your hopes and just do the “best” you can and trust in God that it helps. It will in ways you may never know.

God bless you Br Casey. Keep on with what you're doing - in this day and age young men with your faith and enthusiasm are desperately needed. You may never know the results of the seeds you have planted in the hearts and minds of others but maybe some day out of the blue someone will come and say I was touched by something you said and this is what I did with it !! I've had this happen with pupils I taught, Mrs P I'm a journalist because you taught me a love of English; Mrs P I graduated with honours in History and English ; Mrs P I never read a book until you taught me how to read. It can take a lifetime before one can measure the difference one has made and even a drop in the ocean will have been worth the effort.

Brother Casey,. I felt called back in the 80's to devote my prayer life to pray for priests and for vocations. When I see young men such as yourself who are so in love with Our Lord and are spreading the Good News..in ways I couldn't even imagine back in the 80s ..it magnifies just how awesome God is and how much He loves us that He would raise men up to help us be the people God wants us to be and to give to us Himself at Mass everyday!
You are going to be an amazing Priest! You are touching lives everyday and don't just think you are preaching to the choir because I ..and I'm sure others...are referring your channel to friends who I personally know have been impacted in very beautiful ways by your videos! May God richly bless your ministry! I hope someone records your ordination because I know many of us would love to be small part of such a wonderful celebration! God bless you!🌹

    Thanks for that. Very helpful.
I have - or maybe still am in one - experienced a low period of doubt, even despair. I walked away from a lucrative career as a pharmacist because I did not want to participate in abortion and assisted suicide. My country's government compels us health professionals to formally cooperate in these activities. I feel like I wasted my education and have struggled to stay afloat financially. Most people - including other Catholics - think I'm crazy. Maybe I am, I'm beginning to think. I'm not even preaching to a choir. I'm isolated. In fact, I've begun the process to reactivate my pharmacy licence. Not saying I will but I am wondering . . . or wandering.

    • @seanpatrick7019
      @seanpatrick7019 6 років тому +9

@@BreakingInTheHabit I have. I am beginning to see that most of my despair is rooted in my aversion to the cross I chose to bear in making my decision. Recently I've been asking for the grace to be strong enough to live with integrity, come what may. I've also started to see that perhaps I've needed to see how self-invested I am - vain - before I can begin to actually "repent and hear the Good News". And maybe I need to receive the forgiveness that's been offered and apply it to myself (a big temptation of mine is to give in to self-condemnation). These are all things I am bringing to prayer.

Being "idealistic" is not in any way to be disparaged. Too many people today are "satisfied" with mediocrity. While we may never see the ways in which we affect climate change, the environment, or even other people's lives, be assured we do. What, after all, would it be like if one DIDN'T do those things? I have learned in my lifetime (and I am FAR older than you) is that "caring" will ALWAYS win over not caring, loving will ALWAYS triumph over apathy. Francis (whose tomb I have prayed at in Assisi many times) was a person of ideals. He never saw the changes in the church he made possible. Trust in God is what truly matters--and that's the ultimate idealism.

You have had a huge influence in my life. You, along with Bishop Barron, have brought me back to faith in God, back from a place that I didn't realise was destroying me. My faith is restored and your video messages have been a key part of that. I know I am not the only person that you have helped to save in this way, and even if I was the only one, surely that is worth it? Christ Himself did not reach all of the people who heard Him. He too faced those who were angered because His words went against their ideology. There will always be those who refuse to believe in the truth because it makes their lives uncomfortable, or leaves them feeling vulnerable, or afraid, or guilty. You're doing the right thing, a good thing, a worthwhile thing, because you are presenting choices to people who might otherwise never stop to consider those choices. Some will choose to go on the way they were, others will choose to change, but everyone will know that there are those like yourself who are there, filled with Faith in God and ready to welcome the repentant sinner, to offer help and love no matter what. May God bless you and all men and women who give their lives to the service of God.

Thank you. Sometimes it is really hard. But when I find those questions in me, the answer to me is what Jesus said to St. Faustina: it matter not what others do with what you give. I look only that you've given. And what St. Paul says: as long as you do what you do with love. Because, out of love, nothing matters. But, done in love, the smalest gesture gets to be a door to eternal life to all around us. I pray for you. What you do matters immensely.

With the very 1st video saw 1 year ago, my immediate concern, as I could see you were a seminarian, was a blight of “am I making a difference “ that might crop up in your outlook and prayer life. I was a Buddhist student for 9 years before returning to Catholicism. I learned deeply the interconnectedness of all things. The zen students asked constantly “am I making a difference@. It was the #3 most zen lectured topic. (Interconnectedness of all things means we all share each other’s faults and crimes and share each other’s love and charity).

I totally agree with you Br. Casey. I also experience feelings you describe from time to time and I just can appreciate the advice you give. Another thought that gives me hope has been written by Joseph Ratzinger in his book "Introduction to Christianity". There he mentions all kind of doubts on the issues of christian faith which make it sometimes very difficult to believe. But despite of all these doubts there exists the "perhaps", the "perhaps it's all true": What if Christ really - really! - has risen from the dead?! Then everything changes: our faith and all our efforts to make the world a better place accomplish a reality which is far more "realistic" than all doubts ever can be.... God bless you and all your work on social networks! Your videos reach the heart of so many people. And I am one of them.

Being a Franciscan is about following Jesus (as was Francis' desire)... your conversation/monologue here is a healthy step I that direction, I think. It doesn't really matter if you're "making a difference," does it? - as long as you're following Jesus in the process. The poem you chose to close with summarizes it very well. And remember that it was in Francis' spiritual struggle near the end of his life that he received the Stigmata... not because he was perfect but because he was willing to face the struggle. :-) Keep up the good work.

It is difficult to not use those corporations that conflict with our values, but if we all work together we can and do make a difference. Thank you for supporting our values.

Whether u want to know it or not, dear Br Casey, I wish to acknowledge that u r doing something more than u think u r doing. Personally, u make me stop for a moment to reflect on ur words. Truth be told, it hasn't upturned my life but certainly it has altered a bit. Little things have changed which I am sure will become great things someday. Thanks a lot and God bless!

These lessons I have learned through gardening during droughts, floods and fires. It's a hard time to be a friar in America I guess, but God created the world and said it was good. Keep shining the Divine's light, Brother Casey.

I missed you. You can and will make a difference. Your youthfulness and enthusiasm combined with your depth of knowledge of Jesus is very refreshing. You have seen and heard God through Jesus, and I believe you are very close to him. Don't let politics, religious dogma, polluting companies interfere with your mission of bringing the love of God to the world.

A person can only change themselves, to be an example for others. Everybody has doubts, that's called being human. Be true to yourself and your conscience and don't expect perfection.

Brother you have been an inspiration to me. When we hear the Holy Spirit and obey and put His message out into the world, the message is ultimately His. We may want to be planting seeds, but perhaps it's intention is watering a seed already sown. Perhaps while we want someone who has never heard the message to come to understanding and accepting our Lord, the message may be for a believer on the edge of losing their faith. Our society loves to create binary answers to things and they are really more complex than that. You ARE making a difference! You may never see the effect you want, but it doesn't mean your work is in vain. One man sows, another waters, yet another reaps. But all see the reward. The Lord loves you and is moving through you. Grace and peace to you.

I could relate to your reflection. I have gone through similar thoughts. From my childhood on I have been an activist and organizer participating in countless vigils, marches and education around various issues like death penalty, military spending, funding for human needs, gay equality, pro-life, nuclear disarmament. Of course, I want to make a difference and change things. But I reflected that when I pray before the Eucharist or go to mass, am I trying to change things? Me? I now look at my participation in social change as part of my worship. I want to change things for the better, but I am loving God and my neighbor whether or not anything changes by my presence.
