DBG: Early Time Capsule Jack Roush NASCAR Engine, Sitting With Bob Glidden's 69 Mustang Convertible

- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- Video starts out with a quick intro, and then off to Mike Weaks, to see what he has going on, and get some Q16. Mike has a cool 93 Thunderbird, he is building, and also a quick peak at his 1971 Ford Maverick.
Then off to Michigan to pick up a "Roush Pro Stock engine" that was the add. Looking at it, may be more NASCAR related. It is based on an Dry Sump XE Cleveland, with roller cam, and valve train, It has A3 heads, and Roush style intake. The heads are set up with Moroso stud girdles. The block is from 1982, as are the heads, and crank has 1978 stamped on it. The engine has been sitting for well over 20 years, maybe even almost 40. It was stored in a climate controlled garage.
Also you will see Bob Glidden's 69 Ford Mustang Convertible, that he raced in super stock. Again this car has sat since 1980s. The car is powered by a 632ci, big block Ford. No specs on it. In the car, you will see the roll cage was done by Tom Smith, of Wolverine Chassis back in the day. The interior has the area in the dash, where Bob had kept hitting his hand shifting. You can see the area Bob modified
I will get engine on a stand, and inspect much closer, be nice to put an intake, and oil pump on and dyno test.
Thanks for helping me reach 20k subscribers!
DraqgBoss Garage, "where your always seeing and learning something new."
Great find Tim !!!!!
Thanks so much. Can’t wait.
Joe has owned that car for a long time. He does drive it on the street. Ive known Joe for a long time.
Yes he said since the 80s. Appreciate it. Keep his last name on the down low please.
Love your channel!! Love all the history you share.Keep up the amazing work ✌️
Working hard to things you don’t see on other channels. Thanks Phillip. 👍💯🏁
Gorgeous car that you are looking at there 8:40 awesome
It will make a difference the porting will.
I sent those old photos Tim. You should get them Friday. Darryl
Thanks Darryl, can’t wait. I saw your email, need to answer back. Thank you so much. Can’t wait to see them. Not sure about all the mags, but let’s see what I can do. Thank you My friend.
I, saw that Cleaveland you bought, on the Facebook 351c group.
Good deal stroker, seems like a good deal so far.
Each video gets better ! 😅
Glad you think so!
Very cool, Dude! But it's time to get after it on Momma's Mustang. "Tired of Racing" you say? Is that the same thing, as being "Too drunk to Fish"?
Dang Greg, not sure. I don’t like fishing and don’t drink. But yea don’t go racing in the summer to hot for me. Just got the 90 degree oil filter adapter.
Cool Vid 👌🏼🏁, to my understanding Tim some teams still had used the Cleveland base in Nascar & TA well into the mid-80s + . Either way it’s a Badass score 👌🏼🏁
Thanks Janks, something I have never seen before. Looks like some nice parts. And another XE block, makes 3. Appreciating you mate. 🇦🇺
@@DragBoss351Cleveland looks like a serious build, the “xe” is just icing on the cake👌🏼🏁, might even have a Hank the Crank steel crank😳🤷🏻♂️….. be interesting for sure. DBG to the front😎🏁
Janks I’m pretty sure the Cleveland based combos were winning races until the early 90’s. At some point a rules change made the engine ineligible for competition. Maybe not but it’s ancient history now. NASCAR has removed all technical creativity from the sport and made it the most boring form of so called competition ever.
Tim definitely scored a significant piece of Ford Cleveland history 👍. Badass indeed 😉.
@@danielwilson6665 right on DW, pretty interesting so to speak. I just remember reading an older article about it all way back that they did especially the “xe” block or early oem 4bolt ….& remember by mid-80s ford eventually came out with aftermarket tuff blocks on offer (Windsor based I’m sure) eg: ford Motorsport/SVO & that’s when the Cleveland reign begun to be forgotten………BUT not for DBG it didn’t😎🏁it just keeps living on my friend👍🏼🏁
@69JANKS like a surprise box, have to see what we got. 😉
Beautiful set of cars, I wish I could have kept my 1997 T-Bird, but the 1988 rust free Mercury Cougar XR 7 I have will have to do. Got the fuel injection working and it runs but it has a great big vacuum leak I have to fix now.
Thanks John. The Cougar will be a great car to start with. My favorite is the 86 T bird.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland thanks for chiming in and I will be on the lookout for something that fits the bill. Worried about my neighbor's wife in hospital and they have no clue what is wrong with her. Blood pressure up and down like crazy and might have pneumonia only in one lung? I'm clueless until I hear from her husband later.
@johnelliott7375 nothing for you to do. But keep the faith. God will take care of her. 🙏
OMG!!!!!!! Awesome cars, you know I want the Maverick Tim!!!!!!! What an awesome video! Thank you!! DBG for the win.
I agree love those two cars. Maverick is killer, never seen it up close. And like 40k miles. Wow.
That's a really nice looking Ole school mustang, Joe needs to get that out on the road and blow them cobb webs off 😮 cool history of car though
I’m not a conv guy, but that car was cool for sure. Lots of webs… I know needs to see the sun
Ya I'm not conv. guy either but I'd be changing my mind I bet after cruising around in that!!
@chadcarpenter4078 well I would at least have to try it out for a bit too.
Love this channel. The cars, the info. And the host is not too bad either. lol
The host talks a lot, buts lives cars and engines so we let it go. 😉💯👍
What is the fifth digit in the VIN ? Thanks 😊
For the mustang, ? I never checked.
i gotta say i just love that maverick..that does it for me...just love mavericks
A man of taste!
Me too that would be a great driver, the black paint is killer perfect.
That's cool stuff Tim 🇺🇸👍
Thanks Bart love it too
That looks modern?
What’s modern? This is from 83
A built Cleveland sounds so nasty!. That’s an awesome introduction , with your Cougar jumping down the driveway. 🤩
Thanks so much. And to know it runs 9.30s is icing on the cake
About a third of a chance they are Oliver rods , and 358 cubes ,,, !
I know, back then, there as no scat or eagle. Only high quality manufacturing. Noticed has a roller pilot bushing so you know for a stick car.
Wow.....
Wowx2. Thanks
I’m speechless 🤷♂️. Believe it or not 😉
First time for everything. Carry on
Ripley should make space for this one, Daniel! 😮
YOU GUYS ! 😂
Congratulations to you and your Twenty K subscription holders. I love it that we could do the little bit that we could to get you going and the enjoyment we got from the videos are priceless. Thanks again for everything you do Tim! Thanks for sharing and pray my neighbor Sherry is in the hospital and she was the team of Harley Davidson racers with her husband that lives up around the corner.
Thanks so much, for the help and support. Doing what I can to record racing history and my own little family story. Prayers for Sherry 🙏🏁
Thanks so much for sharing your adventures
What a treat. I forgot to mention I come from a Ford Family so always look forward to your show. Drag on Boss !!!
You’re most welcome my friend. Love discovering things no one has seen or not in a long time. Adventure for me. Dragging on Boss 🏁💯🇺🇸
Love the rides at Mike Weeks shop. B.G's old S/S '69 Mustang convertible at Joe's ain't so bad either! The newly acquired Roush CLeveland should be a time capsule of fun and intrigue. More automotive history from the DragBoss. "Always seeing and learning something new!"
Man Bill you got that right. Not a conv guy but it was wicked cool for sure. I love that saying.
Always seeing and learning something new at DragBoss Garage baby. This am, service trans, while under there. No rain now, but rained past couple of days. See how it goes for track night. Bossettes, want to skip school, and work in DBG, and learn about life. Great idea…
Car time and Family time in The Garage or at the track...You got it goin' on, Brother. No better times! ❤
@billfioretti3013 I am very blessed, so I have to say thank you to my family. ❤️Race night was awesome….
@@DragBoss351Cleveland Can't wait to hear...and see!
@billfioretti3013 me either, will be a motor working, Mustang building, family fun summer. Thanks brother Bill
Going to be exciting testing!
It will be fun motor to take down, clean, rering, bearings and send it. I just so happen to have street and dyno headers that fit.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland Great. Very interesting. You might see some things that look normal but find out they are not. Lol
@dondotterer24 that is a fact, surprise.
The history of the parts and the cars you have on your channel is a real treat.
Thanks John, stuff you don’t see every day
Great video DragBoss, congratulations on the 20K, keep it up!
My Hot Rod is the brother to the Black Maverick in your video. Mine is a 1971 Maverick Grabber (Grabber Blue), factory 302 w/AC and P/S, 3 speed manual floor shift (factory). (I've got the Marti Report for it also). Factory high back bucket seats, black interior. I've had it since 1985, original engine had thrown a rod when I got it. Now has a 0.030" over 302 w/mild cam, Edelbrock intake, Holley 4v carb, MSD ignition, Hedman headers (long tube). 2.5" dual exhaust w/turbo's. The 3 speed has been replaced with a W/C T5-5 speed. 8" rear axle with 3.25 gears w/ratcheting locker. Racing fuel cell in trunk, battery also in trunk.
That factory black Maverick is a rare bird, super cool!
(P/S - I put a 351C -4V in a 1970 Maverick back in the early 80s - - -Yikes!)
thanks again
AB, appreciate the congrats. 😊thanks for sharing your story and cars. Love the dam Maverick’s. I want one and a 78 Fairmont, and …. Yes love cars like crazy, yours sounds like a killer driver too. You got all the right parts. I can only imagine headers must have sucked. Thanks again
@@DragBoss351Cleveland If your referring to headers on the 351C in a 1970 Maverick, I did not use headers, (too expensive)
I used the factory manifolds. It was an insanely tight fit!
The headers on My 1971-302 powered maverick from Hedman fit very nice with minimal dimpling. (also very tight fit)
Thanks
@abcullens2328 ye AB, that is what I was talking about. Factory manifold tight fit, yikes. Those cars can benefit greatly from cutting back shock towers.
Always great!
Thanks Laut, always something new.
Great story!
Just more interesting stuff. Hope they race tonight.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland I hope you get more than 1 run with all the bracket cars there for tomorrow. I will be watching, hopping for you on the webb.
@michaelclanton1152 thanks Michael. Appreciate you taking the time to drive out to see me race. Great conversation. Love your Road Runner, injection is nice but you’d rather be blown 🤣Roots Blower💯🏁
@@DragBoss351Cleveland I tried to not be intrusive after all you don't know me and you need to be in the moment on racing your car, family.was that the camera coming off your car in the last run at 1/2 track?
@michaelclanton1152 thanks Michael for showing up and supporting myself and DragBoss Garage. You were not intrusive in any way. Yes that was the camera that fell out from the holder, lol. Oh well. Hope it flew off the track.
i wish there were bob glidden interviews it would be awesome to hear his stories

Bob Glidden's Mustang....speechless 😁. The history and to see it in pristine condition, brings goosebumps to me.
Nash, did that to me when I sat in it. Could feel the history. And to just sit and collect dust.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland I bet! Hey I noticed the track you race at, Norwalk?
@nashvillelewis-jones5666 yes sir. 20 minutes from home.
@@DragBoss351Cleveland Small world, I ran at Norwalk and Quaker In Salem. I was 10 minutes from Quaker. Moved to TN in 2018.
@@nashvillelewis-jones5666 cool you recognized it. Hope your still racing my friend
