Does this work if I don’t have existing settings? I just downloaded fallout 76 and can’t get it out of the corner, but also can’t change any settings in GE because it can’t retrieve settings.

update: sadly Battlefield 2042 and hell let loose were taken off the list when I did this. Hopefully Nvidia will fix this. Its super annoying and an issue that's been going on for awhile
@@UpperAquatics Yes I have been searching around for a new/updated folder but sadly I am not able to find one at the moment. If they do fix it, I will try to make my own and replace it for this video just incase Nvidia does it again. Hopefully the main games you do play are being optimized.
@@Rescultir Update: I found out how to fix it!! All you need is the Application Ontology folder from someone who has the most recent version of GeForce Experience and isn't experiencing the bug. I asked my buddy if I could have some of the files and it worked when I re did the steps in your video. I really hope this helps! Thank you so much!!

To provide more information, this happened to me after I started using my pc without a graphics card, previously I had an RTX 3060, I was playing for a while without it until now that I bought an RTX 3070, after this I checked my list of optimizations (GeForce ) and everything was listed as "Unable To Retrieve Settings. Try Again Later." I don't know what could have happened, but at least it's fixed now. Thanks again
Before doing this I had only one game that was unable to retrieve current settings now my whole library has the same issues please don't do this if you only have one or two games that has this problem.
Agreed. I would do a fresh install of GeForce because I found that in time it would fix itself but it takes like 3 or 4 updates to do it which is a pain.
Followed this guide exactly, once I was done I tried it out and it didn't work. I even lost the ability to use Battery Boost setting in GeForce. I restarted the computer and boom! It works. Been using the last couple days without issue.

Thank christ this worked. I've literally been at this for an hour straight lmao. Everything was telling me to do weird stuff like "remove the scanning directories and then scan again and it'll fix itself" and to disable my antivirus and then run it as admin and that would somehow do something Shit one person told me to empty my entire temp folder
I know, I've also watched all those videos. I Never did anything they recommended because I knew it was dumb, most of the stuff they talk about don't have anything to do with GeForce or Nvidia. Once I found the solution I decided to make my own video. If videos tell you to change certain settings on your PC, don't do it. Most of the time, the people that recommened that have no idea what they're doing or talking about.
