He's just authentic and I can't believe how much similarity I see with his approach to some things and mine. I think it appeals to a lot of people to see any form of authenticity on social media nowadays, when everything is fake.

I get that. But I hope it shines a light on how it is to live that way and that people turn their life around after seeing it reflected through his disgusting life. I lived that way when I moved into my first apartment. So I do get it. That was also 20 years ago. And I grew up over a few years and learned how to not live like a gross troll. It's actually really weird that Asmon doesn't grow or try to grow beyond where he's at, especially when he has the resources to do so. I still like the dude and I do think he's "real", which is laudable, but he's not healthy or smart or living well or making responsible choices or acting like an adult or being a good role model or etc... like, he's stuck in a child's mentality, and other people using him as some standard of being "okay" to justify their own lifestyle is not a good thing at all.
If you really do see similarities between you and him, then I highly recommend using that as a litmus test to know where you have issues and should improve... because basically everything he does is bad and wrong,

I very much and sincerely doubt he's happy. The man won't live past 50, I've been watching him since 2013, does he enjoy what he does? In a way, but is he happy deep down? Definitely not, I'd stake my life on him being chronically depressed inside at the very least given his extremely poor way of living, personal hygiene, panic and anxiety attacks and more. Just the fact alone that he chooses to live in a dirty collapsing house despite being a multi-millionaire company owner, with asbestos in the walls and blood marks across his bedroom wall from when he used to pick his decaying teeth that would bleed and wipe them across the wall is enough of an indicator that there are deep psychological issues inside there...

For the "what side do you make/eat with steak" question, I always have pretty much the same answer. I caramelize some onions and diced radishes with a bell pepper. It blew my mind a few years ago when I found out just how delicious fried radishes are. They get so sweet and savory and that kind of "spiciness" that radishes have totally goes away, same as it does with an onion. So great over a ribeye. Also, if you've not seen, Asmongold actually reacted to a video by a guy by the name of Beergr who did a really fantastic response suggesting ways to make even more delicious steaks that would fit Asmongold's... interesting palate.

As someone who grew up with a parent who's a chef as well, this was both hilarious and painful to watch, but the level headedness that you approached the video was a pleasure to watch. As a kid of a single mother who was working full time, Ive learned how to cook fairly early on. While from a more (hobby_)skilled point of view what Asmon is doing isn't exactly high cuisine, it does the job and is a good starting point to do something simple that's tasting solid - and certainly still better than convenience food. Can't fault the guy. And if it motivates just one of his viewers to get started cooking for himself, then that's worth it.

I like my home to be comfy and don't care about stuff being expensive. Same with food. If they brought me the ingredients and the recipe I would do my best to cook it for them in my little apartment kitchen as long as they brought enough to feed me too. One of my friends was Navajo/Quechua so I learned to cook some very interesting dishes.

Basically he wanna eat something he still likes , but without leaving his gaming and streaming cave for long . Whenever he eats anything "fancier" , it's from take outs and fastfood orders .
Oh and if you want an odd plumbing story , instead of Scorpions clogging , imagine finding once coral reef snakes !! It was bsiacally because our city was originally a saltwater swamps , which they drained centuries ago , to built it . So our sewage systems are still just above sea water , with some of the sea occasionally rising and going underneath

My understanding is that Asmon's household was never on the wealthy side. His mother had health problems (she passed in 2021).
He probably developed a miserly mentality and no amount of income will sway him into what he considers "wasteful" spending.
