- The Ghost and Mrs Muir 1947, a story of a young widow finds her seaside cottage is haunted and forms a unique relationship with the ghost.
Storyline:
In 1900, strong-willed widow Lucy Muir (Gene Tierney) goes to live in Gull Cottage by the British seaside, even though it appears to be haunted. Sure enough, that very night she meets the ghost of crusty former owner Captain Daniel Gregg (Sir Rex Harrison), and refuses to be scared off. Indeed, they become friends and allies, after Lucy gets used to the idea of a man's ghost haunting her bedroom. But when a charming live man comes courting, Lucy and the Captain must deal with their feelings for each other. Written by Rod Crawford

Gene Tierney, what form, what an absolute beauty.
absolutely gorgeous..the camera loved her like no other actress. Her slight overbite is...incredibly cute.

Thanks for uploading! One of my favourite romance films.
One of the greatest films ever made. His entrance is absolutely spectacular … the lighting is so flawlessly done that he truly looks as if he’s an actual piece of the shadows, separating himself from the darkness.
One of the greatest films ever made???? balderdash and poppycock.... The tv series was better...... just.
@@blairmacewancrosbie8646 That's subjective. Both are great, but they aimed to do different things. This movie had a more serious/sad tone, while the tv series was a more lighthearted sitcom.
@@ClassicFrank Everything is subjective Frank and it doesn't change the fact that ghosts, being immaterial , cannot cast shadows...Still, for the film's purposes i suppose a bit of artistic licence is ok....
@@blairmacewancrosbie8646 Who says a ghost can't cast shadows? His shadow was used in a very creative way. Earlier you mentioned the tv show was better when you replied to someone else preferring the movie so I was just pointing out that it's subjective.
@@ClassicFrank Science says so Frank ...And as ghosts don't exist arguing about shadows is quite futile.
Correspondence closed.
Cheers.
I love Rex Harrison they don't make men like him anymore very rare .. 🤩
This is a great movie and I watched it all the time as a kid. It was on the other day and I taped it off...must have a gander at this again...not seen it in years.
Classic always Best .
I grew up watching Dr Doolittle with Harrison
After seeing this though I never knew how sinfully handsome he was
Beautiful couple
Every time I watch a Gene Tierney movie I can’t help but think how she was almost Mrs. John F Kennedy
If I were to make a top 10 favorite movie list this would be in there.
One of my all-time favorites!
just saying he is a rather good looking man
Every Women Needs a Captain Gregg!!
Harrison was never knighted because of his many romantic, uh, attachments--his nickname in the tabloids was "Sexy Rexy", if that gives you an idea.

My favourite film ever❤️
Gene Tierney speaking with the mid-Atlantic accent.
Hello.. old friend
Delizioso semplicemente delizioso
Error 101 - Ghosts do not cast shadows....
Why would a ghost cast a shadow?

This may be the only time I've ever given a UA-cam comment a down arrow...
