This movie has a sad, wistful quality. Her mention of loneliness just as she did when talking about his aunt who raised him. And the sound of the foghorn and the deteriorating post with Anna’s name carved on to illustrate the passing of time. Well done movie all around
They don’t even need to make a big explicit love confession. Her tentative question “what’s to become of us, of you and me?” confirms her feelings. He is initially vague in his response, avoiding any mention of their relationship and encouraging her to find someone else. But once she is out of earshot after he says goodnight, he adds “my dear” in the most tender, heartfelt whisper, leaving no doubt in the audience’s minds that he loves her back. Amazing writing.
How beautifully written. This is one of my favourite films - so achingly romantic. The idea of two characters who can’t even touch, we aren’t even in the same metaphysical state, so close and so far away. Loving each other quietly and never truly admitting it but both knowing how the other feels. Just waiting for the timing to be right. In the end.
A wonderful movie. I've never figured out why EVERYONE doesn't know it. Also, the musical score is one of the most beautiful ever. Besides being gorgeous, it helps set the mood and atmosphere for every scene.
This is a sweet movie despite it being about a ghost and him being gruff. It is a sweet movie and it is one film that brings me to tears every time I watch it.
She was not only Beautiful. But also a great actress

His gruffness is really more of a facade than a trait. She brings out his true, tender self. He becomes more and more gentle as the film goes on.
Love this film...
