Playing this for UIL in our band right now. Such a good piece. Played at pre-UIL concert and audience went crazy. Brian Balmages is such a great composer for music!!!
All the flutes at my school LOVE this song. It's one of the ones we'll play randomly at any time and will endlessly go on and on about it's greatness when it's brought up.
I played this in Honor's Band and my band director picked this song for Festival, so I get to play it again! I'm happy the clarinets get recognized, it doesn't happen very often!
I'm playing this right now in honor band and concert band! :D Also, for those of you saying how this is an incredibly easy piece, it's easy to play, but it's more difficult to get the correct style and dynamics. The notes are barely half of it.
Our county band played this piece for this year's festival, and it was beautiful. The bass clarinet part is one of my most favored to listen to and to play. It is not necessarily the most complex by any means, but it adds some amazing bass, especially on the momentous sections.
when I played this song in 7th grade, I instantly fell in love with it. there's so much energy and so much shifting In this song and as a clarinet player, I can't get enough of everyone's parts! now as a sophomore I STILL listen to it. I simply love this piece!
Played this piece in 8th grade All State and currently playing it again in band this year, my Sophomore year. My first time playing, I was second flute, and now I'm first, it's exciting!
What's the difference between an Onion and an Oboe? You don't cry when you cut up an Oboe! Why can't Trombones go to a playground? They don't know how to use the slides. Why was the clarinetist arrested? He was in Treble. (These are all just jokes, don't get offended.)
Listening to a playlist of balmages while doing schoolwork, recognized this immediately and realised I played it in 7th grade with my 7/8th grade band. Such a fun song to play in percussion. I played woodblock, tambourine and crash.
I played this song at contest last year. I am first chair trumpet in the band I'm in. I loved this song. I want to do this song again for the spring concert this year. We got a 1 on it.
Such a great song, only I wish the percussion was louder in this version. Our director makes us hit the drum heads to the point where they almost break at measure 86, 89, and 92.
My band is playing this. I was told it would be difficult for my section, seeing as how it is "designed for 7 percussionists" (my band director's words) and we only have 4. However, I find this piece to be quite enjoyable, to listen to and to play.
I played this at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp last summer. I'll never forget this song or the time I spent there. It was my favorite of the pieces I played there. I was first clarinet, 3rd chair. The clarinets did well in this piece.
i play first chair bassoon at my high school ( lol i know that isnt saying much since there arent alot of bassoons out there) but this is the song that got me into first chair and into the top band!
I played this song my 7th grade year for contest and i absolutely love it! The first time i heard the cannon it scared me it was so loud cx. I love how it goes from slow and mysterious to really fast and epic. This is one of my all time favorite pieces of music. I get goosebumps everytime i listen to it XD i love Brian Balmages
No matter how much, america, or russian has in differences, people should always remember through out the land, the day when 2 different world's put aside there differences, to stop a great evil from destroying it all.
@Wizard Wolves the allies including America and Soviet Union had to defeat the axis in WW2. America is capitalist and The Soviet Union was communist so big difference in the 2 superpowers
Playing this song and two others for competition . Amazing piece, I'd say. I play Bari Sax on this piece and every time we practice this, I get hyped to play it !
were playing this now . we were go to play The Mealstorm by Robert W.Smith but they couldn't do it, but i could but probably not the speed . and, yes we are 7th and 8th graders and were going to play it for spring concert . were playing Spania , Moscow, 1941, and Rite of Ascenion , and Acient Moon. by !
This is so cool. I'm in symphonic band in my school and we are playing this song! I hope we can this good (or close) when we perform oh and I play flute by the way :)
This song makes me so proud of the fact that I played the clarinet it 8th grade cause there were like 4 parts where clarinets were the only ones playing
aahh... i can hear the tenors and bass instruments rocking their parts... puts tears in my eyes when i think that next year i wont be able to be in band class unless i join the symphony...
it is all about balance and blend, about every instrument in the band coming together to sound like one, they all must be balanced with eachother, not one standing out more than others
This piece belongs to 3 players in the band and 3 players only. The first chair clarinet, first chair trumpet, and first chair trombone. I was the first clarinet and one day I didn't have my clarinet with me because it was in the shop. The whole piece sounded odd because quite frankly the rest of the clarinets sucked. Later my friend came to me and said that the the clarinet parts sounded like shit without me.
@CallowayLakers813 Sweet! Congrats! ;) I got first chair in All-Region Band and Orchestra, but I'm only in 8th grade.... We can't get into District/Area until high school.... :(
Playing this for UIL in our band right now. Such a good piece. Played at pre-UIL concert and audience went crazy. Brian Balmages is such a great composer for music!!!

Amazing & powerful piece, I'm glad I got the chance to play this last year in Honors band, my section did awesome. Go clarinets !
All the flutes at my school LOVE this song. It's one of the ones we'll play randomly at any time and will endlessly go on and on about it's greatness when it's brought up.
finally clarinets get the melody
Jeffrey Gajda but they almost always get the melody....
@@hambandit1 no trumpet usually gets it

Whenever I get mad I blast this song as loud as I can with my clarinet

+Geo Osorio as a trumpet? Meaning... you are physically a trumpet? :o
Our county band played this piece for this year's festival, and it was beautiful. The bass clarinet part is one of my most favored to listen to and to play. It is not necessarily the most complex by any means, but it adds some amazing bass, especially on the momentous sections.
I played baritone on this wonderful piece in middle school, brings back memories😢 any other baritones?
yes baritones for the win! :3
Jonathan Gonzalez your part in this song is sooo beautiful
Only in Jazz band, but I play alto and tenor as well. I even named them!
Alberto, Tanner and Berry!
What makes the music really fitting is that "Moscow 1941" is a militaristic version of the Soviet marching song, "Polyushkay Pole".
when I played this song in 7th grade, I instantly fell in love with it. there's so much energy and so much shifting In this song and as a clarinet player, I can't get enough of everyone's parts! now as a sophomore I STILL listen to it. I simply love this piece!

some guy, at least you didn’t joke about saxophones, I mean there’s nothing to joke about them because they’re the coolest instruments. 😏

Played this back in 8th grade which was the first year I picked up the Baritone Sax. It was such a great song my whole band loved it.

in middle school, and this piece is really awesome. I AM A FRENCH HORN AND WE FINALLY GET AN EPIC PART (we come in at 2:20)
Same with the tenor saxophones.

French horns usually get sucky parts! I can actually hear the horn in this video!!! We horns don't get enough love!
I can totally see myself defending Moscow from the Nazis while listening to this.

Gotta move dat slide for the trombones.
Gotta push those keys for the sax.
gotta press those valves for the french horn.
Gotta hold that note for Bass Clarinets
D_AtomixMC gotta play superiorly or trumpets
Gotta not sound like a dying duck for the Mellophones.
I got to meet Brian Balmages! What an amazing musician &person.

I have to play this song in May, hopefully first trumpet. Love this piece.
Playing this song on saxophone for competition. Gives me goosebumps every time at the first cymbal crash.
We're playin this at HCHS in New Orleans! I play the clarinet part:)! Just beautiful:)
it is all about balance and blend, about every instrument in the band coming together to sound like one, they all must be balanced with eachother, not one standing out more than others
Once I wasn't really paying attention in band and then the bass drum was hit in part of the song. My heart jumped and I was really scared.
I loved playing the snare drum on this song.
I play Tenor Sax. I'm so hyped to play this at my spring concert!
Flutes in the house😎 I love that flute solo at measure 64😍 BTW I'm playing it for UIL

I played this in 7th grade about 3 years ago on Euphonium and I still love piece.

I play wind chimes, tamborine, Crash and suspended cymbal for this song but ALTO SAXES WHERE YOU @ (for everything else?)
