Played as trumpet during this song. I felt so powerful with that part
Truly an epic song
Same I’m playing it and learning it
Sameeeee I was playing saxophone lol
I played on tuba and it made me really realize just how important the bass line is
@@excaliburgaming4328 it is important! :)
@Nalydbear how do you manage
This is maybe one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I am a percussionist and the bells and chimes are wonderful
Just played it last night in a concert and I played chimes
The clarinet solo at the beginning is what broke me I play clarinet and saxophone used to play violin this is one of my favorite pieces and we're playing it in my concert band in school it's gorgeous
I play the timpani and I love this song
I play the chimes part (we have a lot of people so we put everyone on a different instrument for the one part) and it’s so fun on the real
Saaaammmeeee
Proud to be a trombone player for this piece
Hell yeah, I was a trombone when i did the piece myself a few years back it was awesome
Proud to be a timpani player for this piece
Fr brother
Same brother!
I absolutely love the bass drum part on this piece
We are playing this in band and god is this a GREAT song it really gives u chills when listening and playing
I know what school you go to, alto sax is better and we have melody together, and please stop making me deaf, I like hearing.
What ever
I’m quitting band, therefore I’m resigning as a percussionist. This song was by far my favorite piece and quite emotional
No Don't Do It!
Never too late to come back
I’ve literally been listening to this song for atleast 15 years. It will never get old!
Gotta love middle school band. I’m grateful I went to a middle school that had a spectacular music department.
And yes the high note at measure 18 beat 1. Sight reading that hurt my ears and when it was for concert not great also.
I am lucky as well as my broke district has the best music dept. In the western half of my state. Just our marching band alone has over 385 first place trophies in only 33.5 years
Was supposed to play this my senior year of high school but that was right when the pandemic started. I will never forget the moments I had practicing this piece. Still know how to play it. And it was such a fun tenor sax part.
I played tenor sax on this piece! Agreed, I absolutely loved it
Ayyyyy i know that wallpaper
i’m a tenor sax as well! ^^ we’re learning it rn, and i’m having a little trouble with it 😅
@@ghostdude8855 cool, I play Alto I think it's a fun piece and I'm almost done learning it for MPA
@@Matthias863hello ^^
Being a Baritone doing bass but hearing those trumpets is so powerful and so good
I remember playing this in 7th grade as a trombone. I'm now in 9th grade in Marching band. This song was so good, I wish to go back to it, it's so nostalgic whenever I hear this.
I am 1st chair trumpet, and I think that low brass completes this song! The harmony is beautiful
@@razor1865 were you at orange county all county??
@@shivenrao.147 no
Well I play trumpet just suggested this song to my band teacher because it sounds so good especially the bass part❤
As a trumpet player,
I’m so in love with the low brass in this piece
Same
I'm actually changing my instrument bc of the low brass part in this song. I play flute currently and I absolutely hate my section so I wanna play baritone now all bc of the low brass parts in this😊
@@maddiegary4212 i play baritone and we are going to play this for our spring concert in about a month or so lol
@@YaBoii-in6tm so are we. We're playing it at our contest too
I played this 8th grade year. They didn’t have enough percussionist so they pulled me out of the trombone section and made me bass drum where I got to do cannon shot
Doing the cannon shot will forever be my favorite part of this piece
When I did the canon shot back in Middle School all-district band, the director literally told us to hit as hard as we could without breaking the drum! 😂 This was such a fun piece to play.
Forgot how much I missed playing this song
We played it for our spring concert and it was my favorite lolol
Bro… I am an honored Timpani player 😭 I absolutely loved playing this song last year bro it made me feel like, idk as if I was in a movie tbh.
I'm a clarinet player and we have been reading the music for a week. I really love the beginning.
Hands down all time favorite band song
Same
I played bells and chimes in this song at an event in 2019 where band students from all over the county would come to the high school right next to where I had middle school at the time.
Playing such awesome music in a room with ~150 other amazing students was one of the most fun things I’ve done in my life. I have so many emotions attached to this piece and I was beyond devastated when the event was cancelled for 2020 and 2021.
I genuinely cry every time I listen to this
My Band Teacher just ordered this and I think along with the Kyiv, 2022 piece (releases soon) and I hope we play one of them cause I’d love to for the Final Concert and for me leaving band next year cause it’s just boring at my school
Bro I got the new song today. I’m so happy to play this for our final concert
Get your band teacher to guarantee this piece at your final concert band performance. This piece is amazing.
we played Moscow for our UIL contest and we just got Kyiv 2022 for our spring concert
I am too lol
I’ve played both
We were going to play this song in 8th grade but COVID hit 😔
Our band was gonna play it (seven and eighth grade Advanced Band) But it was too hard for some people. Me and some other band members still play it in our free time though. I'm a trombone player.
@@kadendesrosiers900 if you want a hard song to play try Arabesque, I've been play saxophone since 6th grade and I'm a senior. I can still hardly play it
I was gonna play it for UIL this year but it got called off due to war stuff
@@kadendesrosiers900 thinks songs way too easy to be honest it’s cake for me and I’m also a trombone player. But I’m more of a marching band kid because that’s what my bands made of. But it’s a shame you guys didn’t get to play it. I’m here because I’m going to play this wonderful piece in March and I’m listening to it and comparing it to our band.
I think*
I was a French Horn player in middle school when I played this. Every time we performed this song a literal movie played in my head, and to this day I see the same thing every time I listen to it. Truly an amazing piece this song is.
Gonna play this for my fall concert in October for 8th grade!! I play 1st clarinet!!
*Edit: It went horrible the snares went way to fast and messed us up 😭*
Damn I’m sorry💀 I’m in 8th grade and I’m 1st flute for this, playing it this week. Wish us luck!:)
@@outoftunepianist how did it go??
@@ghostdude8855 it went pretty well, thanks for asking! it sounded so good, it was probably my best concert yet😊
@@outoftunepianist ooh, i’m glad! ^^
@@outoftunepianist we might play this for our spring concert, so ^^
I like how at 2:48 it goes from menacing and dramatic to elevator music
My band director describes it as kids playing in a flower field only to be bombed 10 seconds later :) really enhances the vibes
@@vanessamacias5691 That's... dark.
@@theopneustos-eureka war is dark
LMAO
@@vanessamacias5691 I love this😂
Playing clarinet 1 for this music sheet for tomorrow's concert
My class is playing this in band and its so fun!!!

I played this piece in high school and in junior high and I feel blessed to be a trombone for this song
good
trombone rules!! i was the only trombone player in my band 😅
Love this song, my son plays Tuba, and I heard yesterday when he was performing for his school
Genuinely the best song I’ve ever heard, I just wish our band directors would let us play it
proud to be a clarinetist especially with this piece i love this so much i can’t even explain
just heard this song from my band director for not too long and i'm already addicted to this, both playing and listening to!
Played Tom Toms in this and was just amazed at how good it was, the fast bells and chimes at that one part were insane. Tom toms felt amazing to play for this one too. Awesome.
Love this music and when I played it, it sounded amazing also proud to be the pianist for this piece
Proud to be playing this piece for My Spring Competition!!! The Trombone 1 Part is SICK!!!
Bro do you go to ehms
We played this when i was in 7th grade at a national competition in Indianapolis circa 2009. I played the alto sax. Holy shit this opened the memory floodgates!
I’m surprised to not see any comments about the song this is based on! It’s a Soviet song called “oh fields, my fields” and it’s absolutely beautiful! Wish my band would have played it when I was in school!
I playing trumpet 1 for 14th of july's concert. I love this music
I finally remembered where I heard this tune before, its in a song called polyushka polye
Played This As A 2nd Trumpet For UIL About A Month Ago And This Is One Of My Favorite Music Pieces Ever
Got to play this song in my high school band. Too bad the pandemic came and shut everything down before we could master it. Truly a very cool song.
Same happened to us 😢
By far my most favorite song that I played in high-school. It remains to be one of the few songs that transports me to that time and place no matter how many times I hear it. It never fails to give me chills in the later third as the "bombs" are falling.
we played this for my high school band concert in march and it was so good, I'm going to see if my teacher will let us play kyiv 2022 next year for our concert
Played 1st clarinet on this song in 7th grade. Reasons why I quit clarinet in 8th grade🥲🥲🥲
We are playing this piece right now ❤❤ I’m an Ephonium/Baritone I absolutely love my part as first chair in the Levelland high school band ❤
Bass line: 😅
Scary sounds: 😨
2nd lead: 😡
Main lead: 🔥😤🔥
Bass: 💣🤯💥🔥
I am in 7th grade band and we are playing this piece for a UIL competition and I absolutely am in love with piece!! And i am first clarinet so i am also freaking out!!
As a tuba player my band teacher is always telling me to play out, which is always easy and fun with this song
Favorite piece by far. Followed by Black Forest Overture and Gently Touch the sky, this song is just the greatest. It has a audible plot. Lovely harmony. I just love it.
Same here. The song has a plot that you can hear and imagine. Based off the title and the dynamic changes you can hear as it happens. In fact after hearing this song I searched it up and studied the battle of Moscow and it was really something. The song covers what happened. The Beginning is the Germans and the Russians preparing for the fight and it shows the foreshadow of the hell approaching after. Then the moment of waiting, waiting for the attack. The knowing off the loss to come. And the fear of losing but knowing. Then the start. The fight begins and it starts to rage. As the dynamic increases so does the fighting. And then the next part the fighting continues. And then it gets worst. The loss is known and the fighting gets Harder for both sides. Then the loss gets greater. Then the panic. The Germans are pushing harder and harder and it seems that it's going to be a loss. And the panic and fear gains control. And the Germans start winning. The Russians losing. But then the turning. The Russians push back. They push and push and get them out.
@@generalhilt4531 bro replied to his own comment
@@robbie356 It felt right. Agree with the reply?
@@generalhilt4531 yeah i guess. i did black forest. it was really fun and i have my music memorized for it ( i did it in like march)
@@robbie356 I love being able to memorize music. It's nice to be able to play different songs without needing the sheets for them.
As a clarinet player, I am actually happy that we actually get to do something important. Usually, us clarinets are just "background music" or whatnot. It's awful.
I was granted with the power to be bass drum for this song and I loved the massive hit in measure 85 😎
I played this for my honor band concert as euphonium
I got to play Bb clarinet during this song and I loved going from p to f it was so amazingly cool
This song is so nice we are playing this for our concert soon
I love this! Great recording. Although I have to admit it’s a lot more thrilling and powerful in person.
I played this not too long ago for a low level band and as a proud bass clarinet/clarinet player, this piece is amazing!! The low part is so powerful
Was just about to comment that I played bass clarinet in school as well. Rise up fellow bass clarinets!
This is an old piece that the high schoolers played a few years ago and I’m in 8th grade now. We were supposed to play it for our end of the year concert but aren’t. Sad but playing some other greats!
Played this my freshman year, percussion, I love hearing the ensemble and I can never get tired of this piece, favorite by far
I played the bombs also so 🫶🏼
Just got this song for our spring UIL check. This is by far my favorite song in band ever. I am a 7th grade clarinet player with 1 clarinet part for this song. I CANT GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD ITS TOO GOOD
I have it for UIL too lol
same
Currently playing this for my middle school concert, the first and second flute parts clash. It’s… Breathtaking..!!
we played this song for UIL
Same
we’re playing this in my 8th grade band class, i play alto saxophone on it, it’s pretty cool.
Loved this song to death, beautiful piece, my ensemble was gonna play this for my last spring concert as a senior in 2022 but because of the war with Russia and Ukraine we couldn’t cause of high tensions 😢
I just played this in Illinois Honor band fest. It was an amazing piece. I played Euphonium.
Where are my French horns at?
Im playing this for UIL and this is FIRE
I'm a percussionist and I also played this for UIL. When we got our results, our band director told us that the judges really liked the bass drum part where I did the cannon shots. It was so fun
IM LATE BUT FRENCH HORNS RISE UP
Just started this in band recently
Me and a good friend of mine had to double up on the trombone parts because it ended up being only the two of us...I felt such pride being able to play a part in such a magnificent piece.
I played this in band about 5 years ago the next year I stopped playing in band this was one of my favorite songs to play
I played a trumbone btw
I am an oboist and I played this for band camp a years ago. it’s literally my favorite piece I’ve ever played!! 😁
The highschool band played this when I was in 7th grade. It’s been a struggle to try and convince my band director to let us play this, lol. Hopefully this year, before I graduate!
brian balmages is a freaking genius, we played this and his other piece rhythms and riffs. incredible modern day composer
My school seems to warship him. They only do songs by him (every 3/5 songs are his)

i remember going to my old high school, LHS, and playing this song. this was one of the most beautiful pieces ive ever played in my entire band experience. also, listen to kyiv 2022! even better than the original.

I played this in my eight grade band about 3 years ago, I was the first trumpet. Super fun :)
Omg- I’m in eight grade, and I’m going to play this🤗🤌💕✨
We were supposed to be playing this music with my orchestra, but the director cancelled it because of the Ukraine/Russia conflict
I am so sad, I wanted to play this piece so bad, as a first clarinetist, I play it all the time at home
I love how everyone loved playing this song. I played the clarinet part and it was reallllly fun. Moscow 1941 is still such an infamous song to my middle school band class years later, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it
I love playing the timpani on this
My middle school band played this a year before I got there in 2015 and have been obsessed with it ever since.
my cousin is playing this song for his 7th grade concert
Played bass drum my eighth grade year. Me being the shy, awkward being that I was, I didn't play the cannon shots right at first. Long story short, when I did play it right, the people in front of me would always jump at the sound. It's quite the fun piece.
My band is playing this and I thought it would be the 1979 version. There I was hyping up the fact I could sing along, and then we play this. Still a beautiful piece but the later version is better.
Same here
I absolutely love this song. I played it on flute for band. Then I switched to Alto sax snd I played this song and I felt to powerful.
This goes so hard Oml I love playing This in band😩
Not gonna lie, we did this one and as a trombone I was really happy with fun part we got to play! 10/10 would definitely recommend.
As a French horn this is my favorite concert song I’ve ever played
I remember playing this song about a year or two ago and it was so fun
Played this in 8th grade then again senior year. The recording sound very different.
Tenor Sax solo was a different experience
hi!! 7th grade symphonic band oboe player here! i played this song today for UIL. We did pretty good, a few slip ups but still ended up getting a division one rating!!
Loved practicing this song even though it could be a bit stressful sometimes!!
Is not 'Meadowlands' lads. It's Lev Knipper's 4th Symphony. Don't hesitate and give it a listen, it's absolutely epic.
I recognize this as the folk tune polushko-pole (полюшко-поле) .
I played this song my freshman year! Love it sm
were playing this in band for my competition so I'm listening to it!!
I played snare on this last year and it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve played by far
As a bass clarinet playing this song at allcity was nerv racking but so worth it (this was my first year btw)
This year I’m playing this for a comp (flute) and I hate 95- the end but I love it ❗️❗️
I'm also a flute player! I'm playing this piece this year for my band, and I have to agree with you 95 to the end it difficult but it's beautiful put together with the rest of the band!
played this one flute 1 my junior year of high school. if it weren't for covid I would chosen this piece to play for our graduation, that we didn't have.
