It wasn't the timing, Bloodlines just wasn't a true Supernatural show idea. The focus was more on creating a mob story with romance instead of using the SPN World properly. This could have been from The Flash or Batman, the only connection it has to Supernatural is that it used Supernatural as a launch vehicle and had some of it's stars but they were in the background really. And Wayward Sisters, well, that wasn't accepted because it's clear the purpose of that is to create a show with female leads instead of being a proper inclusive show. Identity politics is annoying and people don't want their favourite shows and films to be used to push an agenda. A spin-off with Jody could have been done with her hunting but without a focus on being female, it should be about what they do to protect the World! I would love a spin-off that explores more of the SPN Universe, but it has to use the lore from the main show, and not keep cast from the main show out. It needs to be actually based on the show, because if it's too different then it's not Supernatural. I did like the idea of the supernatural beings having groups and effectively being mobs that control territories as the real World criminal organisations and Wolf packs do, but not in this way. We don't want Romeo & Juliet, we want hunters and we want to see how the hunters interact with others.
I feel like timing was just one of the things that could have been easily fixed, like exploring more of the characters and the world that the pilot wanted to set up. I actually think that, had they chosen to use the backdoor pilot (or had an actual pilot) without Sam and Dean in it, they could have structured it to make it more appealing, really focusing on the mobster factions and dynamics in Chicago, which would have been far more interesting than the inception of a hunter with the help of a Shifter and Sam and Dean. But then people would question exactly how much this was a 'Supernatural' spin-off and not its own show. I agree with needing to keep to the lore of the main show and being open and inclusive with the cast from the original show. But, I don't think it should purely be about hunters and the way they interact. We've already seen that. If we were to have a spin-off of Supernatural at this point, the CW would have to have an innovative approach, otherwise it would feel like a rehash of its origin show, or their other attempts. Thank you for the comment! Hope you enjoyed the video!
A spin off with Bobby, Rufus, Jodi, and John, as they all started hunting would've been so cool. They could've integrated the kids some times but with the focus of them hunting. Just imagine how nice it would be to see how Bobby collected all his stuff or John's storage.
Just watched the backdoor pilot and i gotta say, its a damn shame they didnt realize that spinoff.. 😕 they really couldve done some amazing universe building if they keept making bloodlines and wayward sisters 🤨 well, who knows, maxbe they will do something like that now that supernatural has ended and the fans „demand“ more of that universe
This is a great video btw. When i was writing my other comment i checked your sub count and was shocked at how little subs you have. The quality makes it seem like i am watching a guy with millions of subs.
I think Bloodlines could have work if you cut the families from 5 to 3. A werewolf family, a shifter family & a Men of Letters family ( explains why hunters don’t know about them ). The Men of Letters keep these families secret because they helped saved Chicago ( Chicago fire? ). Sam & Dean find this out in the Men of Letters files after finding what happened to Ennis’ is girlfriend in Chicago ( maybe Sam had recognized Ennis’ last name ).
Loving the editting, amazing and getting better every time! Watched this one with my mom and she couldn't stop pausing and saying "YES THAT'S ONE SMART YOUNG MAN" lol
Thank you so much, that's so kind of you ! Always looking forward to your comments, they're so lovely! :) Thank you so much, SpxceWaves' mom! I try, haha
I would love a spin off!! It was good. Loved all the characters. Love Dean and Sam but if they don’t come back. I would watch a spin off! I have been hooked for years. Please give this old woman her Supernatural back!!!!
3:05 I think this looks way to much like Grimm: Ennis becomes a hunter after finding about, one of is family members was a hunter Nick is on is way to become a Grimm after finding about, one of is family members is a Grimm Ennis creates a friendship with a creature Nick creates a friendship with a wesen Romance David (Shapeshifter) and Violet (Werewolf) ave a Romance Monroe (Blutbad) and Rosalee (Fuchsbau) ave a Romance Mystery and Intrigue the keys kept by grimms, that from a map
I believe that they should make a spin off called “Supernatural: Origins” in which i think they should focus on Sam and Dean’s grandfather and father while they’re hunters, during which they should also focus on how Hunter’s started to kind of come together in the sense of how Sam and Dean are able to contact a group of Hunters who seemingly give assistance against the worse of monster’s due to their relationship with Sam and Dean’s father. Also they should focus on the development of the hierarchy in hell such as how Crowley came to be the king, the story of yellow eyes, how Lucifer was locked away, etc. they’ve got the mystery required for them to further the story without focusing on characters which were developed in Supernatural.
I agree with your assessment of the situation. Timing is everything here and given how close it was to the season finale of season 9 it certainly did put it in a situation with it up against the wall. Bloodlines itself did seem like it was struggling to pick up traction, least to me that is. I will watch the second video of course but for this not sure it could have been revived like how many times the Winchester Brothers themselves have been throughout the series run.
Personally, I loved the episode (both backdoor pilots, actually), and I first saw Bloodlines about 3-4 weeks ago. I think that it could have done very well, but fans of the time were to focused on the Winchesters. Likely an unpopular opinion, but I believe that they should have stuck a bit more to the supernatural, the namesake of the series, as opposed to such a heavy focus on the brothers. Keep them in the majority of the seasonal content, but use some of the filler episodes to showcase other hunters, other countries, other creatures. A lot of balls were dropped, narratively, over the series, and I think the showrunners themselves got caught up in turning the Winchesters into the center of the show's universe. Another major issue was their reliance on the angel/demon/heaven/hell arc. I think it should have been like a season, maybe 2, but not the overarching focus, because it forced them to have characters make irrational decisions in order for a new "big bad" to show up that actually upped the stakes. Had they kept it focused on cryptids and more "earthly" baddies, I think they could have made the show much better. Best part is, they could keep Castiel and Crowley around as sort of liasons to either throne, helping out with or fighting against whatever came their way because of it. But that's just my opinion.
I just didn’t like the characters enough to be invested in the show. I also think they threw too many characters at me. I would have preferred that the writers and productions team had concentrated on the leads or a very small ensemble cast. This was just too busy.
Just watched this episode and got a real Kindred the Embraced vibe. Not sure it would have made a good Supernatural spin off as it seemed like it would have dealt more with the drama between the 5 families.
Thanks for the vid nice breakdown. Tbh when i saw the backdoor pilot for bloodlines, i kinda got bored with it that I didnt push through with the whole episode. I dunno i found it common/ordinary...the characters, the story, it just didnt give me the same vibe as spn did. Im sorry but it wasnt interesting enough for me to get hooked. As for the wayward sisters, i love jody and donna but im not digging the younger characters. I wasnt a fan of claire in the get go, i find the character too basic. Id even prefer charlie to be thrown in the mix and meg too even, if they cud bring her back or something. Heck i even like dorothy from oz as she seemed badass I didnt feel the "connection" of these 2 shows to spn. Its more of like a simple crossover episode than a spinoff series
Hi, guys! Tell me what you think about the new format! Higher editing quality and more goofs and jokes. Currently have an issue with the audio but once that gets solved I'll probably be able to speed up production and get you guys some more videos out much faster than usual! Stay safe, stay frosty! Keep writing! :)
bloodlines had nothing in common with supernatural except the monsters...and monsters doing political and mob vs police stuff is as stupid as it gets, the worst of both worlds...supernatural is ''saving ppl, hunting things, the family business '' if the filler episodes would have been about business monsters and factions this would've made sense, but a hole city of monsters contradicts all up to season 9 edit...at least a running gag like don't go hunting in the city ...
While it is a different universe and tone, I would suggest The Originals (also on the CW). It's got supernatural factions, lots of mystery, romance, action, etc.
*Update:* (discord below) PART 2 is coming next week from this comment! Apologies, there have been issues with the microphone I have been trying to fix. Hopefully, the new one won't have the same issues and I'll be able to speed up production! discord.gg/zGyGPCE
I watched... Well sat through & tolerated the Bloodlines episode & have to say wow! No wonder it sank, terrible acting nearly all round minus the Supernatural cast carrying the episode. I honestly never knew they tried to do a 2nd box ticker spin off show lol
It did ignore a few things about Supernatural's canon, for sure. Yeah, a lot of people are in that team, and that's one of the big reasons the CW won't go ahead with a spin-off unless it's basically perfect. Thank you for taking the time to comment! :)

(sorry for the wait)
Why You don't talk about the Winchesters cancellation?
I personally think that it would have made a great spinoff
i think its main problem is that they tried to sell it as a supernatural spin off. it would've been perfectly solid if it was its own thing.
