    I really appreciate this video and adore your style. It’s like you are asking and then answering the questions I am asking before I think to ask them. Very cool. Of course, I subscribed immediately. I have an old Minolta SRT 101, an old Nikon F1, a Nikon D90, a Nikon D610, a bunch of DX and FX lenses, a Fuji X100T (great for portraits), and a terrific Really Right Stuff tripod with a great ball head. But I am older now and really don’t want to carry this gear around. The point and shoots are interesting but feel small in my large hands, so this Sony RX 10 IV seems just about perfect. I always shoot in RAW and post-process primarily in Lightroom (which does 85% of what Photoshop does). This sounds like the camera for the future travels for an older retired guy.

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  2 роки тому

      Hey. Thanks so much for your comment ! You certainly have some great gear there and you bring up a great point about traveling. Who really wants to lug around all those lenses and extra gear through airports with the potential of something getting damaged, etc. The one camera solution is so much more practical snd the compromises are minimal. Not sure if you saw my other video comparing the RX 10 to a full frame (Alpha One) but the results are a bit surprising. At least they were to me ! Best of luck in your shooting ventures and thanks again for your support !

      @@techtoremember8096 Yes I saw that video too! I was as surprised as you were! A neighbor across the street shifted from high end Nikon DSLR’s to the Nikon Z system. Granted, he is an excellent photographer and has a small portrait studio in his retirement. And I am super impressed by the Z mirrorless cameras as well as the Canon R series mirrorless versions. But … they are still heavy. Next summer I’ll be cruising around the Med at visiting many archeological sites with uneven ground and slippery-with-time steps. While I could take the full frame kit, why do so if I can have a more than adequate camera that is light, shoots RAW, has a super-telephoto? I know people think Sony will release a Mark V sometime soon, but my view is that this Mark IV is great, and if they do release the V in the next months, I am guessing my IV purchase will cost less. Thanks again.

    I've been tempted by the Sony RX10 iv in the past but went with the Leica V-Lux 114. Still, I think the Sony probably has the edge on the 114 except when it comes to ergonomics and the direct access controls featured on the 114. I hate menu diving when handling speed is important. Another feature of the 114 was that it allowed you to shoot video and stills (limited) at the same time.

    I could never forget my RX10iv. It is the absolute fastest focusing camera I've ever had. In flexible spot mode it grabs bird photos that I would be waiting for my my excellent Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 lens (image quality wise, but not focusing speed wise. I adore my RX10iv. It is my favorite good light event lens because of its range and fill-in flash. No lens changing necessary. It is truly a treasure. I'm not expecting Sony to make a mark v model, but I'd be sure to get one if they did. By the way, the viewfinder of this camera is head and shoulders better than that of the Sony A7iii (I think they fixed the viewfinder in the a7iv) and I think the out of camera camera is much better in the RX10iv than the A7iii.

    Hello. Enjoy your presentations. I just wanted to chime in. I'm an enthusiast photographer, starting about 20 years with the advent of digital. I went the Canon route of 4/3 with the Rebel, then 60D, and finally 6D. And of course several lenses. I enjoy making travel videos and shooting florals and landscapes. About 4 years ago I took note of the then-new Sony RX10IV and the more I looked the more I realized how wonderfully versatile it was and how good the overall IQ was. I decided to pull the plug and purchase one and have never looked back. Looking back at some of my older work, the Sony just plain produces better results for me than what I was shooting with the Canon. And the video is fantastic. Long story short, I sold all my Canon equipment back to B&H and also purchased the Nikon P1000. The two are all I need. The Nikon is fun, takes very good videos, has insane reach but just average IQ. When we travel, it's just the Sony and I get super results!

    Great overview of a great camera. It may not be the best camera for any one thing, but it does a lot of things very, very, well. I purchased this camera in 2018 for a month-long trip to Africa. It took me a couple of weeks to learn how to use it adequately, and I still don’t know how to use half of its functionality. I produced great images allowing me to get close to the subject without being eaten. Having one camera body and one lens made moving from camp to camp, and around in the field much easier. Others had bags of camera bodies, multiple lenses, and other accessories making it hard to get around and more expensive as luggage weight is limited on flights around the Mara, and extra pounds cost money. The camera is also well sealed (not water or dust proof, but better than many) alleviating some of the worry about keeping your equipment clean. I do agree about the battery though, it doesn’t last long if you’re shooting a lot, but having two extra batteries got me through the day without any problems. All in all, a great camera. If they don’t come out with the V, and if my IV ever breaks down, I would buy another.

    Nice video! I really am doubting that there will ever be an RX10 V. If there is one I will be first in line to get it. I sold my Mark 4 a couple of years ago but I I do find myself missing it occasionally. It is a remarkable capable camera and even though it has some quirks I don’t think there is anything quite comparable to it yet. I have been thinking lately of buying a super zoom mostly for travel and wildlife. I currently shoot an OM systems OM-1 which is amazing. I mostly use it for birds with the 300mm F4 Pro prime lens. It’s great and while much smaller and lighter than a similar FF setup it still can be too large for convenient travel. I usually take 3 or 4 lenses. While I would lose some AF performance otherwise it is not dissimilar from my OM-1. I do think that the common use of noise reduction software now makes it a much better choice than when it came out. I also found that many venues won’t allow ILC cameras. I have gotten into many events with the Sony.

      Hi! Thanks for your comment. As you know there are so many options today to shoot indoor sports. Since it’s indoors you might want a bigger sensor due to lowlight concerns A full frame sensor like an A7 iiii or 4 would work but then you need lenses. Nice thing about the Rx 10 mk 4 is that it’s so versatile. One lens is all you need and even though it’s a smaller sensor it still holds up in low light. ! So why not the Rx10 mk 4? especially if you’re already familiar with the Sony ecosystem, menus etc !

      @@RobVarley The low available light conundrum can be mediated by a camera with a decent ISO range as well as a larger sensor. The problem is finding a solution to all of the problems. A full format sensor will gather in more light, but most full format digital single lens reflex cameras are interchangeable lens systems. So, you have the lower light capacity of the larger sensor, but you gain heft or weight and considerably so. The lens you may choose will cost more if it has a f/2 at the widest, for example, so as to allow in more light. At this wide open setting, your depth of field is crap. If the target is sports then movement is part of the problem. You can shoot at a faster speed, at the loss of light gathering. You may choose to shoot on a stable tripod but then lose some flexibility in terms of moving with your sports or inside target. To have the camera system (including ‘fast’ lenses and full format sensors), you will have to spend a huge amount of money.

      Hi and thanks for your comment! I would definitely recommend the RX10 for birding with its great zoom. If you move from the Nikon just realize you will be going from an APS-C sensor to a 1" sensor but the Sony can definitely hold its own against larger sensor mirrorless cameras. It's a very underrated camera for professional photography -- of course just realize that it's not an interchangeable lens camera so the maximum zoom on the Sony is 600mm (900 if you go clear image zoom). You can't add any more lenses as you could with a camera that has a interchangeable lens option. Your Nikon is a 500mm which is equivalent to a 750mm in full frame terms on your APS-C camera so actually the Sony would give you slightly less reach than what you currently have. Please realize that!
      Hope this helps -And best of luck!

    I've watched quite a few of your videos, and you do a fantastic job with everything from specs to performance. Your models are easy on the eyes also! I'm searching for a bridge camera to video auto sports. I was liking the Sony RX 10 until you pointed out it won't refocus while zooming. That's a critical requirement for auto sports, because for video, as the car comes closer or moves farther away, both focus and zoom need to constantly match the car's position. 1. Can I rely on the Sony's autofocus while manually tracking zoom with the lens ring? 2. Are there better bridge cameras for recording auto sports? 3. Or will I have to move into full-frame cameras? Most of the lower-cost bridge cameras have other onerous deficits.

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  Рік тому

      Hi there. First, thanks so much for your compliments. Much appreciated! As for your focus question, that's a good one. Its very hard for most cameras to focus while zooming to be honest. Even mirrorless cameras can struggle with that (the larger sensor makes it more challenging). I will say, the RX10IV does a very good-excellent job with AF in sunny conditions. Not sure if you remember the scene in the video with the man riding the bike, how the AF locked on during that scene. More modern cameras do have a AF "tracking feature" for video and since you mentioned cars, some of the newer cameras like the Nikon Z8, Sony full frame cameras and Canon can detect cars, if you input that in your focus menu, so they will actually use algorithms to keep a car in focus, if it detects a car in the scene. If this is your primary use for the camera, then a mirrorless with this focus feature might be for you. Naturally, it's going to be way more money. I will say, that in bright light and if you are not fully zoomed in, I do think the RX is up for the task. You can also use manual focus if it super critical and try that but naturally that's going to require a lot more effort! There are no other bridge cameras that I am aware of that would have this sophisticated focus feature that I mentioned however. The Nikon P950's focus is very good but its a small sensor camera and that zoom is even higher and subject to AF errors So if you want a bridge camera the RX10IV, even though its older, I do believe is still top notch for focus. For the best in focus today, you'd have to upgrade to a mirrorless unfortunately since that's where the manufacturers are spending the most time and where the latest tech is. I hope this helps and thanks again for your support.

    • @techtoremember8096

      The Sigma (on a full frame camera I assume) will give you a better image, no question. You will also get good bokeh on the RxMark4 at long telephoto. They are 2 very different solutions. The Sigma and full frame camera will be significantly more expensive (when you consider the cost of the camera). But for pure picture quality, the Sigma will be better, but if you are doing hidden camera videos where discretion is important, the RX solution will be much smaller. Hope that helps!

      Thanks for the comment ! As to your question, well I think you have to decide if the 350mm is enough reach ? It’s certainly a long zoom but 600 mm is quite a bit longer. Are interchangeable lenses important to you ? You can’t go wrong with either camera but a 70 mm lens on the wide side is very limiting. 70 mm is definitely not a 24 mm which the Rx10 mk 4 has I would say that lens 70-350 is more of a specialty lens. I have this cam also. But when I do recording video on the cam , the LCD screen goes dim so very hard to see in daylight outdoor. Why is that so? Anyone knows why? How to fix it?

      Is this only when shooting 4K or when HD as well? Are you talking about the EVF or the LCD screen?

      @@techtoremember8096 I'm taking about the LCD screen when shooting 4k video. I didn't notice it when I first bought the cam. Then when I was using it last week. I have the A7S and A6500, the LCD never go dim when recording.

      I just tested it with my RX10 IV and I did not see that. The screen stays at the same brightness as HD. You are referring to the RX10 IV is that right? I would also look at the menu and see where your VF brightness is set at and make sure it is at the maximum. Also check the menu and make sure you dont have any energy efficiency modes set.

    This Is a great camera!! Have you tried the Canon PowerShot SX70 hs? It has even more ZOOM capability, but a smaller sensor as well. It would be interesting 😃✌️

      The sx70 is not even on the same universe as the rx10 in terms of IQ, autofocus etc. The only it got is a longer range.
      The Nikon p950 is superior to it for that purpose.

    does it record 1080p 60fps? i want a camera for budget level as i am new. i am not a fan of zooming. but focusing and clarity should be better for video at night mode also

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  Рік тому

      Hi there. Yes it does shoot 1080 at 60 fps - if you’re not a fan of zooming this may not be he camera for you since you are paying for that long zoom lens. There are many other less expensive options out there with shorter lenses if you like. You don’t have to zoom with this camera - on the other hand it does have a nice wide angle lens too and is very good at night as you can see from the video !

    I am a new subscriber and a new fan. It seems like you very opinionated. Thank you so much for that. Here is my million dollar question. I have a Song dsc hx400v but my struggle is, (to my limited knowledge) it cannot be fitted with a Rode Wireless Go as it does not have a microphone jack. I found some adapters that can purchase, but…the receptacles on the camera are not wired internally for a microphone. I did find that Sony does make wireless external microphones that can connect but are not completely compatible with this model. Sound problems from what I have read, but I don’t know nothing about sound to know that it would bother me. Should I trash my idea of making sound work on this camera? Humor bagel and gilstrap tv are both UA-cam channels that I’m going to try and put my own spin on. Taking video from long-distance while having good audio, stability and focus while being discreet but not too creepy (lol) are big. Can you offer a recommendation that will do these? I’m really new to cameras so high end would probably be above my knowledge.

      Hey there and thanks for subscribing ! I am actually going to do a review of the hx 400at some point. I’m afraid without a mic jack, you cannot use an external mic. Do you have a basic editing program ? If so, I recommend getting an inexpensive digital voice recorder and then sync the sound up later in post production. I use this technique when I do not have access to an external mic. I hope this might work for you
