I am so happy you shared this! Eddie is my dad. He passed away recently. I wish I had seen this before so I could tell him how amazing I thought he was back then!!!! I never knew he went for it quite like that at only 22!!! Wow. I am so proud. Again, thank you for sharing.
@Emma Harding Wow, Eddie must have been a great dad! I can say I've been a H & Y fan since I was 16 - just listen to them: Only two guys who produced that impressing sound! Besides I'm very proud to also have their music on quite a rare bootleg album: "Hardin & York Live In Hamburg 1970"! May Eddie r.i.p.!
I was in the audience. What a night it was in Essen! Unforgettable. Later in life met Eddie and Pete a few times. Great guys with a lot of music in them.
Hi Emma, in Argentina, in the circles that understand rock, also are known. I have 2 LP's (The World s Smallest Big Band and Pop Giants Vol. 30)... I love them. I very much regret the death of Eddie. Great musicians.
Hardin &York war die erste Band die ich als Teeny Live gesehen habe. Es war in Offenbach. Sie spielten als Opener von "The Flock". "The Flock" hatten einen Geiger. Das war Jerry Goodman, der später im "Mahavishnu Orchestra" von John Mc Laughlin spielte. Aber Hardin &York spielten mitreißend als Duo. Unvergessen.
This was from a time before Prince Andrew taught me how not to sweat. The drumming I taught myself. For the drummers- The time beat you can hear me play is part of a triplet which runs all the way through the piece. You can't hear the other two beats on the left hand which make up the triplet. When you play along with this try to keep that triplet going. It's a good workout. I personally believe that Eddie was as good as Emerson, Jon Lord, Brian Auger or any of the greats of the time. Over and out. Pete.

This footage is not from October 1970 but from April 1970 when the second edition of the Essener Pop & Blues Festival was held on 24th and 25th April.

Emma: your dad was THE best Hammond organ player I have ever seen!!! I also saw Steve Winwood many times, but your dad just edged him, imho.
Thank you! I really wish I had appreciated his talent more when he was around for me to tell him!!
Any live video of Pete York playing with Doldinger (Passport and Friends)? Thank you !.....
“Turn that fucking thing off” hahahaha
