Auto part stores sell hard plastic wedges that will lift the top of the appliance much easier without chancing scratching the unit.
My dryer isn't spinning and makes this loud sound. I believe it was due because there was to many clothes put into it at once. What should I do and what is wrong with it do you think? Thank You! :)

My 16 + year old Maytag dryer is making a banging noise that sounds like I am drying a pair of sneakers...There seems to be something that has come loose between the outside housing and the drum on the left side. The noise is rhythmic and comes with each rotation. Maintenance cannot come for a week. Should I stop using it?
