Of all the excellent material Jon has posted, this resonated with me most strongly. A really beautiful combination of scholarship and personal reflection, presented in a way that is engaging and educational. I'll be listening to this one repeatedly!
I think it’s really fascinating how much of this still ties back to the basics of performing and learning the performing arts. Growing up in a theater and studying things like public speaking (my mom was a director/actress/theater teacher), I can see how even the basics of improv or even the skill of doing cold readings would absolutely be necessary to learning how to effectively communicate any of these stories... which is funny considering the bad wrap actors and artists as a whole have today (though there is something to be said about how we worship A-list actors still), but when you’re performing it truly is a spiritual experience. Add in the actual spiritual training as well as the academic elements of learning the history, and you can kinda get a feel for what the training might have looked like yknow? I just think it’s neat that humans are humans and we are still training ourselves to be able to tell stories using our whole bodies, not just our mouths.
Also unrelated: as an artist I always said I wish I had a superpower that allowed me to be able to bring to life anything I draw. It’s interesting, when you have a passion that you’re fully pursuing, the only superpowers you could ever imagine having are the ones that push you further into that passion. GRMA for sharing!
I would personally choose either being able to go between this world and the otherworld in my full physical form at will, OR probably the ability to tap into that full and complete knowledge like you said. Both would be fun and useful I think (:
If I had to pick I would choose between 5 super powers (1) Immortality, (2) Whatever I think of then snap my fingers it appears kind of like a wizard, (3) Being indestructible - regenerative like nothing can hurt me (4) Something practical like being able to communicate with everything on the planet every languages, animals & nature. However I like yours (5) Having Supreme intelligence to solve problems of the world.
Green Lantern isn't my favorite superhero, but I think those are the super powers that would best suit me.
cool my super power would be like making potals to different places or otherworld like the mages in world of warcraft lol
If Jon were a "planeteer" his power would be "heart"
Finally Jon admits that we're forming the avengers IRL and he's the Dagda and I'm Tony Stark of the long arm. it's Easy.
Jon, I remember at age 7 being obsessed with superheros. Batman and the X-men more than anything. I knew there was no child in the world who wanted to be a superhero more than I did. I knew it.
It was always so hard to pick a power. (language of the birds upcoming:)
I remember choosing "every superpower" several times. "The power to do anything" I would wish for as my superpower.
Later I matured and settled on: "the powers of all the x-men characters"
Now: entering the madman part of the comment
Soon Lex Luthor's brain chip headsets will create a "danger room" like x-men power using opportunity. For anyone with the mind to imagine right with the brain chips (probably something "magicians" will be good at)
Anyway anyway
I used to want every power and now I'm a madman who think he's Lugh and destined to be a sort of shining savior that brings world peace.
Do I have any doubts? None whatsoever.
It's my Geasa against wealth and violence, along with, idk, the destiny of all destiny, along with white privilege, along with seeing Michael Jordan as the Champion of Chicago teaching me how to be great.
Anyway, we can do it. I can stand on one leg. I'm not even sure y'all will want to leave Ireland in August the way things are going.

it´s horrible how they´ve taken
the originally very local family
/ kin concepts (of souls and
otherworlds) and tried to twist
them to include all of humanity.
so out of touch with what is
actually happening between
different human factions..
it´s funny how the pagan ones
always have a material counterpart
(whether it´s the stars or the
bee´s nest, pure spiritualists
they were not).
how about 30% love, 70% common
sense.. you get closer to truth if
nothing else :)
