Omg finally one of you guys make a review. 🥳 I’ve been waiting for it haha it was very tempting a long time ago but honestly I think I’d be nervous about the vacuum device breaking during my travels 🙃
I love the design ethos of this bag, it makes so much sense given how much space you can save However. The fact you have to buy the pump as a $50 extra when it’s a core component of the design feels like a bit of a scam Would be like buying a car and then the company going oh you want an engine? Can you vacuum seal the compartment in any other easy way if you don’t have it? Because my vacuum at home would be too big for that opening
Not calling the backpack bad but that integrated vacuum bag section seems more of a gimmick. Anyone can buy a set of vacuum bags for clothes and one of those portable vacuums for cheaper than what it cost the company to make the integrated one, and because they are separate, you can arrange them however you please. You can also pick different sizes so you're not tied down to that one, huge open section. These vacuum bags are pretty light so shouldn't weigh you down as much as the material in that integrated one, and the plastic closure is much easier to slide open and close than the zipper of that bag. And since they're not integrated, you can move them around from bag to bag. Cheaper, lighter, easier to open and close, easier to replace if they get damaged, more versatile arrangement, and if you don't need them, you can leave them at home. You're welcome.
100%. Also if this bag’s vacuum bag breaks your SOL. In general I find vacuum bags a pain to deal with anyways. Packing cubes with compression are way easier to deal with.
@@Nomads.Nation @MrPhilbautista Well in my opinion the real game changer here is the fact of having that mini vacuum device compatible for the backpack. I wouldn't go with a vacuum, even less if I'm going to the airport. and others mini vacuums aren't as compact as this one. For the time I arrived at my destination, or even more important in an emergency situation, I could unpack all my stuff and then pack everything again without having to search for a vacuum. That is the real utility I saw in this model.
$50 for that pump?! You can get the Tiny Pump 2.0 from Flextailgear for less than half, it's even a bit smaller and comes with 5 types of nozzles, that allow you to use it for all kinds of inflatable gear. This backpack also looks a lot like an Aer TP3.
traveling is already a stressful experience… dont wanna be caught re-vacing in public minutes before boarding if 1) had to open due to TSA or instructions at the boarding gate (esp. during a tight connection) 2) had a leak of some sort 3) needed to grab something out, also imagine the anxiety of trying to avoid to open your packing cube the whole time but still needing something… that feeling’s worse than wanting to go to the bathroom but cant find one around 😂 thats a pass for me…
I am a passionate Airback hater. Any type of clothing is easy to be ruined if it’s puffy and if it is a jacket. The vacuum seal is noisy too, if you need an extra sock you have to dig around until you find it then revacuum it, which will annoy the fuck out of everyone around you.
Great review. Very informative. I am amazed with its capacity. Most importantly, it was really entertaining watching you go through details. Were you a teacher before? 😅 For a sec, I thought of buying it, but two things come to mind. Maybe you can help: 1. It's not USD 228. It's USD 329. Is it still worth it? If not, what do you recommend checking for a carry-on backpack, if I wanna travel across states for two weeks? 2. Where is it made? Is it made in China?
This honestly looks pretty good in comparison to the Aer Travel 35L, similar yet a bit slimmer trying very hard to be 2 different bags. The air tool is a little expensive though unless you buy it in a bundle & I'm not sure if its worth it at full price however the current black friday sale is enticing. As you said though the hidden pocket could definitely be bigger, looks like a struggle for a passport, wallet and keys. Also the zippers aren't waterproof either - not even the laptop compartment yet the rest of the bag looks very weatherproof - weird decision
perhaps the fabric doesn't peel, and sometimes PU coated zippers do, so they sacrificed that extra bit of water resistance so the bag can last longer... but just a theory
@@Nomads.Nation Perhaps. Another option is to just use an umbrella although I once encountered a situation where a simplistic rain cover on a bicycle bag with non waterproof zippers resulted in a soaking iPad Pro so its made me shift my bag priorities
are you just moving your stuff there in one backpack and then staying put? or do you want the backpack to double up as a weekend travel bag? and everyday carry bag? more details needed lol
I’m moving there for roughly a year because I’m doing an Erasmus year so I would say I’d be looking for a decent everyday carry that could fit clothes if I needed

Here’s a big damn🖕to Airback for: - Stupidly heavy weight - No YKK zippers - Loud and inefficient vacuum system that takes a century to seal - No waist straps - No hidden quick access compartment big enough for a passport - Laptop compartment is not PU coated!!! - Pain in the ass for connection flights and TSA if they need to check your bag - AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Vacuum seal comes separately for $50 dollars. SEPARATELY. For a company that has ‘vacuum’ as their selling point. I can’t find the most accurate way to describe the product because I might get reported.
I have heard you talk a lot about how strict airlines in Asia are getting with carry-on's now. Is it size? Weight? Both? Weight always confused me because each person weighs a different amount, who cared if my carryon weights 10 lbs more than another. It used to not be bad at all. Can you talk more about this and some advice? Do you see it getting better or worse in coming years? Good 2 bag setups, stuff like that, to maximize volume and weight.
I see it getting much worse as even the premium Asian airlines are doing it now. You just gotta keep up to date with their restrictions of the airline you are flying and try to go under their limits
I saw many similar backpacks like this on chinese B2B or B2C platforms. I don't know if this backpack is literally the same from those companies. 200 $ is a robbery.
I traveled to China for 2 wks and in downtown Shanghai I think I saw a vacuum bag 1/6 the price of Airback but I’m no expert. But I think all the raw materials+production does not amount to even $150 IMO.
Interesting. I don't understand why the "main" selling feature/unique selling point of the bag is an add-on. Since it's clearly an Aer TP3 inspired/dup, you think they'd address the weight. Nope.
I don’t really see much use case for compression anything. Physics tells you have the same amount of room inside a bag, as you pack it tighter it will compress itself.
Integrating the vacuum compression into the bag is innovative, but I wrote it off when you said the pump was $50 and not included. What a joke. Terrible ethos for this company, and they will surely fail due to this nickle and dime approach. The pump is absolutely necessary (like you said, you have to be able to compress while you’re traveling) yet they don’t include it and then have the audacity to charge $50 for a thing that goes on amazon all day for $20. Folks in the backpacking community use these pumps to inflate/deflate sleeping pads.. they don’t cost $50. Cool idea, dumb company.

yea I should have emphasized more the fact that if the air-sealed part breaks, the whole bag is f-ed lol

neither, both too gimmicky for my personal taste. I'd go with brands like Aer, Tortuga, Evergoods, or Able Carry instead

thanks for sharing!
Airback sounds a lot like aer bag and this is clearly inspired by the aer travel pack
I don’t know about clearly… but yea… it’s closer than I initially considered
I was looking at this , but how long before Air seeps through the zipper , i would rather buy separate vacuum bags ,
hopefully never, but it's a good point, if that happens the bag is useless

it does technically compress your clothes, a bit more so than I think you'd be able to do without it... but by how much I'm not sure
Three minutes to compress your clothes. Thirty minutes to iron them after they have been compressed to death. Yeah, that's a no for me.
