- Two guys going on a shopping expedition in south Trinidad around San Fernando and the Bunsee Trace and Suchit Trace regions of Debe. The highlight of the trip is supposed to be having a ten dollar roti in Marabella as we want to experience this unique Trinidad food that is now dropping in price. We have fun whenever we go out, even when shopping as many of our ventures are like mini Trinidad road trips.

I greatly appreciate the Super Thanks.
And the Boys are at it again😊❤ so nice to see !
Yes we have fun.
Shop as you go, no list!!😅 Well stocked! I know this place.😊
I only use a list when I am shopping for other people.
WTF! Bait and switch! 😲
I guess you are referring to the part about the roti. That was the plan but we changed mid stream as explained in the video. But there will be a $10 roti video.
@@pointboy12 B'yuh coulda changed de title ...
I enjoy the shopping videos, but next time please say the area and the stores name also. God bless🙏👍
Thank you. In the video I did give the areas where I went however in the future I will try to be clearer.
Hello dearie, tell Papa rest assured, the $10 roti in Marabella is genuine, no instigator of toilet business. 😁😁 It's just smaller to suit smaller budget. They offer regular size also, wrapped or in container. I'm surprised that the cheap roti is a novelty to you all since Point Fortin is its birthplace as far as I know. I grew up knowing "piper roti" which was what we called the specially made roti scaled down to suit the pockets of the odd vagrant addict aka "piper." Regular size was $5, if I remember correctly so "piper" was probably $2. Point was the only place I knew had that roti back then. We would also say that the ordinary pair of rubber slippers was "piper Clark's" 😂😂😂 tongue in cheek reference that that was the closest to the well-known Clark's brand that a "piper" could afford.
I am familiar with pipers Clarks as I bought one a weekend with I was going for a beach house weekend and realized that I had forgotten to bring slippers. There is a roti shop in San Fernando that has piper roti on their menu board. I wanted to try the roti as there is now an explosion of these cheaper roti around Trinidad. At age 90 my father has gotten a little fussy.
I suppose I really can't fault Papa for being extra careful at his age. 😄 God bless him. Keep loving him up. Old folks are more than gold. 💖 💖💖
"Piper Clark's" saved the day, lol. It's like Crix, no matter the bourgeois menu items you eat, Crix always has its secured place. 😁
@@nuffwahalatrypeacetrini9ja414 Yes, Crix is essential.
Lots of salt in those instant soups 🍲
Yes they do have salt. Although I buy them I space out my consumption, maybe once every two or three weeks. Sometimes I only boil the noodles and do not use the seasoning pack instead making my own seasoning.
@@pointboy12 indeed.👍🏾
i enjoyed your shopping trip.
didn't like the comment you made about the $10. roti
I have nothing against the roti. I was just explaining why I did not go for it. In fact last Saturday evening I went thru Marbella and double checked where it is located so that when I am ready to make the video I can find it.
@@pointboy12 I know you have nothing against roti. but it's the people's bread and butter, and the comment was not for the media.
@@nphipps9406 Thank you, I will try to be for careful with my words in future.
You have to make sure it ain’t dog dem Chinese sending to alyuh
Dog is a highly prized delicacy and so there is no way that it would be sold cheaply in a supermarket.
May be in china. In many countries like the uk it’s banned. food especially meat even from European countries don’t get a pass to sell their products. They found illegal monkey meat being imported from Africa in england a few years back being sold at market places under counter, some were also legit businesses. Am very careful when buying food.
@jasvq7 Some places and also people do not want certain types of meat sold more because of an emotional attachment rather than health reasons. Dog meat is an example of this. As you mentioned eating monkey meat is frowned upon but in Trinidad monkey is eaten during the hunting season. Many people shun eating rabbit and it is because rabbit is associated with Bugs Bunny. However rabbit is widely sold around the world in supermarkets. The important thing is really how the animal was raised, slaughtered and then the meat stored. From what I have learned dogs for food do not run around in the yard but are raised in cages just like how they raise chickens. Actually chickens run around an enclosed pen while the dogs do not touch the ground. It is my understanding that the UK banned horse meat last year but in France and Eastern Europe horse is commonly eaten.
@@pointboy12 Never knew Trinidad eats monkey meat. Not a 100% if horse meat is banned in the uk, it was missed advertised as ground beef to the consumer which caused a big problem. Things like rabbit is big in Europe especially southern parts.
@@jasvq7 Thanks I thought it was banned.
