Unique Barbados Sport - Road Tennis

The only place in the world that I have seen this sport is in Barbados, so it is a uniquely Barbadian sport. Road Tennis is widely played in Barbados and is a combination of several racquet sports. Going to see road tennis players in action is a good addition to any Barbados holiday as it can be one of the things to do while on vacation.

Although I have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean I have only ever seen it in Barbados.

No it not unique, I am 60 and I played this game in a little barracks yard in New Town within the area behind Shian's which was originally Haf Fi shop. I was 10 at the time we were too poor for lawn tennis rackets and also too poor for a table tennis board so it's was a piece of old board for the net and two pieces of wood roughly shaped to a racket. Money was put up for a tennis ball. During the August holiday it was our only entertainment as my family didn't have a TV and my neighbourhood friends started this game which we played in the little concrete strip in front of the rooms that housed other families. So we played this long long ago we never gave it a name though for us it was just fun

I never realized this game was played in Trinidad, I certainly do not see it being played here anymore. Barbados is the only place I see it being played these days.
