Depends on your age. Those cars get popular now because people who dreamed about those cars while they were young are now at an age where they can afford to buy them. It's like that with every generation of cars.
I get what you're saying, but I didn't grow up caring about cars at all. I was born in '94 and I didn't give a shit about cars until I started driving when I was like 19 or 20, and I didn't really gain my current enthusiasm til maybe a few years ago.

Why even have such a beautiful car and having all those mods etc. and then not be invested in good tires? It's a weird thing to comment on, but i freaking love the speedometer! I think it was in the (old) Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed you could drive this car :)
You are a great driver, and how you use the pedals is on another level. Maybe only at the beginning the first and second gears shift a little earlier. You can see on the faces of the owners that they are not too happy. I am already looking forward to the next video.
Nice Misha! Happy for you that you got to drive one of these (again). The time I worked as a Porsche-Technician, the 997 was the hot thing and the 996 received a lot of hate. Because of the headlamps etc. The first time I've driven a 996 ("just" the regular one with 320 PS tho) I actually liked it very much and the way it drove.
My favourite ever car to drive was a 911 GT3 RS, which makes NO SENSE as it is a Porsche and configured all wrong. But somehow it defies physics. None of the old understeer everywhere until UH OH OVERSTEER HALP! It’s cool to see this is your favourite car. How the hell they do it, I really don’t know. I don’t think reality is real, someone at Porsche has cheat codes.
Misha, I'm curious if you think something like a 2/3 way JRZ or other motorsport coilover suspension would have helped it over the curbs? I'm so drawn to the 996 GT3. I love my Touring, but as I've grown as a driver I continue to crave something tactile and raw that requires a very high level of focus and commitment to drive. I keep getting drawn back to the 996 GT3 for that reason.
Im sure you are aware of this. I think your driving position was not the best. The steering wheel position looks good but your ankle is in a bad angle while left foot braking. You’d need to get the pedals 10… 20 mm further away or the seat and steering wheel similarly further back. Imagine if you there is an incident while left footing and you get a bit surprised. The foot can slip easily in between the clutch the brake pedals. I am almost 2 m tall and I had a similar incident while toe and heeling. It was that much an incident that I had to sit down and think what to do to prevent it happening ever again. So I changed my T&H style. I was immediately aware that the same problem applies to the left footing. So I dont use it with the 996. My ankle angle is a lot worse than yours here. I wish I could get the pedals 15 mm further away. Another observation here, or question. At Aremberg you blanced with the left. Retrospectively, do you think it was worth it? And a third observation. The right after the downhill after Sabine’s the speed was around 150 m/h. Bergmeister did that over 200 km/h in the absurd 992 GT3 RS. Not that these should be compared as such but it tells how huge speed differencies still exist between 8/10 with an old performance car compared to 10/10 with a modern performance car. Tyres, aero, bigger platform probably the biggest reasons. Amazing! I still do not believe Jörg got any more kicks out of it except knowing he could do it.
footwork was good, but you brought the wrong shoes for a yellowbird ride and damn that thing was really fylin´and the 996 and not so "easy" driven fast
