      Nick Smith You should at least be paid a livable wage so you can maintain what you can to do your job efficiently. You think those girls wake up looking gorgeous? No it takes makeup and a healthy lifestyle of which both ain’t cheap. So either the NFL who is a multi-billion dollar league should at least pay these girls a livable wage (which isn’t asking for much) or the NFL should nix having cheerleaders since somehow someway they can’t pay them livable earnings. No one should have eye candy if they don’t pay them decently.

    • @websurfer8041
      @websurfer8041 5 років тому +171

      I always say if you're doing a physically demanding/dangerous job for minimum wage or less then you are being taken advantage of.
      Messed up that with how much money the NFL makes they're paying their cheerleaders peanuts. It's funny too that they'll pay them a less than minimum salary but expect exceptional performances.

      It is time well invested, since the women on any cheer squad, present themselves to wealthy men who then become Trophy Wives, and then have it made.
      These women are at their peak beauty, and so they will exchange that into security.
      Then they can do jump splits on their very rich husband...
      For half of his net worth when they divorce him.

    if you’ve ever been on drill team (especially in texas) literally at least one practice a day out of the week was literally jump splits. and if you can’t keep the stamina for kicking you don’t need to be here
    also, just to be clear, a jump split is very easy especially if you already have your splits down no problem. the jump is the only thing that’s intimidating but if you can slide into your splits easily and with power that jump won’t be an issue

    i am not a cheerleader or even into sports but i have done jump splits , i did not even know it was a big move, its a cool move to do when the beat drops or at the end of the song , during parties. if you can do splits easily most likely you can do this too. It’s probably only dangerous because they are holding hands

    • @RandySoWavvy
      @RandySoWavvy 5 років тому +56

      Liza Saakadze yeah them being connected makes it way more dangerous. They have to hold each other’s shoulders if someone goes to early and pulls you down before or faster than you’re ready it can seriously injure you same with if they hesitate for even a second and throws you off mid fall it can hurt you. No room for mess ups in this situation.

    Umm... the veterans should be doing a better job teaching the jump split, if she would have held that split she would have injured a lot more than her knee. Jump splits are an illusion, when a dancer leaps up into a full split they should be landing about a 60 degree angle quickly sliding into the split. Some dance competitions have banned jump spilts due to those unmentionable injuries.

    After handling orthopedic injury cases for so long, seeing these jump splits just makes me wince. There's a reason why people are afraid to do them, the risk of injury is so high. Every girl on the squad will have back issues from this. They should come up with a signature move that isn't so damaging.

    They've been doing the jump splits for decades and there's still always girls who have never done one prior to trying out for a team where it's their signature move. There is no reason in 2019 as an incoming DCC that you shouldn't be able to jump split and you really should know some of Thunderstruck at this point too tbh.

      Hayley Reed i was on a drill team for 4 years where we had to do them yes ik theyre difficult ik you can hurt yourself but these arent new dancers they know their body and they go to studios and are on drill or cheer teams they are bound to know someone who can or has done a jump split and could help them its not a ridiculous expectation to assume that they wouldve tried it at least a couple times before trying out for a team known for jumpspilts and then they always seem shocked or surprised that theyre asked to do them that day and im not the only person who thinks this every year i see comments on it theres even other comments on this video and the videos from past years about the jump splits,, i didnt say they werent good dancers and cant be on the team bc they didnt come in knowing how to do a bad ass perfect jump split but as someone who has auditioned for a team where i knew going in id be required to do a jump split i would think its reasonable to assume you would attempt a jump split or go to someone you know whos done one to ask for them to at least get you started on doing the move,, like ?? jump splits arent the only dangerous dance move and you learn how to do it the same way you learn how to do any other difficult dance move, im sure in these womens dance career (which im sure most were more intensive than mine) they have attempted dangerous moves on their own or with someone helping i dont understand what part of expecting more girls to try it before the day they do it in front of the coaches is unreasonable

      @Curley Cues There's no way to eliminate the risk of injury, but the possibility is sometimes really frightening. Doing it under the guidance of a professional is best, but there's a point where you have to trust yourself and go for it. That first time is all nerves and hope. They do their best to help, but it's completely up to the girls to follow through.
