The metal parts from The Eastern Block during the Cold War mixes perfectly with the new modern machined receiver. The Czech tradition continues. Thanks for the summary.
I bought one of the czechpoint rifles almost a year ago (same grey finish) and it’s been nothing but spectacular. Very fine shooting rifle. Have to pick up some matching magazines but the regular black finish do just fine for now. Bought an original bipod that slides onto the bayonet lug though 👌
I considered the price but most of the newer manufactured Vz 58s are more expensive so I found value in that this was a cheaper alternative. I shoulda got one back in the day for under 5, I hesitated back then and I just didn’t like that it took proprietary mags. I now realize that lot of weapons take proprietary mags anyways, so not really an excuse in my mind.
It seems like Southern Tactical is at a price point right in between Century and CSA. How is it holding up? Any issues with the "gremlin" that plagues the VZ2008? How is the trigger pull and gas compared to the CSA guns?
Didn’t have any gremlin trigger issues. I’ve only put about a hundred rounds though it so far, it likes steel better than brass. Every other mag it may jam on brass. Trigger pull is pretty good, my 10 year old enjoys it! The newer CSA Vz.58 rifles will probably be more accurate in my opinion. This Tortort/Southern tactical TT58 has a surplus barrel and a welded muzzle break, while the CSA Vz.58 is a brand new manufacture and has a barrel made in Germany.
@@SkateAndReview main reason I can think of is that it could have been marketed to more countries since it would have been capable of taking the widely available AK mags. I don’t think that marketing it in that way was their strategy for this rifle back then, it was their whole new design for their military. They just had to design it to take 7.62x39
I never had an up close tour of one of those. That furniture wood 🪵 is not very attractive, kinda ComBloc austere. It be nice to get some nice hardwood or synthetic furniture. Enjoy shooting it 👍
I have a Century "VZ2008" and I absolutely love it. It shoots better than any of my other 3 AKs.
Nice! Yea I am going to have to compare this to my AK on the range

Yes, they did it right
Modern day SKS waiting for me. Definitely need one in my life. 👍👍
thanks for sharing. I want the vz2008 tho.
I have 2 and love them!!!
A friend let me shoot one years ago and I was immediately impressed. Finally got one and one that is closer to original

That’s cool, where did you find the bipod? I was thinking about just getting a bayonet for it
@@BattlefieldCurator I think the website was vz58usa
They usually have a bunch of (unissued) vz58 accessories. Grabbed the tactical mag release and bolt release as well.
@@krandom354 ah ok thanks
Barrel looks good overall minus the rust on the muzzle brake
Yea it looks great, going to have to see what accuracy I get out of it
Nice video and nice gun!
Thanks!
Not worth 1500 to me. Thats something you get because u really want it. Glad you like it tho.

@@BattlefieldCurator Yeah we missed out on the cheap prices lol. Look forward to seeing how it shoots.

Is the safety original layout or modified like those offered by CSA? If it is original it can take aftermarket ambi-safeties.
Funny they didn't make it to take ordinary AK magazines.
I think it would have been way more popular if it did take AK mags
Lmao why does this need to take AK mags when its magazine design is superior?

How is this mag superior to the AK's?
@@browngreen933 It is lighter, wont rust, and has a bolt hold open.
looks really cool.
I’m sure it will be great at the range, I want to go tomorrow but I already got plans… but I could do a night fire 🤔

That look is one of those things I have come to appreciate about these combloc era weapons. I didn’t think it looked all that great at first though.
