Hello family welcome back to another week's video. I was out browsing in TJMAXX and I stumble across three NEW MUG RELEASES by Rae Dunn. They are White Christmas, Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.
In today's video I will share how to make mug toppers using DAP lightweight spackling to create beautiful and festive mug toppers to display for the holidays.
Items Used:
DAP Lightweight Spackle from Walmart or any hardware store
Painters Tap - Walmart or any hardware store
Elf legs and snowman ornaments - Walmart
Wilton #2D Tip Set - Walmart or any crafting store
Snow flakes, Brown Paint, Beads, Felt Crafting Paper, Styrofoam Balls, Candy Canes, Peppermints, Reeses ornament, Hershey ornament - Hobby Lobby or Crafting store.
Scissors, pen, wax paper and your favorite mug

I would have attached topper onto cup first then decorate it. Would be a lot easier
I found it easy for me to work with toppers off the mugs until I finish them. I need free standing movement without worrying if I accidentally knock the mug over. How do you attach them to the cups?
I know you must glue them on. Do you fill the cups so they don’t fall over?
Hi Antionette, The mug toppers are just for decorations purpose only. I like displaying them on my tier tray they make great fillers, I also use them to decorate my Hot Cocoa Bar. They are easy to store away once your finish using them I wrap them in saran wrap and plastic bubble to store them in a cool place. Thank you so much for stopping by and watching have a blessed week.

Hello I’m new to your channel today and I have a question, I’ve made a couple toppers using a different brand ofspackle but planning to pickup the brand you used in this video and I’m wondering how to prevent them from breaking off small pieces they seem extremely fragile. So before investing more $ and time in this craft project I was looking for tips on how to preserve the finished project. I would hope to be able to wrap them and show at my craft fairs. Thanks much and BTW your toppers are beautiful and your video was a pleasure to watch.

Why does your foam flatten? Did you put too much white acrylic paint in it? because that putty is a little grey in the bucket.
I didn't put any paint into my spackle. I do know a few of them did flatten I believe it's because I moved them. The melting snowman I purposely shake it to give the melting effect. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a blessed weekend.

I tried it but couldn’t get the spackling to move thru the bag to pipe it on… any idea what I’m doing wrong? I used lightweight spackle
Make sure you use fresh spackle and make sure you cut the tip wider so that it can flow through. I hope this helps.

Can real sprinkles be used to make these ?
Hi Vicki, I used real sprinkles and they bleed on the spackle I think it's the color dye that is used that's why I decided to use beads from the craft store.
What is a mug topper ? Is it removable
