@@crazyhiphop4199 Hi, bisexual.
I feel that race should not have any bonus or negative. Human categorization is the worsed thing that is happening more we split each other up the worse it is for us all we are people, a human that's it gender I can see why that's there it makes sense but I have always felt we don't deserve anything the fact we think we do is stupid everything you earn what you wor for I am poor really bad through school as I was a bit slow in subjects and super good in a few but no teacher gave a crap so I really feel that people should see their poverty is on both sides, no side is fair just wish people would stop saying everyone is Racist.
Why arent your comment to the top? Btw please do a "Transgenderism is a mental illness" change my mind segment plz.

@@marksmall1476 Nah, I think you are wrong about that Mark. She seemed pretty grown up, and one of the biggest problems with most identity politics leftists is that they never grow up.

She’s so willing to listen to someone else’s opinions while still asserting her own and asking thoughtful questions. I loved this conversation so much
She's absolutely using her brain instead of her feelings. Not a dyed-in-the-wool democrat.
kitkat4274 makes me Believe she earned her way in UT.
In all of my years one thing I have noticed is that most people willing to listen and be thoughtful eventually are persuaded away from this progressive or leftist (whatever you want to call it) mentality at least to some measure. I did myself actually.
She's very impressive. If an admissions interview was part of her application process, I'm sure she aced that, too.
@@CynHicks same here just 3 years post school to realize it.
I find it interesting that she doesn’t consider her parents an immigrant success story....they are business owners, that is a hell of an accomplishment regardless of profit margin.
Especially with today's cost of living. Yeah, owning anything after having to build your fortune from scratch is impressive.
Sometimes i can’t even afford gas ⛽️
And regardless of immigration or citizenship status. I've been a paycheck to paycheck white boy sweating my nuts off more times than I care to recall.
I can't fault her in a lot of ways for feeling like that. She's a current college student who has been told probably most of her life that the true way to be "successful" is to have a degree and then some sort of white collar job. That isn't true at all, I would consider her parents a great success without any of that. I hope she takes her conversation with Steven to heart, she should be proud of her parents accomplishments.

Crowder's conversation with that girl honestly made me smile. He actually cares and wants to help people, unlike what these lunatics would make you believe

It instills so much self doubt and insecurity, who thought that AA was a good idea?

@Smiles and the Twisted MD You cant determine it exactly, but to be a valedictorian, get a scholarship to colleges, etc. you cant have a low iq. You cant find me the valedictorian of even a small HS with an iq less than 120. Also the SAT functions similarly to an iq test, so it's safe to say her iq is at minimum 125. There's massive amounts of statistical data on this, you can google the mean iq of people by degree, by university, etc. and draw your own conclusions.
Edit: If you noticed I didn't say her exact IQ, I ball parked a number you would need at minimum for that level of academic success.
She's not a leftist
She's just going with the flow at University.
Indoctrination flow?
I don't think it's intellectually honest to suggest someone isn't what they identify as. I, too, was liberal in college and am now libertarian. I definitely was liberal during the time and wouldn't want someone saying, "You were just going with the flow and were always semi-conersvative at heart." That's like saying someone is or isn't really Christian due to their ideals being a bit unique to the traditions values of other Christians. Due to this, it is much more cognitively expansive to take how people identify (particularly politically or religiously) seriously.

“Soft racism” is absolutely right. She couldn’t even say with any confidence that she had earned her spot, when in reality, she most likely did. That kind of psychological toll cannot be overlooked.
Cody Snell it’s sad that schools aren’t a meritocracy anymore. People are held back when they could’ve gotten in, and others who shouldn’t have gotten in are let in.
I was turned down in the past for a position with a Millwrights Union. I went to a trade school, Graduated second in my class, and had actually experience working in the field before I even finished school. When I spoke with a friend of mine who was in the Union , his father was also in the Union as a steward, and asked about my scores he stated that I had done very well on my test. When I asked why I was not brought into the apprentice program he explained that "this" year they had to hire a lot of minorities so I was passed up in an effort to diversify the work place. At the time I was OK with it as I believed that another maybe needed the job more. In hind site I think it is ridiculous and don't understand why you would pass up a qualified candidate because of the color of his/My skin. In reality I was not hired because I am white. I do hope that the man/woman who took my spot has done well for themselves and their families, if they ever had one. But they to should realize that they were given something because of the color of their skin. The exact thing that people of Color complain about: You get this because you are white.... Well you got this because you are ..... You can't call one thing racist while doing the same thing on the other side and call it justice. End Rant!

You likely have none and it is based off opinion rather than facts and experience. Did you watch this video or just come here to talk trash and push your ill minded and illiterate agenda?
@Christopher Miller5 I don't see anything that implies what you said it implies. Could you please show me.the part of his comment that shows he is implying that, people are hired more often for their skin color then they are denied?
@Christopher Miller5 yes I read that. But that's not what I was asking about. You said and I quote "you would say it happens more like this as opposed to the opposite people you refer to getting jobs based off soon color because you have an anecdotal example but you can't imply that this happens more versus people denied jobs for being black" which if I'm understanding this correctly means you think he's implying that black people get jobs solely because their black. But I don't see that in his response. So could you show me where he's implying that? Or how? Cause to me it just sounds like him Sharing a personal experience.

Well, considering the responses to this comment we know the types to follow Steven Crowder. I was quite humbled by his response, too! Typically, Crowder is a bit of a passive-aggressive twat.

I do agree with him being a passive aggressive twat, but I think he is just fighting fire with fire.
Also, what I tell all these sensitive cunts nowadays: “if you can’t handle the heat , stay outa the kitchen”
Not to mention, this new “sensitive boy” bullshit is the main reason these progressives are getting outa hand.
Most of these people are fighting for rights they already have. And a lot of men go along with it cuz they wanna bang em.
S c
I think you’re right in that victimization has become a major problem. However, I think in terms of expressing emotion generally, specifically sorrow, being seen as sensitive is a little preposterous. I’ve seen that historically people have always been as emotional as the average American today, if not held back by hiding it.
Also, I’d say the “sensitive boy” fad, as you’ve phrased it, is more of a media cover of your typical progressive. Same goes for your idiotic, gun wielding conservative. Though radicals are common, I think it’s blown out of proportion.
This girl will go far in life. She’s positive, confident, and shows a lot of introspective thought. She absolutely earned her spot. Also, she’s more charismatic than any other guest I’ve seen on these arguments.

I'm Korean. I had a 3.9 GPA in high school, scored in the top 1 percentile for the SATs, played on athletic teams, and was the president of 2 different clubs. I worked my butt off, but I didn't get into any ivy leagues, many other private schools, or even UCLA or UC Berkeley. People with lower qualifications got into better schools than me, even though I did not come from a privileged background, and it hurts to know that my race was an actual barrier to going to a school that I wanted. Even when I applied to law school, I feel like I was again rejected from all my top choices because of my race, despite my high academic marks and community involvement. I always applied for every scholarship every year in college and law school, especially for the "minority diversity applicant", but never received any grants, just loans. I will graduate in two years, drowning in debt from all the loans I took out to attend okay schools. I just hope that the law firms don't invoke affirmative action on me when they're hiring and go "sorry, we have lots of Asians at our firms, and we're looking for a 'diverse' hire".
I love you, bro. Keep it up, you can do it, you've been doing it.
Very well said my friend, very unfortunate to hear that. Your ethic will ensure you succeed regardless of any potential barriers.
I have the same story, I am asian and I graduated near the top of my class, with test scores in the top 3%, had a 4 average on my 9 AP tests, was a 4 year varsity athlete, president of 4 clubs one of which I started myself, did a lot of community outreach, and yet I was rejected and waitlisted for every prestigious school I applied to but two of my white male friends with similar applications were accepted to these universities. At my predominantly white high school, the top 5 in my class were asian and only one of us made it to a prestigious university while those two white boys and another black boy with very high test scores but almost no extracurriculars are where we all dreamed to be.
Luckily, the justice department is going after these colleges for us asian people starting with Yale :) It's unfortunate that affirmative action was there to stop you guys and I hope it will be illegal by the time I reach college as a fellow asian

Almost like affirmative action is brainwashing immigrants that they are not as good as others and are incapable of achieving things themselves so they shouldn't bother with their academic accomplishment but depend on their race.
this whole interview in a sense "does not count". she is am immigrant. i am a child of immigrants. i do not think we are better than established americans, but i have found from friends who were also first generation americans (bengali, french, greek, italian) that there is a different attitude about education, honoring the parents and loyalty to them, etc. sorry, she is very atypical of black americans. ethiopian and somali, in my personal experience, are WAY different in values and social mores than most urban/inner city black americans. she wasnt the idiot screaming at 55 seconds into the video.
@@jas22 exactly. The culture is different. The culture is holding people back. The culture is what needs to change.
There are many black people, whose families have been here for generations, that come from single mother households, who work hard and get into college. Their mothers imparted a sense of self responsibility and a drive to succeed that resulted in their success.

@@terrych6175 Exactly. It is sad that immigrants and minorities like her are not able to appreciate themselves and how big of a deal it is what they have done. When I used to grow up in India and went to graduate school in America, my mom told me that I could only compete with the West in one thing, which was education. She told me about the various opportunities present in the Western World and how if I studied extremely well, I could come to America and make something big out of myself(My dad was murdered because of gang activity, unfortunately). I graduated from IIT(the best college in India) in my hometown and got a masters degree at Sloan at MIT. I used to believe that if there was anything that this place looked at me for, it was my education. However, now people are seeing race and gender as a means to pick and choose. Not technically, but most conservatives support the mass incarceration of people who are caught with weed, and the communities that are most affected by such laws are black communities because those communities tend to be urban and therefore have heavier policing. It's like you can see the wheels in her head turning, as she realizes that she got in because she worked hard and was smart.
Totally
She cheapens herself thinking she got in because of race
the problem is that because there is an affirmative action system in place, she will always have that doubt. she comes across as a very intelligent young woman, and she deserves the credit that she got in because of her work ethic.
She’s definitely going to do well in life. I hope that she left feeling empowered, as she should.
Not sure she did get in because she worked hard and was smart. She thinks that is a possibility, but isn't convinced herself...but that story sure sounds better than the alternative.
This is the most civilized conversation I've seen on this show
Well there’s a guard with a gun behind the woman and a bodyguard behind Steven, but of course having a smart guest helps a lot
I think it's because Crowder saw an intelligent young woman and was making arguments that should boost her self esteem; basically saying "Hey, you are here not because of your race; you are here because of your accomplishments. You *deserve* to be here."
If he had gotten someone who *didn't* do their work and only got in through Affirmative Action, then this probably would've been a lot more heated.
Fewer white progressives, probably.
The change my minds are really good
Not gonna lie, that one almost made me choke up. Steven having to convince her that she was good enough and EARNED her spot, with THAT kind of work ethic was so heartbreaking. No doubt she earned that spot

The truth behind is not to overwhelmed university with Asian descent students. Just look at it... let say 20% each are allocated to american - asian, white, black/hispanic so that's 80%. PLUS international student, and majority of them are asian descent so thats another 20% of asian descent. Making the population of a university an asian majority. Affirmative action allows school to ensure that every "ethnicity" are all equal. So what happen between 20% of asian american quotas and 20% of asian international student. They are combined... which making it lesser for asian american to get in. Especially colleges prefer international as they pay more. So yeah.. its very discriminated to asian american.

I love that your biggest point was such a sweet compliment to the young lady: You didn't get this far because of or in spite of your race, you've come this far because you're amazing, regardless of race. This may be the best Change My Mind of the year.
“Less Jesus??” That was such an innocent and earnest question
I laughed so hard. Best response ever !!!
Brandon Gray same here, and you could tell Crowder was trying like hell not to laugh harder. Even when she thought of all Republicans as Bill O’ Reilly 😂 oh boy, good stuff.
Luke Farrugia College years are formative ones. It appears to me to be more intellectual curiosity than naivety or ignorance. Ignorance is an unwillingness to hear valid arguments that challenge your perspective. Anyways, it gives me hope that not all is lost at our academic institutions. Especially if Crowder, Shapiro, TPUSA keep up the red-pilling crusade.
When does she say this?
Luke Farrugia if you don't have knowledge about a subject then you shouldn't be argumentative because you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
That girl was about as informed as any other change my mind guest, just an average student at college, in other words, she essentially knows nothing.
BUT unlike the average change my mind guest, She was aware of her lack of knowledge and utilized the socratic method from time to time and allowed Crowder's information to come into her mind without necessarily accepting it until the information became indesputible.
What irritates viewers of Change My Mind isn't students with conviction, arguing crowder point by point, making his life harder, or any of that stuff. We love that. What we hate is the fact that they argue with conviction alongside flimsy arguments, logical fallacy, a refusal to even consider that they may just be wrong, and they always act in bad faith, not trusting Crowder's stats or definitions and often making up their own and lying just for what? To Try and win the argument? Simply put, they're terrible at arguing because they've never had their biases challenged, only reinforced. So they don't know how to handle it and revert to childish tactics mid argument because they don't know what the hell they're talking about AND worst of all, they think that arguing is some kind of battle where giving up ground is unacceptable and where winning at all costs is all that matters.
That's not the point of arguing and they don't know that. It's sad. Pathetic. And it's occurring at college where we were told that these are the smartest of people.
This is why we like this girl. Because she did none of that nonsense. She was thinking about what Crowder was saying and that's what you're supposed to do in an argument. I didn't say blindly accept what your opponent is saying, just to think about it and ask questions about it. Consider it, neither accept or reject it. That's what she did. That's why we like her.
I cannot even think of one other instance where a guest actually asked Crowder a question without it being a bs attempt at a "got ya" question that Crowder could spot from a mile away and already had the response canned and ready to go.
She had none of that. That's how she was even able to make Crowder genuinely laugh because her responses weren't university/diversity talking point lies. They were genuine as well.
;tldr unlike the average CMM guest, She was genuine, inquisitive, and acting in good faith and that's why we like her.

This young lady is great. She's actually listening rather than arguing. She's smart and it seems like she doesn't feel that she's owed anything. Very good conversation!
But the point isn't to 'listen', it's to engage, and she did that, but rather than have an unbending stance on how she thought, like many of his guests, she allowed for new ideas to be considered. I think it's important to distinguish that difference because listening isn't the opposite of arguing, nor is one right or wrong. Arguing is fine when it's in the quest for truth, but she never really took on the Left's side so she did more listening just because she didn't have a strong opposing stance. Ideally, the Left and Right would each have strong ideas that both sides could sit, listen and debate about, with the understanding that we could change one another's thinking with a strong, well founded argument.
I agree. She is the best person Steven has interviewed in my opinion
This young lady doubting herself is actually so sad. I hope she draws confidence from this interview, because you did a great job in empowering her.
