How to deal with negatives in Cheat Engine |ETS2|

This is a tutorial on how to deal with negative values in cheat engine v6.2 (Should work the same with other versions). In this particular case we are looking at negative amount of money in Euro Truck Simulator 2. This will most likely work with other games/software as well ;)

For anybody watching this 10 years later (which is crazy) - I created it back then with annotated instructions which don't seem to be a thing anymore on UA-cam, so you're missing most of the instructions. Glad some still find it useful though 😅

yeah I looked at the same thing and it worked out but took a lot of time and effort so I went to the settings to see if something could be done about it and bingo! the CE can compute the logarithm for negatives instead of you actually having to do it, you just got to tick one box ;-) And then I used my basic knowledge/experience of programming to figure out that you need 8 byte value type ;)

I searched in CE forums and found that you can do hard math and deduct 4 million ( or was it billion ? ) something from your value, e.g. 4xxxxxx - (how much money u want) = the value u need to write in CE to get that amount, it was supposed to fix the negative value. but i tried new stuff and made it wrong, making me instead of having a -20k minus, -4 million something minus in the bank. hahaha... thx for the tutorial again..!
Also I used 4byte not 8 scan...

Just in case someone else got this problem, CE is a RAM editing software and RAM only holds running processes. In other words you have to have the game running(minimized) in order to change these values ;)

You have to put a negative sing - in front of the value, eg. -2300

Yeah, but change the value type from "4 bytes" to "float" before scanning ;) Because byte values are only integers. For decimals use either "double" or "float" type of values.

I have not discovered such, yet. I'll let you know if I do ;) and with regards to the speed limit, 90km/h is a realistic value as modern european truck engines are limited to only increase torque when the truck is moving below 90km/h for safety, environment and economics ;)

Make sure you did all the steps correctly, that is "Show Values as if they are signed" checked, value type set as "8 Bytes" and you entered a minus sign in front of the value entered, so copy and paste this sign to make sure it's right: -

mods? The truck in the game is just a maxed out scania with the best paint job you can get at a high xp level in a normal service shop. The stats on top of the video can be turned on by writing "g_minicon 1" in the console ;) SO I USED NO MODS other than editing some numbers with Cheat Engine ;)

@@warriorwake6334 same happened to me, because you already change the number that appear in your screen of the game but if not the real number anymore. So you have to put unknown initial number and then keep losing money by crushing for example and put decrease value and search and repeat until you came up with your real money and then changed
