    Just replaced the lower control arms and outer tie rods on my car this past weekend. Wasn't hard to do at all...dunno why I was always so hesitant to do work like this myself

    did not show critical part how to clear the single bolt that hits either the AC compressor or the transaxle pan on the other side...

    Lol what a lie my control arm bolt hit the AC on the passenger side. Had to Jack up the moto.
    Got the 2 bolts lightly through but now my bolt through the bushing won’t thread in…. This is being a nightmare!
    How is it a bigger pain to put in than take off lol

    Customer goes in for alignment and end up billed with new ball joint & control arm? Seems very hard to sell if customer don't know you and don't trust you. Anyway very good point, hope mine last as long as it can.

      It was boss man's friend, and the rear bushing were starting to tear.

      I went in for an alignment on my car, but they couldn't align the fronts due to a center link that needed to be replaced. They showed me the issue and the excessive play, pretty convincing if done that way. They let me order my own parts and bring them in 2 weeks later for install and complete the alignment.

      Before I tell someone we're going to align a vehicle I state that we'll check the suspension and tires. If the suspension has play and/or tires are worn then I can't guarantee a good alignment. I'll call them to state what's wrong and whether or not they want to fix it. Worst case they leave with paying an inspection fee. It's that simple.

    What an absolutely clean shop. I'm extremely impressed. What's on the back wall around 1:37? You guys stock parts?

    • @theoffroadingmechanic
      @theoffroadingmechanic  2 роки тому +1

      The wall on the opposite side is fully stocked with Dobinson, Bilstein, Old Man Emu, Terrain Tamer suspension parts (shocks, springs, upper control arms, panhard bars, trailing arms, leaf springs etc) the wall beside the bay I'm working on is filled with Toyota OEM stuff drive shafts ball joints axle bearings kits seal kits all the small OEM Toyota parts. And the wall that goes to our front show room is our Costco wall for our snacks air fryer microwave and stuff for when we host BBQs.

      @@theoffroadingmechanic That's amazing. Would you be able to do a full tour of the place whenever you can. Also do you guys buy directly from the manufacturer for those parts or do you through a distributor?

      @@mikef4004 we get direct from dobinson but not the others yet.

    Recently had a lower control arm replaced like this on my 2012 Mazda 5. Now the car makes a knocking or rhythmic scraping sound when I turn wheel to right. Mechanic says rust on CV Axle? Did not make this sound before. Just had loose lower control arm like shown on this video. It does not appear you had to touch the CV Axle to make this repair. Any thoughts about why I am getting this noise when turning right? Control arm was replaced on driver side.

      Are you stationary or moving when turning to the right? Did they happen to bend the backing plate slightly just enough to catch a rust spot.
