I'm a fan of the imperfection and flaws. Very human. Compared to the "perfect prodigy who can do no wrong Malfurion". Even though his story jumbles around from Warcraft 3, to BC, to Legion. Legion did a nice service to his story and WoW in general. Illidan is still an overall iconic face of the franchise, up there with Arthas.
@@Athelarius Agreed, I share similar opinion with you. Also I can not help but dislike the Malfurion and Tyrande for their behaviour towards Illidan throughout the story, especially Legion. Illidan might not always been fully a good guy, but he is a man determined for his cause, no matter what it would cost to him and the amount of pain he has to endure along his journey. That what makes his character special and unique in my opinion. Sacrificing his life and needs for the greater good, unlike Tyrande and Malfurion who are lacking empathy and have excessive distrust towards Illidan. Best example to this is their monologue after they hear Illidan's last speech to say goodbye and make peace with them, truly pathetic responses for both given their age. Maybe one day he will return from Pantheon, who knows.
Imagine, betrayed, humiliated, hated for something you've done good for them, how painful that is Illidan was never a bad guy in the beginning, only his actions is somewhat bad but not his cause

Probably one of the most iconic, lingering quotes to come out of Legion. Also like "Sometimes, the hand of fate, must be forced." Great throwback to Warcraft 3!
I'm more of a fan of “You wished to know the difference between the demons and us. They will stop at nothing to destroy our world. And we will sacrifise everything to save it.”
@Kaboom Baby I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm of the belief that Blizzard wasn't necessarily ready to tackle the writing/dialogue for the complicated nature of the trio of Illidan, Malfurion, and Tyrande. It was for the most part skipped over in the whole expansion. It was tough to actually fathom that at first, but it's ok. Overall it was a fantastic expansion, that was just a small complaint. Just leaves the situation a little bitter knowing the people closest in his life never understood or appreciated the positives he really brought to the table. Doesn't matter..........Valen ended up being twice the brother than Malfurion ever was.
From my understanding of Illidans lore is this. He is born into the world of Azeroth, people name him the one who is blessed by the goddess or god and has been gifted golden eyes. He is destined from birth to bring down the legion, while being rejected and betrayed by his own people, loosing the one he loves to his own brother and be seen as an enemy from her prospective. He dedicates his life to cleanse the evil that falls upon Azeroth even if that meant giving up his mortal body. He is hunted and he is seen as an evil all the way to the end, he even has his own fanatic enemy that will stop at nothing to stop him. Yet despite all this, giving away his mortality, letting go of his loved one, seen as a betrayer by his own people, chased and imprisoned for thousands of years, helping wherever he can but still be seen as an enemy. He still gave his life to cleanse the Legion and save Azeroth from it. The lesson from this is the following. 'Not all heroes are dressed in fancy costumes and capes, not all heroes follow the rules ..some must do what others cannot, they must be seen as evil to be able to accomplish victory' Illidan is really a hero that beats heroes.
Well, Illidan DID give the Demon Soul to Sargeras, allowing him entry to azeroth. I think selling your planet out to the burning legion to gain power is a legitimate reason to be called betrayer.
Not even remotely accurate. Gold eyes were a rare trait. Even Azshara had them. It just meant to the elves that you were special. Illidan was selfish. Everything he ever did was for himself. He first wanted power. Then he wanted to free himself from the legion so aided them and also to impress Tyrande at the same time. Then he wanted revenge on the legion. Nothing he ever did was for anyone other than himself. Even when he claimed it was for tyrande it was his desire for her. Add in the completely unnecessary atrocities and murders he committed like enslaving the netherwing dragons and killing the wardens in the tomb and he can’t claim any sort of care for the world. He talks of sacrifice but he never sacrificed anything only forced others to sacrifice
*Illidan absorving fel magic* Malfurion and Tyrande: YOU ARE BANNED FOR EVER *My warlock summoning an infernal and a doom guard right in from of them in Darnassus* Malfurion and Tyrande: Hello fellow alliance mate
"There can be no Chosen One. Only we can save ourselves." There will be no hero that could save everyone, unless everyone is united they can be triumph. Man I love Illidan so much
That's what WoW shoulda been about, isn't it? Instead of treating the player like the "champion / chosen one", we shoulda been just one part of a whole that succeeds by working together
I like how malfurion was telling Illidan he knows nothing of sacrifice, when in the end its the other way around. Also the fact that murlocs are on Illidan's side is great
Malfurion: >Sleeps entity and act shock when the legion invades once waken. >Beg for help from dead ancestors, orcs and humans. >Cries about Illidan having more power than him. Illidan: >Plays the legion >Saved the forest >Killed high demon lords >Created his own legion to take the fight to the legion world. >Went toe to toe with the Lich king >Created his own race >Saved azorath and went to fight a corrupt titan for centuries. I say Illidan has more balls than his brother and it’s shows.
Illidan is more of a night elf than the others claim to be. Fuck Tyrande and Malfurion. If Tyrande had chosen Illidan, she'd be much less of a hypocrite and bitch.
Not sure noble is the right word to describe him, but misunderstood, certainly. He's an anti-hero, who sought power, no matter the cost. Though in the end, he did make the ultimate sacrifice, for the sake of Azeroth.
"She has become vengeance itself, bound forever to the hunt. I only pray that in her zeal, she doesn't cause even more havoc than Illidan." Malfurion says this of Maiev, but how much you wanna bet at some point the same will be said of Tyrande (post BfA).
Thanks god they brought Illidan back and fixed that clusterfuck of story that TBC was. I hate bringing dead characters back, but Illidan, Kael'Thas and Vol'Jin deaths were so bad and useless considering the importance they had.
Seeing that last streak of light as the pantheon and Illidan disappear into the Cosmos is the saddest thing in existence, no joy can ever undo the sadnes of seeing Azeroths greatest hero give the final sacrifice, May you hunt until the final days Stormrage
Judging how crazy and fanatical Yrel has become, I'd say probably something along those lines. He definitely made the right choice blowing that chandelier to bits.
Probably would've seen a lightforged Illidan come through. Xe'ra managed to start healing his scars, curious to see if the horns and wings would've stayed.
@@jpch8814 Im talking about burning legion, srry if didnt specify and in WC3 in TFT kil'jaeden said illidan sealed The burning legion Fate after he consumed the Gul'dan Skull, how does that sound to you?
I'd say tied with Arthas, but both are iconic faces of the franchise. I feel if WoTLK was done in modern times with modern graphics and cinematics, Arthas would be even more popular. The fact Sylvanas rips the Helm of Damnation and makes Bolvar bend over also hurts the legacy of the Lich King.
Yeah when Illidan sacrificed something he was seen as a demon, when he did all he could to fight and stop the Burning Legion and Sargeras, he was "using the wrong methods" and now we have Tyrande who is ok with doing whatever she wants if it means "Revenge" towards Sylvannas even if it means separating the night elves from the alliance .
Because illidan consumed Gul'dan Skull they could defeat the Burning Legion in WC3, it was because of Illidan that Tyrande lived after she got surrounded by the Undead, and also was Because of illidan they defeated the Burning Legion again in WoW, but they still see him as the betrayer....
Poor Ilidan, he replaced love with hate, happiness with sadness, sacrificed his soul for power to defended Azeroth from extermination from the burning legion and literally walked to his death with a smile in the end.
Illidan: *pours his heart and soul into those messages to Malfurian and Tyrande because at the end of the day he truly loved both of them and wanted them to know that because he doesn’t think he’ll ever get the chance to see them again…* Malfurian and Tyrande: Ugh fine…
Got me to cry at the end. Only ever happened 3 times when watching stories like this... Quite a feat. One only Illidan could achieve... It saddens me to know that this universe is now in decay at the hands of those pigs, that this game we've grown to love is slowly dying... I'm glad good memories were made, so that we can still hold something dear, to the name World of Warcraft.
Very nice and good video. A reason most of people came back to game, is when Legion were announced/heard about it. Because of Illidan's return! Even BFA will never replace Legion and Illidan. We lost Tirion Fordring, King Varian, Vol'Jin, and at least Gul'dan went killed off. We have seen Suramar, Argus, we faced Kil'Jeaden again. Somehow it reminds to play back in the Burning Crusade. For those who never played during that, will have a experience for what is all about. That's why Legion has became the best expansion in the history. But I hope Illidan returns in Shadowlands.
though not a troll player i always thought Vol'jin would made the perfect warchief, but then again seeing how most of them eather went crazy with the power, it kinda shocked me to learn that vol' jin died in the frist week of Legion launch. Lore was what kinda got me in to Wow but i guess its ture what they say a bout good leaders, they don't last very long.
@@SunderDispare I always liked Vol'Jin just based on his look/attitude, before knowing his lore. What made me fall in love with him was during MoP, he told Garrosh (paraphrased) "I'll be waiting and watching as your own people turn against you, and when they do, I'll be there with a dagger in your side". Absolute unit. Telling his own Warchief how he's going to go about assassinating him. And then Thrall propped him up to be Warchief, and he got absolutely bodied by some nobody, before he could accomplish much of anything. Cherry on top, he was manipulated into making Sylvanas Warchief, which... Yeah. Very sad.
not gonna lie the only thing I could think of was clicking on demon hunter NPCs and getting the "I've sacrificed EVERYTHING 😤...what have YOU 😒 given?!"
well, neither of them had their horns/antlers at birth. Illidan got his through demon blood, and Malfurion got his from Cenarious after druid school or whatever it is
In terms of the games I've been a Hordie since the original Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. In real life I am strongly opposed to war as anything but the very last resort even when it *seems* like it would be just. Like Saddam was obviously evil, but was it really better to fuel the rise of ISIS? And with that said, Tyrande makes perfect sense. Sylvanas reached Burning Legion levels of evil in Legion and BfA. And the Horde followed not through mind-control or trickery, but simply because refusal to bow to a tyrant apparently never came to mind. Even Baine Bloodhoof did little more than weakly protest as the night elves and their ancestral home burned for no reason other than Sylvanas claiming the Alliance might one day attack The Horde. Saurfang, Baine, they all went along with it, following orders reluctantly but still following them. People like Rexxar, who once left the Horde as he saw it had descended into dishonor, Garona, who left it as she came to recognize it's evil, and Lilian Voss who was never part of the Horde and hated Sylvanas as much as Sylvanas hated Arthas. They all decided to join back up. And they all. Followed. Orders. There is no in-universe reason for Tyrande or any of the night elves to forgive the Horde because they eventually turned on their warchief after the fact. AGAIN. The way the Horde has been written. There are crimes where no amount of regret or apologies are enough. The Horde, through the writing from around Cataclysm and onwards have shown that every time they overthrow tyranny it will take at most a few years before they go back to murdering babies and pissing in the world's collective cereal for no greater reasons than greed or paranoia. In terms of the writing, the Horde is a rabid beast needing to be caged, a maddened death-cult needing to be dismantled. I really wish this wasn't how the Horde was written and I don't know why they decided to throw away all the development the Horde ever got time and time again, but I do not think it's fair to paint Tyrande as a war-monger. Tyrande makes an excellent point. Sylvanas is now as great a threat as Arthas ever was, and there's no reason to believe that *this* time the Horde has truly reformed when every previous reformation has been followed by progressively more horrifying war crimes. Tyrande and Malfurion should've shown the Horde the fury of ten thousand years and ground them into the dirt. Instead they got rekt by the corpse of a pretty good human archer with plot armor. I wish people would stop defending this type of writing that's 100% setup and 0% payoff. Those dangling plot threads? They're never gonna get resolved. It's another Lost, another Sherlock, another GoT. There is no super clever end that this is all building towards. It's just introducing new and interesting stuff and when asked where all that stuff went in the next installment of the story they simply say "Well, it's not part of the story we want to tell." and pulls every abandoned plotline into Oblivion like actual Void Lords. TL;DR: Tyrande and Greymane are the only two people making any kind of sense.
@@thechadtc7421 You mean like how everything was taken from Sylvanas? She lost everything, her home, her people, her identity, and in some ways her sisters as they did next to nothing to help her. And look how she turned out. Tyrande needs to find herself again quickly, or she is next in line of going from a once great and caring leader, to a rage fueled monster.
@@HellaGust Tyrande and Greymane are driven by revenge and are clearly willing to do just about anything to get it. Just like Sylvanas, who for the longest time was driven by her need for revenge Against Arthas, and even Maiev who was driven by her need to get revenge against Illidan. But the thing with revenge is that there is always one inevitable fact: There is no satisfaction in revenge, even if they get it, it will either leave them empty, or push them to continue down a dark path until they become the very monsters they swore to destroy. Maiev got lucky and only felt empty after her revenge, but managed to find a new purpose, but Sylvanas ended up becoming an even worse monster Arthas ever was.
@@venomrulesall It's different. When someone takes something from you, or otherwise puts you in severe emotional stress, It's natural for one to lose one's reason. In my country it may even acquit you of committing a crime, for instance: If you see someone killing your son, and you kill the guy that did it, you may be acquitted since society can't demand that you did otherwise, because there's severe emotional stress involved, and a connection between that stress and the victim. However, if someone kill's your son, and you, years later kill someone else's son, there's no connection between the stress and the victim, and you had the time to calm your nerves, so, either you're guilty, or you're insane, and will therefore be condemned. Same idea here with Sylvanas and Tyrande. Tyrande didn't want peace with the people that took her home from her, may not have been the wisest choice, but we can't ask her to sign a peace treaty with those who burned her home. Now, Sylvanas may have burned Teldrassil as a consequence of her emotional trauma, but nor the Night Elves, nor the alliance was to blame for it, so, it's not vengeance, it's a moral deviation, and therefore, she's a cunt, and miles from vengeful Tyrande.
Illidan is my favorite character in WoW. A perfect story filled with chaos, love, hatred etc.. I only wish that the storytellers would make an interactions between him, malfurian and Tyrande in person in Legion when he returned, not just in the message he left for the both of them after he remained to keep guard over Sargeras Prison. If only Malfurion and Tyrande realized why he did all this, it was to save Azeroth from the legion. It is sad that they looked passed all this when they surely knew that the vast majority of their players see Illidan as their favorite character in the game.
Illidan is so noble, relied on no one but himself, denied his destiny because it is his to create, sacrificed everything for the sake of what he believe is right and will continue to defend his homeland against the forces that tries to take it from him, he's simply one of the best characters in game
You really did him a great amount of justice with these videos, well done buddy, well done indeed What I love most about the final scene and hate is the fact that I actually have to say farewell to Illidan, it's not an easy thing to do since he is one of my childhood heroes while growing up and I greatly sympathized with him, he sacrificed so much and more than any could fathom, after all the pain, torment and suffering and enduring it all he finally gets to shine and have his place in the spotlight and truly he owns that moment, I will truly miss him, but this a fitting end of a true hero! But the look on his face 1:09:34 is that look I get when I am the tank and know that I got this shit, he just wants this motherfucker for himself 1v1, farewell old friend and kick his ass! "I AM NOT THE ONE TRAPPED HERE WITH YOU, YOU ARE TRAPPED IN HERE WITH ME!"
Illidan remains as one of the ICONS of the Warcraft franchise, up there with Arthas. This tribute is truly dedicated to that legacy, especially after TBC did him, Kael and Vashj a bit dirty. Would've loved to see what Illidan thought about Arthas' fate after KJ had originally ordered him to dispatch the Lich King.
Illidan: Quick to act, prone to anger and violence, lone wolf, yet develops into an extremely capable and charismatic leader that ultimately proves himself to be the ultimate altruist through his actions and his sheer willpower alone, LITERALLY sacrificing himself to defeat evil forever. Malfurion: Pacifistic extremist that is obsessed with putting a saintly and altruistic visage in front of the eyes of his people, yet completely fails to judge his brother's character or motives justly, LITERALLY twice condemning an innocent man, also proven to be a pathetic, weak-minded, extremely incapable leader that almost dooms ALL others due to complete and utter inaction, ignorance and lack of vision. Moral of the story: The End Justifies The Means
Illidan was never innocent. He killed mage companion before he knew much of the Legion forces, he tried to make a new Well by his own judgement to taste more power....etc. He is just one more idiot Elf, just like many others. His only goal was actually to best everyone he could by siphoning powers, just like Sylvanas does now. In truth, for a creature of a few thousands years, he is nothing on his own without stolen powers. He was even less than Arthas and compared to Jaina, also a human he is a kid (simply because Jaina actually has those powers without stealing, kissing demon asses, etc).
Daniel Andrews okay, but like, Illidan wasn’t going to let his home be destroyed by the Burning Legion. He knew he wasn’t strong enough to beat them, so he had to take on demonic powers. He wasn’t really idiotic; he was just fed up with everyone around him not doing anything while the BL destroyed everything. His goal wasn’t only to get stronger, but to become strong enough to hold his own against Sargeras and protect those he cared about from him.
@@JohnNawson Exactly, Illidan is an anti-hero, not a hero. Anti-heroes do questionable stuff, sometimes borderline evil, but in order to serve the greater good indirectly. Anti-heroes often experience great personal loss, tragedy and sacrifice, coming to the conclusion that in order to protect your allies, you must also harm your enemies. They are a literal living example of the saying: "Fighting fire with fire." Illidan for example has many similarities with another great anti-hero in gaming, the vampire Kain, from the Legacy of Kain / Blood Omen series. Kain is a human-turned-vampire, who in the first game in the series, Blood Omen, struggles to get used to his new vampiric life, overcoming villains that were once the great protectors of humanity, but are now corrupted aristocrats and mages. In the second game, Soul Reaver, Kain is acting outright evil, having turned into a villainous vampire emperor that oppresses humanity, while his vampiric offspring have degenerated into monsters which he is unable to control. Yet, in the third game onwards, Soul Reaver 2, Kain starts revealing his motives for causing all the carnage around him, which, regarding the circumstances, do not sound so evil after all. In the 5th and final game, Defiance, Kain is revealed to be an altruistic, noble, and very brave individual, for his choices and his personal sacrifices have led to his actual redemption and that of the world. (I'm going to exclude Blood Omen 2, the 4th game, due to it taking place in an alternate timeline that is now obsolete due to the events of Soul Reaver 2.)
I can only say one thing from this video: MAJESTIC. Nice edit, nice history explained, perfect timeline. What a great job. Thank you so much for putting all this together

Once the 45th cgi rendition of sylvanas is complete we may be blessed with such a cinematic. Still waiting for night elves to make it into cgi BFA style. No more sad orcs. Night elves have a beautiful design and aesthetic and they often get the backburner.
I would agree were it not for the fact that the outcome of that fight was a joke. I get the plot armor playing a role for the sake of prolonging the story, but in reality there is no way in hell that Arthas, not even truly merged with the lich king, could beat Illidan in a 1v1.
Hiya Folks! This is a project I’ve been working on for many months and glad to finally wrap it up. With Warcraft 3: Reforged, I had the other half of Illidan’s backstory to go with his story in Legion. My only complaint in Legion is I would’ve loved to see a cinematic of Illidan during the War of the Ancients, or when he is actually imprisoned for 10k years. They kinda skip from the moment Illidan is blinded, to the Black Temple events. Rest follows his story from birth, to demon hunter, to edgy one-liner elf! P.S. The intro is a sort of Saturday Morning Cartoon Intro style I made a few years back and I finally get to use it. Yay. Take Care for Now~!
I'm quite happy that my childhood favorite Illidan was such an anti-hero. Despite all the treatment he gets. He pushes forward for his goals and his justice. I never knew his character, his lore, or anyone else's back then. I was a kid who just happened to saw Warcraft 3 FT on the pc and decided try it. Illidan was the only character piqued my interest due to his badass design, and that because I was a kid. I never understood the lore or anything else beside Illidan being rejected by his own people. I wonder if there's a way for me to catch up with all these. I'm really interested in the lore of WoW.
Ah we are the same except I love arthas. U should play wow to learn more about the lore I guarantee u u will be blown away by how immersive the game is

I always feel that way. Illidan had been too easy on Maiev and Maiev was too eager to go after Illidan. More like Illidan was all about Tyrande and Maiev was jealous.
@@raspulsel1400 Well, Maiev have her reason. You have to keep in mind that her original hate for Illidan was because he almost killed, Jarod, her only surviving family member after War of the Ancient. Then he killed Nisha, who after Jarod disappearance, Maiev saw as a sister, and her other Warden who she was very close with. The death of her warden is also why she hate Tyrande, because Tyrande killed her warden too. Prior to Blizzard retcon to most of Warcraft darker story. Been a long time but if i'm remembering correctly in the book WolfHeart we find out through Maiev conversation with Tyrande that when she was Illidan prisoner; Illidan try everything to torture her in order to break her as repayment for the torment she cause him when he was her prisoner. Maiev took everything like a champ and Illidan was running out of torture method, so it was implied that he raped her instead, and that got her. The rape was never outright said, but was implied to happen, and after hearing this; Tyrande allowed Maiev back into Night Elf society despite their bad blood. This obviously got retconned like many of the darker aspect in WOW lore. Like how Garona Halforcen birth was due to a Orcs raping human women during their invasion into Azeroth before it was changed to her being created through magic. Note: I think they changed Garona origin back to it's darker origin of rape, but her mother is now a drenei instead. The rape of Vindicator Maraad sister to be exact.
@@augustinboulard9722 Imagine seeing the woman of your dreams show up after ten thousand years (though from Illidan’s point of view he has no idea how long he’s been imprisoned) in a cell that’s 9 ft by 9 ft with no darkness, no food or drink though his magic keeps him sustained with minimal contact from your hated enemy’s acolytes and the first thing that she says to you after you profess your heart to her is that the legion has returned and that the people whom you sacrificed everything for need you and you realize that all she sees you as is a weapon that was shelved until their enemy returned. All his choices were to help his world get rid of legion , the methods he used to gain power because without it , he was powerless against the legion. Yes , it might have had damage but he did a lot more damage to the legion than anyone else. It was his destiny to fight against the legion.
Beautiful piece of work. I just wish you could use audio from original W3. Voiceacting from Reforged is just... atrocious. It just shows how far the mighty have fallen.
If I can make a request: You've done a beautiful job with intermixing/editing "Arthas, my Son" and "Acherus: The Ebon Hold" into one track that plays during Arthas and Illidan's first meeting (I believe you also used it during Arthas's final confrontation with Uther).
'Not all heroes are dressed in fancy costumes and capes, not all heroes follow the rules ..some must do what others cannot, they must be seen as evil to be able to accomplish victory'
Illidan is really a hero that beats heroes.
Illidan = Itachi

Amazing story for the most missunderstood character in Wacraft Universe, yet the greatest and most noble one.
Arthas and Illidan both have amazing stories.
Not sure noble is the right word to describe him, but misunderstood, certainly. He's an anti-hero, who sought power, no matter the cost. Though in the end, he did make the ultimate sacrifice, for the sake of Azeroth.

I doubt he will return so soon but I am 100% sure we will see him again one day
though not a troll player i always thought Vol'jin would made the perfect warchief, but then again seeing how most of them eather went crazy with the power, it kinda shocked me to learn that vol' jin died in the frist week of Legion launch. Illidan: You have always embodied the best of Azeroth, Tyrande
Tyrande: I wiLL nOt sIgN ThiS tReaTy UnLeSs iTs iS WRiTten wITh tHe BaNsHee'S BLOOD
Man, Sylvanas BURNED TELDRASSIL, I’t may not be the wisest choice, but can we ask someone to make wise choices when so much has been taken from them?

You really did him a great amount of justice with these videos, well done buddy, well done indeed
What I love most about the final scene and hate is the fact that I actually have to say farewell to Illidan, it's not an easy thing to do since he is one of my childhood heroes while growing up and I greatly sympathized with him, he sacrificed so much and more than any could fathom, after all the pain, torment and suffering and enduring it all he finally gets to shine and have his place in the spotlight and truly he owns that moment,
I will truly miss him, but this a fitting end of a true hero!

Illidan:
Quick to act, prone to anger and violence, lone wolf, yet develops into an extremely capable and charismatic leader that ultimately proves himself to be the ultimate altruist through his actions and his sheer willpower alone, LITERALLY sacrificing himself to defeat evil forever.
Malfurion:
Pacifistic extremist that is obsessed with putting a saintly and altruistic visage in front of the eyes of his people, yet completely fails to judge his brother's character or motives justly, LITERALLY twice condemning an innocent man, also proven to be a pathetic, weak-minded, extremely incapable leader that almost dooms ALL others due to complete and utter inaction, ignorance and lack of vision.
Moral of the story:
The End Justifies The Means
calling Illidan ''innocent'' LMAO
Cause elves are too up their own asses to get off their high horses. Illidan is the exception

Exactly, Illidan is an anti-hero, not a hero. Anti-heroes do questionable stuff, sometimes borderline evil,
but in order to serve the greater good indirectly. Anti-heroes often experience great personal loss, tragedy and sacrifice,
coming to the conclusion that in order to protect your allies, you must also harm your enemies.
They are a literal living example of the saying: "Fighting fire with fire."
Illidan for example has many similarities with another great anti-hero in gaming, the vampire Kain, from the Legacy of Kain / Blood Omen series.
Kain is a human-turned-vampire, who in the first game in the series, Blood Omen, struggles to get used to his new vampiric life,
overcoming villains that were once the great protectors of humanity, but are now corrupted aristocrats and mages.

@@itokosenshu925 still there are 10k yeare ia not little even for an immortal 10k years in a chage in full out boredoom
Absolutely amazing! Illidan is my favorite char in wow! He truly learned about the sacrifices to save Azeroth!
The seed of blizzard’s franchise. By far the greatest character and story ever to have been developed.
Lichy boi is pretty close
Illidan is my favorite character in WoW's lore. This video did him great justice!
Illidan: *Actually tells us he has 3 messages*
Me: iS iT goNnA bE fOR hIs ILlIDarI?
Illidan: Did you actually think-
Maiev
@@idhamfariz4132 They spent last 10 000, even if they hated eachothers company, it would be rude not to send a goodbuye letter.
*"MY DESTINY IS MY OWN!!!"*
WoW is just so good at making epic scenes
Tyrande,Malfurion, and Illidan are my favorites ! love that thumbnail !
Blizz have pumped some serious lore & character development into Illidan... I doubt we have seen the last of him, he will be back
I have a feeling something will happen to malfurion, which will make tyrande go ballistic, and illidan will return, and make her his bitch, as it should be.
The most misunderstood character in the entire WoW universe and forever the best of them all for me.
I love the integration of the music relevant to the moments. Like Illidan’s Theme and the music from the Black Temple. Very well done.
I've given you an angry upvote! This should have come out much earlier in our lockdown time. So GOOD!
Illidan Stormrage...one of the most powerful, focused and determined HERO in fiction.
As somebody who really understands Illidan, when he stayed at The Seat of the Pantheon, Velen and I did the same
I love the cutscene with Gul'dan. I love how they tied up Warlords of Dreanor at that moment.
That intro sequence is awesome dude, well done
Thank ye kindly! It was my attempt at a "Saturday Morning Cartoon" style intro for Legion.
One of the best charecters in wow with one if the coolest voice actors around. Match made in heaven
Dang Illidan and Maiev should just be a thing you know?
they both cray cray
@@igot2remember Thanks for the explanation, Sherlock
Man watching this made me miss how good these games were / used to be. GGs
Tyrande's scene of freeing Illidan hits even harder after reading his book by William King and seeing how he reacted to why Tyrande freed him.
How did he react?
@@augustinboulard9722 Imagine seeing the woman of your dreams show up after ten thousand years (though from Illidan’s point of view he has no idea how long he’s been imprisoned) in a cell that’s 9 ft by 9 ft with no darkness, no food or drink though his magic keeps him sustained with minimal contact from your hated enemy’s acolytes and the first thing that she says to you after you profess your heart to her is that the legion has returned and that the people whom you sacrificed everything for need you and you realize that all she sees you as is a weapon that was shelved until their enemy returned. Man felt so angry and betrayed he had that little scene where he blew out his cell bars.
@@ethrsag735 yeah i figured he would be pissed, its a shame the cinematic doesnt convey his anger a bit more thought
Thanks for your response :p
His character is embodiment of "Road to hell is paved with good intentions". Great Character.
To walk this path, requires sacrifice Illidan... Something you have yet to understand.
i think he knew what it was by the end of this all.
A man shows love through sacrifice.
On time for my friend Illidan.
He sacrificed everything. What have you GIVEN!?
My whole time playing this game + since 2009 + I grew with it _my childhood_ (11-22 years old) till now or more...
There is no warcraft without the best Stormrage !!! Illidan is the best there is
People sayin Illidan was never good and just evil, forget he literally sacrificed himself and his soul just to save his people.
17:35 your drip stat has increased by 100 points you may now be considered a favorite character form looks alone
Wish their was a counter for every time he said “brother”
Illidan is the reason i fell in love with the warcraft universe after playing warcraft 3, right then i knew this character was going to be awesome !
Thank you so much for this great work!
Coming back to this has really put into perspective that this was our last great xpac...
Always glad to see people coming back over the years! This was a dearly beloved tribute to one of the icons of Warcraft, up there with Arthas I'd say. And always miss Legion, and one of the best expansions after what happened with WoD.
I am a true Horde player although I am a big fan of Illidan and the Lore behind him
Illidan's allegiance is to himself
I love his redemption story, I know a lot of people have issues with his retconned story but it makes you think about his life and if you or I were in the same situation we’d probs do the same
Never had the pleasure to fight illidan. He looks so cool lol
The Final Words of illidan was heartfelt to his brother!
Thank you for bringing this whole story to us!
He's literally The Batman of the WOW universe.
If I can make a request: You've done a beautiful job with intermixing/editing "Arthas, my Son" and "Acherus: The Ebon Hold" into one track that plays during Arthas and Illidan's first meeting (I believe you also used it during Arthas's final confrontation with Uther). Would you be able to make it available for us to listen to, similar to your remix of Anduin's theme?
