"Use Vector erase instead of erasing all those lines individually!" Me, who had just finished erasing a bunch of annoying lines individually: *Record scratch*

"I've been drawing these comics for a billion years now." 😂 This was a tutorial video unlike any I've ever seen, and I can genuinely say I wish all tutorial videos flowed like this. This was such a useful, easy to follow, and entertaining video. Ten out of ten. NO. ELEVEN OUT OF TEN.
CSP is a lot cheaper than Photoshop and doesn't use subscription pricing. Though CSP is not as powerful with rendering effects, It does have a lot of comic-specific tools that Photoshop does not (speech bubbles and panel frames, for instance). Give the free trial a shot! 🙂
Vector layers was literally a game changer for me. Completely changed the way I draw in CSP. And no drawing app has them that work nearly as well. That I know of anyways.
Effing hell. You just blew my mind, sir. Vector lines seem to fix all of the problems I've had drawing since I started dabbing on digital art. I can't believe I never even tried to used them. You've earned yourself a subscriber.
Vector layers saved my life when I started drawing seriously. I opened this video expecting to hear them mentioned and started giggling when they were the first tip. Excellent tutorial!
One of the few videos that have actually taught me something instead of rambling about stuff I have no idea how to do. You actually show your work, so I can understand. Thanks!
I say this without the slightest hint of sarcasm or lie - you literally changed my life with this video. I've been spending HOURS painstakingly lining things and this just changed everything in 8 minutes. CSP is honestly the best program I've ever used, every single new thing I learn about it makes me fall more in love.
My mind is literally blown right now. This is the most useful clip studio paint tutorial I've ever seen! This is probably one of the best tutorials I've ever seen PERIOD. Love that everything was to the point while still being fun and entertaining. Props to you man, you've achieved UA-cam greatness in my book. Subscribed
I've been using vector layers for almost 2 years now, and I've NEVER known that the "simplify line" tool also removes stray lines. stray lines in lineart drive me INSANE
I came here just assuming this would be stuff I knew. I /did/ know about Vector lines- but I certainly hadn't been convinced to give them the old college try so well! Also Modifier keys look wild!! Well presented, too. excellent. Thank you.
Thanks! I've been using CSP for awhile, and have been trying to speed up my workflow. I'm also glad to see CSP gain marketshare, since it's very cost-effective.
What the heck, I've tried to find how u do these things for ever and u just cleared me up so much :D, this video was like the funniest tutorial video ever
There is more about hot keys in CSP. You can assign multiple tools to the same hot key. After that when you press that key, the tools will be activated one by one. For example, you can assign S for both Lasso Selection, Rectangle Selection, Polygon Selection then keep pressing S to get the Selection tool you want.
Modifier keys? Modifier keys are a lot like hot keys. For those who don't know, hot keys are like a shortcut to a tool. You press a button, it changes to that tool. Press another button, it changes to another tool, and so on. But a modifier key is a button you hold down to temporarily swap to another tool, and letting go swaps you right back to whatever you were doing.
The main thing that always kept me from investing in newer software from SAI was my fear of losing vector drawing tools. Thank you for this. You really should have an affiliate link somewhere for clip.
I don't think I can express how USEFUL this video was. This video is a life saver. This video should be paraded around schools, projected in movie theaters in place of movie trailers. You made my life so much easier and my job SO MUCH FASTER . Thank you, seriously.
Great vid! I'd also like to humbly recommend the fill using the vector layer as a reference. Allows you to do some cool stuff like fill up the middle of the line. Drag the paint bucket to fill across multiple spaces without having to click into each space Can also use the smart fill feature to get some of the little missed araes, etc.
@Hans exactly that, mainly got EX for the animation features as I follow animation class, but man the way you can manipulate your own brushes and the way it's just so much more convenient for comics and illustrations in general is crazy!!
@Hans agh so true. For some reason it didn't even register my pressure so it was just straight up pixely 😅. But I think it was mainly me not knowing how programs like that worked. I am thankful that I used a more complex program cuz otherwise I would not have been able to figure out clipstudio ☠️☠️
I thought these features existed and I COULDN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIND THEM OR WHAT THEY’D BE UNDER BECAUSE I’M NEW TO DIGITAL ART BUT OH MY G’s THANK YOU!

One other BIG timesaver is using the Shortcut key for the tool, but keeping it pressed instead of releasing it again. Now you can use the eraser temporarily while drawing (or whatever tool you have a hotkey setup for) and when you are done, you just have to let go of the key and you are back to the tool you used before. I use this all the time to make quick selections, or when using the fill tool to fill up a shape I drew.
