    Jeeez, that Mido GMT is freakin gorgeous but a 44mm on my wrist would look like I'm wearing Captain America's shield. I really like that Seiko GMT too but again, my wrists are a small 6 1/2 in. Man, really good-looking watches though.

      I have same problem. Grand Seiko SBGN (9F quartz) seems to be only current true GMT under 40mm. It’s about the size of a SARB. Omega Aqua Terra has independent hour hand at same size w/o GMT. Both are around $3K though.

    I own the Mido Oceanstar GMT and it is an outstanding watch. It is wide at 44mm but if you have a 7" wrist or greater this will fit you well. Some 6.5" wrists could pull it off too. The bracelet does a great job of counterbalancing the watch. Cheers.

    I happen to own the Mido Ocean Star GMT in the Blue version and I must say even having to have it serviced by Swatch group (great warranty) , I totally love the watch. I own it for over a year. I got mine before it hit the USA, I had to get mine from Germany and luckily I found an A.D., so I know I got a real one lolol. Just to add I really like watches with GMT functions and I own a 2016 Rolex Batman and a 2020 Tudor Black Bay GMT , I can honestly say the Mido holds it own against the two watches and since the Mido's original Strap I changed out to a Crown & Buckle single past Nato (I purchased a few color) OMG has added beauty to the watch. I can say I think I enjoy wearing and looking at it a little more then The Tudor. My opinion and I hope you have yours thanks for the video and now have a few more GMTs to look at. Thanks again and all the best to all.

    Nice review. True GMT are easier to adjust local time at each escale while traveling without disturbing minutes and seconds and home time. I personally do not like fixed bezels or marking with 24 on top and 12 on bottom. I usually set my bezel upside down, ie 12 top 24 down. So when home hand is up I can call office. When home hand is down office is closed. When office is opened, time travels from left to right and noon is in middle at the top like in a regular 12 hours clock. So it is more intuitive for me.

    I get the Mido GMT Blue and to resume, this watch hits far above to its weigh class.
    The ceramic bezel is superb, the precision of the movement is amazing, just +1.3 seconds a day, jumping hours, a true DNA with a outstanding design.

    It is the best bargain so far.

      I wouldnt put it on the same level as Rolex, the fit and finish, clasp design, case dimensions, ect are all below Rolex, easily....

      @@PixlPutterMan I have the Batman and the Hulk, and in terms of finished are the same. The precision is same.
      That said, Rolex is the most powerful brand and are in their own league but the resale price is somewhat high but in the reality is not that much. I sold one Submariner Kermit in pristine condition and barely get 7K (no one in his sane mind will pay for it 60K or 80K).

This watch have the silicon hair spring (like Omega, Breguet), the hours markers and hands seems be made by Nivarox and of course are not white gold like Rolex or Rhodium plated like Omega but still impressive.

    I would like to add the Seiko SSK00X (001, 003, 005 if I am not mistaken) GMT timepieces. This model is also a lot of value for the money. I also saw, and ordered, a Wancher Astronaut II TRUE GMT timepiece a few days ago. According to info I obtained, the movement is Seagull ST1612, and manufactured in Japan. It is, like Seiko SSK001, a screw down crown diver piece. It is discontinued, unfortunately. Its price is ridiculously low as well. My vote goes to Seiko Kinetic Sportura True GMT on your list because of the Seiko's legendary in-house movement reliability, accuracy, the magnificent look and the price. Secondly, Mido True GMT, of course. Thank you for the evaluation of these beautiful timepieces.

    The Seiko is really nice, but seriously, 44mm?!! When will they learn? 39-40mm is the sweet spot for most people. You can push to 42mm, but that will still keep a lot of customers on the fence. There’s a clear line between wrist watch and wrist clock.

    Of all the GMT watches I own, the majority of my favorites are my Invicta's in which I can easily adjust the GMT hand where I want it.
    I'm all about Seiko but, the kinetic GMT in my collection will be on eBay shortly. It's the best GMT in my collection yet the biggest PITA to set - IMO, compared to my others.
    If you have to spend more than 10 minutes reading the owners manual to figure out how to operate your watch; it's not worth it unless you will legitimately use ALL it's functions. That's why I sold my G-Shock after 4 days and will never own another one. I'm not a Navy Seal, Green Beret, any other type of Special Forces or a Survivalist 99% of the functions are wasted for the average person.

      @MrLogistician 2 роки тому

      So you sold your g shock because you don't plan for the watch to receive heavy impacts or shocks?

    • @a_z.tazzzfan8497
      @a_z.tazzzfan8497 2 роки тому

      @@MrLogistician Well, in 50 years of watch ownership & collecting of over 400 watches, I only ran into that situation once. I slipped & fell while carrying a fully assembled head for a big block. Crushed the case. Pretty sure the G-Shock wouldn't have survived that either.
      Aside from that, I've never given much thought to what would damage or destroy a watch. I bang my watches on doors, stair railings, granite counter edges, walls, etc and they all run fine after the impacts.
      I've never said the G-Shock is a bad watch; it's just not my cup of tea. As previously stated, I have no use for 99% of the functions. Thus, I can't justify owning & wearing one. Same goes for chronographs. I used to buy them because they looked cool even though I rarely used the features. At one point I had over 30 chrono's. Eventually sold all but 5 of them.

      @@a_z.tazzzfan8497 that's all interesting as fuck. I can see why you don't care about a g shock now. I am definitely similar, my beater is an f91w and not a g shock, and i rarely use the chronograph function on a g shock. I admit without shame i typically wear a g shock because i really like the way they look

    Here’s a question no one seems to have answer for. Hoping you can help. Are there any gmt (?) watches where the second gmt (?) hand is also on 12 hours and NOT 24? I’d love to see two time zone times at the same time, but not have to convert the 24 hour time. Say, one east coast USA hour hand and one west coast USA hand. I’ve only ever seen it once…. Sinn. Thoughts? Name? Movement?

      @@WatchChris A Hamilton Khaki Field true GMT in 38mm or 40mm with decent WR would do it for me. Knowing Hamilton, when it finally does happen they will probably use the 42mm case with 50mm lug to lug they seem to use for everything these days… and there goes the wearability. Anyway, we can hold out some that now that they have developed the affordable GMT movement they will actually use it in a crowd pleasing watch and not relegate it to large under the radar watches no one will buy.

    "True GMT" is a complete misnomer. None of the so-called "True GMTs" can do half hour offsets of which there are dozens of places in the world. Completely useless. There is nothing true about any of them. Call them what they are - traveller GMTs. Say stop saying "true GMT" which I suspect is Rolex gaslighting. I actually prefer the caller GMTs - easier to set and nicer to use to track a second timezone when you're staying in the one place.
