I felt you make the right choice of moving to this old house with a small garden, their are endless of your favourite things to do beside the routine cooking for you meals.
I can’t wait to see snow falling soon in your garden and I hope is not too cold at your side.

Yes, Elsie. It was my dream to live in a farm and do farming. If you have heard about Tasha Tudor, I admire her life so much. But the reality is it is difficult to live in a farm so this place is the best for me and my husband who needs to see a doctor often. Thank you so much for your comment.

Hi Grace! So happy seeing you not just get by each day but thrive like your garden! I saw the green papaya and thought about chicken papaya…😊 Is it hard to find papaya there in Japan and also to find it green?
Your work transforming the home into what it is now is so amazing! It’s not just a nice place but healing and peaceful looking. Looking forward to seeing how you are doing and as always, will keep you and your husband in my daily prayers. Warm thoughts and powerful prayers to you both! ❤❤❤

Dear Francine, glad to see your comment. Yes, green papaya is rare to find but for the past months, I noticed that there are sprouting papayas in the market produced by Japanese farmers elsewhere. I preferred ripe ones though. Thank you as always, Francine. You're in my thoughts. - Grace

Your green papaya reminded me of a French/Vietnamese film that is so beautiful. I think it was called 'The Scent of Green Papaya.'
Your green papaya soup must be very fragrant.

I thought I had to watch the film which I did. I love the architecture, insects, animals and the calming sounds of this film. Mui is so pretty. That 25 kilos of rice. Those clay pots. I have that Vietnamese traditional dress myself called Ao Dai. beautiful film. Thank you so much.

@@livingwithgraceinjapan Yes, the serenity of the film, the colours, the shape of the objects - every bit of it is real life, but presented as art. It has been a long time since I have seen it - maybe it is time for a revisit?
      So glad you enjoyed it.

Hello Grace , food is much cheaper in Japan than in France . I watch 1 or 2 blogs from Japan and see the price of vegetables and meat . Fruit though is more expensive for you . We have to save everywhere we can , so I don't buy anything expensive . I rely on eggs for proteins , sometimes fish and plenty of fresh veggies . I cut off the water heater all summer and made do with cold water .
Your garden is so nice ! You worked hard at it and it shows . Have a good evening 😊

Hello, Marie. Saving or living in a frugal way is a must for us. When we moved here, I spend less and less because I do not have to drive my car often which is good because the price of gas is unbelievable. Expensive. And I wonder why our electricity, water and gas for heater and gas range bills are almost half than the amount we had at our previous apartment. It is lower here.
Thank you, Marie. Have a great weekend in France. Take care.

    Hello Grace 👋🏽 😊
The garden continues to bloom beautifully 🌱🌺 I have never tried chicken tinola. But as I watch you prepared it with such fresh ingredients, I am definitely interested in trying this tasty looking dish. ❤🍽
After seeing your past uploaded videos and hearing about your move to Japan, it seemed to have not been an easy adjustment. But it seems now that you have made a wonderful and peaceful life for your husband and yourself.🏠 I hope that all continues to be well🌱❤🌱😊

    • @livingwithgraceinjapan
      @livingwithgraceinjapan  3 місяці тому

Hello, Joenell, I'm glad that you liked the chicken tinola and even wanting to try cooking it. It is a simple dish in the Philippines. When I was a little, we used to cook it using native chicken, which means, chickens from our yard. So it is more delicious than the chickens we have now. Anyway, yes. My husband and I tried 18 months retiring in the Philippines. It was a traumatic months for us. We were robbed, a thief got inside the house pretending a good person. Told us that our car parked outside was somehow scratched so my husband went to check and when I was in the kitchen, my bag where our bank cards, passport and mobile phones, and money were gone with the robber. We just arrived from the bank at that time and withdrawn an amount of cash for our daily expenses. Police Officers in the Philippines are not as effective as the law enforcers in Japan or I'm definitely sure, in the US. That's only one of the many scarest things I can remember. I could feel danger almost everyday in the Philippines. That's a long reply.... Joenell, thank you so much.

@livingwithgraceinjapan Oh my God! What a traumatic experience you've both been through. I can only imagine how that incident must have left you both feeling extremely upset and vulnerable. I am so very sorry to hear that such a cruel thing happened to you. You have amazing strength, Grace, to get past such an ordeal and move forward to making a better life for you and your husband in Japan. And I hope and pray thar it stays that way for you both.
Truly appreciate you taking the time to respond back to me. I am so happy to hear from you and wish you both well in life and health 🌱😊❤️🙏🏽

@@CMSCK , whenever I feel isolated and tired, I go out the garden or kitchen and do whatever I can to relieve that feeling. Taking care of these plants makes me feel that everything in this world is worth taking care of. Taking care of humans is difficult because they have feelings which is conflicting sometimes. Thank you for asking that question.

you should do a small greenhouse in your backyard and then you can reduce your food cost by half maybe?? and also have a small fish swimming pool, so you can eat fish ?

Hello Kaleey, thank you for watching and wonderful comment. I actually have this tiny greenhouse where I grow spinach (as it is easy and my favorite and getting very expensive here in Japan) and planning to add this tiny green house with a larger one. Your comment inspired me so much. I have been growing easy to grpw vegetables even at our previous apartment. The reason why we moved to a "rotten" and old traditional house because it has a small garden and located in the middle of the city. Thank you for your comment.
