    I will copy this when I make my #3 thumb. 1st was a fail, second is working OK but this looks much better and is probably stronger.

    Where did you get the round stock for the pivot pin? The proportions of that thumb look perfect for the size of your machine. Good Job! I will build one for my Takeuchi TB016 which looks similar.

      I found it locally at a metal shop. It was a 30mm hardened round stock. And the metal collar’s I found on Amazon, 30mm also.🤙🏽

    Hi nice build! I am building a thumb for my chinese mini excavator. Did you adjust the hydraulic pressure for thumb?
    Cheers Alex

      Thank you!! When I first hooked everything up, I went to my local yanmar dealer to ask that same question. He told me because it came from the factory already plumbed I didn’t need to adjust anything. Good luck on your build!

    Excellent well done on the home made thumb fantastic.

    Nice job. How think a steel plate did you use ? So if you curl the bucket does it just push the thumb back in? Assume just blows the relief valve on the AUX line.

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  4 роки тому

      Thank you... I used a 7/16 thick steel plate. That’s what I had just laying around in my steel pile. It has a relief value, so when I push the thumb with the bucket it dose go back in.

    I have vs08, did you have any issue's with tripping or overloading the excavator?

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  4 роки тому

      I do tend to tip a little when swinging over the sides of the excavator. Just need to be careful when doing so. And know the limits of the machine.👍

    Hi, How hard was it to adjust the relief valve on your vio 15? Thanks!
    I have a Vio 17, and it looks hard to get to the adjustment , and I'm not sure which one is it

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  2 роки тому

      Fortunately I didn’t have to do any adjustments. The machine came from the factory with a thumb on it. The yanmar dealership took the thumb off and sold it separately. Sorry I wasn’t much help.🤙🏽

    HMMMM OK that will work ok i guess....BUT...i would put something at the end of the thump , due it may be abit weak but weld a peice in between them well defitnly be stronger . also it would be nice if you had shownin us the full veiw on how you hook the hydruic n thump etc

      Thank you for the advice. I’ve been contemplating about that for some time now. I may just add a piece at the end of the thumb. This was my first UA-cam video. When I was building the thumb I didn’t think about making a video to put on UA-cam. Not until I was finished when a cousin of mine suggested that I should put it online. That’s why I don’t have the complete build. Sorry.

    How did you go about hooking up the hydraulic lines for it?

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  4 роки тому +1

      The machine came plumbed from the factory. I only needed to connect to the hydraulic cylinder.

    I have a kobelco which is very similar. When attaching hydraulic hoses did you have to alter anything or was it plug & play?

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  2 роки тому

      I used a longer 30mm hinge pin. And the hydraulic cylinder was a 2” bore with a 14” stroke.🤙🏽

    I have a question I have no experience with these kind machine but I wane put a thump on my vio 17 I don’t know how to find the fittings o couplers maybe you can tell how

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  4 роки тому

      My vio15 came all plumbed from the factory. The cylinder mount was already welded to the machine. I just needed to find the right length hydraulic cylinder to use. Once you have the cylinder, then you can take it to your hydraulic store to find the right fittings for it. If your machine is already plumbed for it, you need to take the hydraulic plugs/stopper with the cylinder so they can determine the fitting size from the machine. Hope this helps!👍 Good Luck!

    • @brysir
      @brysir 4 роки тому

      HLC 808 thanks for answering I already have all the parts including the cylinder but now I don't know which hose with the connectors I am needing

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  4 роки тому +1

      Try and mount the cylinder to the machine so you can determine the length of your hoses. Then take the cylinder and the plugs to your local hydraulic store. From there they can find the right fittings for you. 🤙🏽

    How long was the hydraulic cylinder you used

    • @hlc8085
      @hlc8085  5 років тому

      It was 22” retracted and 36” extended.
      The cylinder has a 1.5” bore with a 14” stroke and a 1” rod.
