I LOL at the five cylinder analogy. Nailed it! And later, I sell all five at the swap meet for pennies on the dollar. You know, because I don’t want junk laying around.
The shelves in my garage are like a trophy room to failed attempts to save a buck that way … many spares of things I ll never need and apparently never needed
Great video! You should consider rotating the thumb's cylinder 180 degrees so the hydraulic fittings slope towards the dipper arm. That way, the bend on the hydraulic lines is going to be more natural.
In 93 I never even ran a riding mower but my boss wanted me to run equipment so he sat me in a spot and had me dig a hole and fill it in and dig it out till I was good at it 👍👍
Man that’s how I have to learn about everything… I try to pick a softball project where I can damage anything too bad then get after it without being afraid to be bad at it.
I have one of those mini excavators here in NC. I pulled out all kinds of vines with it and some small tree stumps. Just be careful with it I have almost tipped mine over a few times pulling stuff and digging. My driveway is almost a mile long so that thing is painfully slow if you have to go any distance with it.
They are pretty slow where is lower than the skid steer. Somebody’s got a video here on UA-cam about why That is the other issue. They are not very heavy, so I don’t have enough counter wait for the amount of power technically, at least in my opinion Does feel like they could carry a bunch more counterweight if someone needed add is.
another great episode of man vs nature...its sort of interesting someone at some point got tired of hacking and chopping and sawing by hand so he sat down and started designing hydraulic diggers.
It’s like a inverted john henry story here. (not that I was ever is capable of John Henry.). Not trying to replace Man with machine. But I am trying exponentially increase what one guy can do with his time. It’s my version of homesteading in a modern world I guess. I typically work 12 hour days Mon-Friday…. So I need to maximize weekend time. I’m not getting a Lotte mart off the list yet, but I am building the tools to hopefully expedite progress once I am all set up. … and thanks for always watching
Do you think the machine with the thumb could pick up and move a ten foot lone, 500 pound tree tunk safely 40-50 feet? It's about stability and tipping over on slightly uneven gournd. Watching you and one other fellow made me consider using one to clear some land I am thinking of buying that is pretty well forested. Or hoist six inch diameter poles eight feet in the air for a run in wind break/shelter? The number of adventures guys like us can find is endless.
Adventures abound. Lol. Obviously I am new to this. But. I don’t think the lifting capacity is the issue. It’s more about counter weight and leverage. The whole machine, Waze under 2000 pounds but I’m pretty sure it’s right up to lift it self up. So, with my very limited experience, I would say yeah, but you have to be careful Or you can do it I did I’m by the mini skid steer to and just drag all the logs you want and lift all the beams with the excavator lol
@@betweenthesharksgarage so excited i love these vids. I have a feeling your channel will blow up soon so im glad im here early enough for this journey. especially the spray trailer you made.
You can take my advice or not ….. but you would be better off to reinforce that thumb before you bend the sh)t out of it or break that well made Chinese metal… ask me how I know. I have been running and working on equipment for over 50 years! You have the same hydraulic thumb as is on my ht15 I have the Koop diesel engine where yours has the gas engine. Your machine is made by the same company as mine. Side note I really wish your videos were longer. Have a great 4th my little friend from way up in Georgia lol
thanks for the heads up. if you have had the issue i suppose i should get ahead of it. .. since i know myself i probably won't .. then i ll mess it up, then i ll fix it and reinforce it and think... man i knew better I should reinforced it. seriously thanks for the side note... I am still trying to sort out the formatting. Its kinda great to hear you wish they were longer. I cut a lot because i was finding people were not watching a lot of the video... the channels i like are longer format vice grip diesel creek dd speed shop etc - These are projects I was doing anyway and i enjoy making them but I am still working hard to try to figure out how to cut them and present them so they are entertaining enough for anyone that decides to click on them
@@betweenthesharksgarage I can say watching your videos is like watching Derick… you are a hoot to watch plus you are not stuck on yourself… well at least not on your videos lol.. But I have some ideas on making attachments like a brush cutter a sickle cutter but people would rather see you make them… I guess I am too old and ugly to be a UA-cam success! Like yourself!

thats interesting... i ll take a closer look
Cant wait the see the transformation of the property
Me too we’re almost at the tipping point. I’m trying to assemble all the tools so that I can focus on getting after it when the time is right

Looks like you will be having fun with it. Love all the videos.
it is fun thanks for watching
I wonder if you could turn the non used thumb into a rake ripper to be used instead of the bucket?
That’s kinda what I am thinking too

That’s a good deal. How long did it take?
I want to see what’s in the caravan lol
we will get to it... its gonna need to be an exploration/ cleanout... boy howdy
