    Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

      +steveknows62,
      It surprises me when people don't realise how set up these shows are.
      They are literally following a script, not word for word, but basically the questions are agreed to in advance (because look what happens when News reporter for example asks a questions a little bit too personal, the person walks off).
      The answers are partly rehearsed (possibly if there is a joke involved, but mostly the answers are improvised), and as for asking the guest to partake in something like Piano or singing etc, you need to know in advance if they are ready i.e. they don't want to make a fool of themselves.
      An also what most people don't understand is that chat shows are entertainment, so the idea is to entertain the audience, so unless you have the best improv comedian's on the stage (it ain't going to work).
      P.S. There is one who could carry the whole show by himself, and that was Mohammad Ali, very quick witted, very intelligent guy, not too many people are as entertaining as him.

      @steveknows62 6 років тому +1

      Thanks for your reply. I remember being at the taping of your show on the 2nd anniversary of 9/11 where the topic was PMS. I asked you, or your guest, a question that pertained to my then girlfriend, and then, never heard the end of it. Shoulda known better.

    Their riff on the Queen of the Night reminded me of Mozart's riff on the ditty Salieri wrote for him when he came to court in "Amadeus". Mozart said, "May I?" and proceeded to take Salieri's nursery rhyme tune up to the level of a sonata.

    Simon is a profesional musician. He took piano, guitar and singing lessons since he was 8 years old. He is a freaking piano master. We were next-door neighboors from 1986 until 1999.
    I used to hang out with him and all the kids in the neighborhood back in the day. We used to play, pretending we were The A-Team and McGyver and he was so into the acting-playing game.
    Somehow we just knew he was gonna be an artist. And he killed it.
    Never talked to him again, never saw him again. He became the successful artist he is and i became a pilot.
    Best memories of that time when we were kids. I'm happy for him. He is a hard worker. Deserves his success 500%.
