You should also know that if you register a trademark, you are forced by law to enforce that trademark! Meaning that if someone copies your logo, and they refuse to stop using it after you reach out to them, you are forced to sue them! If you don't, you loose the trademark.
So if I design something such as a new type of wind turbine that cannot be patented because all of the relvant technology used in the design is already in the public domain, but is assembled and used in a unique way. How much protection does copyright provide? Would copyright only protect the documents such as production drawings, assembly drawings and diagrams and user mauals etc. Or would copyright protection provide protection against a manufacturer using the information to manufacture and sell the wind turbine without entering into a licensing agreement with me and paying a royalty fee etc?
I have a trademark lawyer within my company that communicated to my team that every use and iteration of our logo should have the registration (R) next to it, even in use cases where the wordmark or solo mark are so small the R would be illegible. In many web use cases I don't see companies that I would think have their own marks registered using their logos with R or TM (not even the famously litigious ones like Disney). Do you know of any hard and fast rule, or guides/resources, regarding when to use those?
