Maths is logical thinking. If you are against maths then you are against rationality itself. To be precise, what maths does really well is allow us to deduce, very accurately and reliably, the consequences of premises. If the premises (e.g. a model of an infectious disease) are not correct then the predictions derived by maths will just be the logical consequences of those premises and so probably also incorrect. It is wrong to give maths the full credit or blame for predictions. However, maths does help us make good predictions because using maths to work out the consequences of our ideas is much more reliable than using unaided judgement. This is the case even when there is uncertainty.
