I am a hardcore Beatles fan and know more then the average lad about them. I respect the bee gees and I would listen to them and this cover makes me like them even more.❤
Bee Gees, maybe like no other artist, had a gift to re-invent themselves. From the band in the sixties, they then surfed the disco era, then they come back even later, and so on. At one moment I was afraid that they would become a punk band.
They lost me when they switched from Satanic death heavy metal to Gangster rap and then to Appalachian country. I started to think they’ll copy anyone to make a quick buck....
Not to mention all of their work in the music industry that they did for other artists. They were more than just a band. I feel they were bigger than many realize. People thought they were just a disco band. They wrote songs for many people. They wrote the theme song for the movie Grease. Very talented family.
I remember seeing them often on Saturday afternoons on Australian Bandstand back in the sixties. Years later I was an architect on a remodeling project of a large house in Beverly Hills that the owners wanted to sell to the Bee Gees on the rumor that they were house hunting in LA. But as we know they opted to live in Miami. Brings back memories of years past.

No. We know they became stars, but there's nothing in this lame rendition of a song by a band (The Beatles) who, in turn, had still not made it really big, that allows anyone to say "aha! The world saw it coming!" Both The Beatles and The Bee Gees might have fizzled out into oblivion in early 1964.
@@javiergilvidal1558 Your comment make no sense at all, and I don't know why you want to muddy the discussion by bringing The Beatles into it. Sure, they might have fizzled, but they didn't. On the contrary, they were stars already (ahem, like, they're performing on a TV show?), and this performance is just one sound byte of years of successful "child star" career, followed by three more superstar careers including a world shattering stint on top of the world as the kings of disco. They didn't fizzle and they went on to stellar, sustained success, followed by superstardom on an astounding level. So, by definition, they were indeed destined for stardom at this point. You should find a different hobby, other than commenting on youtube videos because you can't keep up.
@@doxiemom95 - Barry said Robin was the funniest kid you could ever meet but the Hither Green train accident he was involved in when he was 17 really changed him. Over 50 people were killed and 78 severely injured. Robin helped rescue people. He saw a lot of dead and mangled people and a rail came through the window missing decapitating him by inches. The entire side of the car he was in was ripped off. There is an old video of it on You Tube. After that he became more somber, serious and introspective. Who knows, maybe the PTSD lead him to some drug use that was a problem in his 20's. Later he became a teetotaler and vegan (He was pretty buff in the 70's! Look at the Midnight Special videos from 1973)). A lot of the songs he wrote after that were pretty somber too. Although only a fraternal twin, when that happened and before they got the news Maurice said "Something happened to Robin!"

I don't think you can tell by this bland rendition of the LenMac ditty that the BG's were talented. If anything, it exposes the weaknesses of the original song, and shows how talented The Beatles were in turning a throwaway into a fairly powerful work of art.
@@javiergilvidal1558 Does it matter that the little Bee Gees here, as teenagers, are nearly a full decade younger than The Beatles? Barry, the oldest, was 17 here, while Mo and Robin were 14. It's so interesting to see that even though the Beatles music had reached down under in 1963, the clothing and hairstyles were still 1950s Frankie Avalon... I remember this era and when the changes hit in Brooklyn, New York about a year later. The Vitalis and Brylcreem looks were suddenly out and the new cool look was the Mop Top!
Like your comment. I thought the doo wops were still around locally in the Brooklyn and Bronx areas through the mid-sixties. Chicago grease look continued into the end of the sixties in most south side high schools. Talented performers but prefer these ' 63 Bee Gees to the later versions,
The look really changed almost overnight in NYC after The Beatles played on Ed Sullivan. But there were always some who didn't change but those were mostly older guys and fathers. :) I recall seeing the Mod look become a thing around 1966; i.e. Andy Warhol, The Who, Lovin' Spoonful, The Rascals, and The Velvet Underground. In 67/68 long hair, facial hair, and hippy SF clothes became a thing with the NYC Woodstock generation...@@TheChitown5
In Chicago it depended what part of the city or suburb you were in. Sections of the Northside and Oak Park had the hippie look but ran into conflict with the gang oriented greasers. The Bee Gees greased look and continental slacks seen here was still in vogue where I went to high school through the late sixties. Never identified with the mop top look or music of the post Beatle era, although I understand the changes were necessary for free expression. Ironically, seventies groups from the same blue collar grease areas went totally British Invasion like Cryan Shames, Buckinghams, Chicago and Styx. The Brighton Park Kelly High School1970 yearbook where my cousin graduated on Chicago's southwest side looked like 1959. Guys with Elvis pompadours and girls with beehives. The south side Gousters black community nearby still sported processed hair, pleated pants, stacy adams shoes and stepped off of upbeat jazz, soul and doo wop cuts. @@robbrown4621

The immense talent of the Bee Gee's is indisputable, but honestly, this is a crappy version of a great song.
I am a hardcore Beatles fan and know more then the average lad about them. I respect the bee gees and I would listen to them and this cover makes me like them even more.❤
Is Robin the most adorable thing ever? Yes!

J'adore les BeeGees !!!!
💕💕💕💕
He always was.
Worse than a punk band, they become rappers. Gotta find a way to make some money.
No
Lol that caught me off guard.
Not to mention all of their work in the music industry that they did for other artists. They were more than just a band. I feel they were bigger than many realize. People thought they were just a disco band. They wrote songs for many people. They wrote the theme song for the movie Grease. Very talented family.
The Bee Gees legacy will live for a very long time.
Forever
Harmonies are fabulous. They wrote most of their music
Amazing even then. We didn’t have a clue of what was to come.
No
Yes. Their Music career spand DECADES.
@@davidlang1125 Lamb was popular then. Now it's all mince beef everywhere. Its a bit wrong. The bee gees helped a lot in that regard. Maurice was the main advisor to tell me what they thought. Good days! Thanks!

I'm here after watching the wonderful Bee Gees documentary on HBO. I love watching these old performances! So adorable, they really were something special
What’s the name of the documentary?
Robin is the standout in this performance. Wow! What charisma.
Robin and his teeth are the most adorable thing about this! It's amazing how much Barry looks and sounds like Andy here!
Did he get them fixed later? Or just grow into them? Because I don’t remember them being that prominent as an adult
@@suzykendallosborne Probably got them fix yeah. With all that stardom money and fame they rightfully deserved.
@@suzykendallosborne They all got their teeth fixed eventually. You can compare childhood pix/videos with adult ones.
Robin with that sparkle of mischief in his eye. I bet he was a handful.
KarBen 2020 - The police in Manchester thought so. :)
Yep, enough his family had to move to another country after he started one too many fires! lol! Okay, maybe it was only one really big one, but the way they tell it, it sounds like he was a bit of a firebug! 😆
@@vampyre4me That's true, but Barry was often his partner in crime. Robin was the instigator though. Mo was the good one!
@@vampyre4me - He was...
I had no idea the Bee Gees started this young! Great talent from an early age!
Non mi stanco mai di vederli e sentirli , sia da grandi e da piccoli ....
They were destined for stardom!!!
I think they were also dentisted for stardom
@@bman342a lol!!! I think you’re right
@@TheLarryBrown ... Also i believe he was referring to the Beatles 🐞 song? 🎸🎶🎵🎼 and whenever else he said? Lol 😂
Clearly, Robin was the most animated of the boys. He always was the show-off, in a great way, of the trio!
Kathy - Yet he was much more subdued later.
@@susieq7401 I know, I've been watching some videos and he really changed his style. Like he was sad or something. I wonder what he was thinking.
@@susieq7401 that is so interesting. My heart is drawn to Robin but also in reality I think Maurice was so attractive and amusing. Both of those guys were exceptional. Wait, Barry too. And Andy. What a family. And Barry is here alone. I adore them. Thank you so much for this insight.
I used to love watching them on The Midnight Special. They were all real characters.
Thank you for this old Video. 😊

So cute I want to bring them home
They're so loveable and very talented. Mo the gentleman. ROBIN THE COMEDIAN AND BARRY THE Heartthrob
I agree. I'm a big Beatles fan and I think this is great.
Lennon was 23 in '63, while Paul, 21, George, 20, and Ringo, 24. As the kids today are fond of mumbling....."just sayin'."
