HBT's were indeed designed to replace the denim work uniform of the 1930's, but soldiers found them more comfortable as a field uniform for drill/PT (especially in warm climates). The early light shade was phased out mostly due to use in the Pacific, as the sage green stood out against the darker jungle terrain, so a darker shade was adopted to help blend in and not make soldiers deliberate targets. HBT's saw limited use in D-day, mostly due to supply issues getting them to the ETO in 1944, some Ranger and specialty units were able to get them, and some infantry units got partial sets (just shirts or pants), but by Market Garden, HBT's were becoming more common and saw use until the end of the war.
My HBT trousers are one of the best things I've ever owned. Always reliable when I need to help my mom with gardening, which is also the only practical opportunity I have to use em. XD
I really hope you see this comment but your videos are so good and they have really helped me figure out what to buy, they provide so much information in a fun and entertaining way thank you so much.
Ever wonder how WWII re-enacting came to be? The answer is tucked in the back of the WWIIHRS founder's book, A BRIDGE TO TIME, A Re-enactor's Journey by T.J. Sotoropolis.
Do you or any of the channel viewers know if the WWII issue HBT jackets from Spec PQD 45B and later ever came in a length other than Regular? I know the 1st pattern did have a Long size. If you're at least 6 feet tall and/ or wear a 34+ sleeve length, originals fit very short at the sleeves, even though the chest width is always oversized around 6-8 inches. Two suggestions for future videos. Is it possible to fill in black screen gaps with your new reenactment or original photos, or even a photo of the artist/ album for the song? Also narration is clear and paced well, but the volume and quality seems to modulate a bit between filmed portions and when still images are used. Looking forward to the next video, and bonus points for wearing mismatching shades.
Appreciate the Feedback! Unfortunately we don’t have an answer to your question, however we’ll certainly keep in mind the editorial recommendations you’ve made!
Great video as always lads! Just bought myself and HBT and any info I can get is always nice. Just as a suggestion but maybe you guys could do a video on rations, toiletries, documents, and other small pack fillers? It’s an important thing not many talk about
Huh, got mine from Amazon and they are pretty authentic, even coming with tags that date to the date of “making” depending on the shade of green. Cheap too for only $60 still being made out of the baumwolle cotton. With the 2nd pattern coming from rottennurg deutschland and the 3rd pattern coming from zwjpw.
Would be cool to mention the extensive use of HBTs by the WAACs but I know it’s probably further down the line. Either way excellent series keep at em.
I’m starting to get into ww2 reenacting I ordered a us army infantry uniform that came with the dark green hbt pants I’m just curious if that is historically accurate
Your videos are great, an unbeatable presentation and setting, but...why don't they let you activate the subtitles? Or is it a UA-cam thing? it would reach more people.😢
Nice stuff, long time viewer but recent subscriber, the effort put into these is great, can we have an episode on m1 helmet insignias such as what divisions painted insignias upon their helmets? Those situations where that as allowed? And what paint and such is best for authenticity?
I can't find a repro 1st pattern other than SoF. I don't want to order from SoF due to the complaints of practically being robbed & then when you tell them about it they get rude tell you to go somewhere else. After they stole your $, lol. They kinda look like assholes in their advertising photographs looking all silly & frumpy.
Not a WWII reenactor, but really appreciate the old music and how you make these videos in the WWII era style, very entertaining.

Lots of HBT pants were allegedly used for warmth over wools in winter

i also thought he use of the Camo HBT's were removed because when they were worn/ broken in they would fade white and or brighter

That will definitely be a topic in the near future!
@@theusgireenactorguide1830Fantastic! Can’t wait to see that and all the other videos you guys make!
Excellent..we're a 3rd armored group in the UK..most interesting
Hi could you do a video on a medical impression?

you should really make a video on ww2 dress uniform, think it would be appropriated!
ps. love your vids, they’re great!!!
great video
Could you use these for korean war impressions too?
Will there be a guide about the pacific theater in the future?
@@BigusShrimpus We hope to eventually start covering the PTO in future uploads!
Would you be willing to make a video on interwar impressions? I’m making a 1939 impression and am having trouble with it.
I’m starting to get into ww2 reenacting I ordered a us army infantry uniform that came with the dark green hbt pants I’m just curious if that is historically accurate
I know that the song in the intro is "Your in the army now" but does anyone know who made that specific cover?
might i ask what's the music at begining?
ahhhh the most comfortable clothes I own
The funny thing is the HBTs were hot in the pacific and many of the ground crews wore their khakis to work in as they were cooler
That camo pattern is still better than the ACU.
hope someone make movie like this about usmc
Where is everyone getting G.I. boots? WWII Impressions and At The Front are out of stock with little or no chance of them coming back.
What does HBT stand for?
HBT is an Acronym for Herringbone Twill!
Your videos are great, an unbeatable presentation and setting, but...why don't they let you activate the subtitles? Or is it a UA-cam thing? it would reach more people.😢
That’s certainly something we can look into!

The hip pockets on the 2nd pattern HBT trousers are quite possibly the worst pockets ever designed.
SmWholesales do HBT & Frog Skins.
They do! However, they unfortunately only sell the Marine patterns and not the Army ones which are the topic of the video
hey hey

Stop blacking out screen very anoying!
A minute in and no explanation of "HBT."
Ya gotta unspool the acronyms.
I'm out.
