spent money on a decent iron, hakko. Fixed 2 different electronics devices today. All ready worth buying it. It is much easier to solder with flux and a good iron.
You have a missing component at 6:21, next to the 8 gold plated pins
you're right, that looks ripped off. hope he sees this
You're absolutely right. Good catch. I'll check it out tomorrow
@@NorthridgeFix make part 2
Might be also the smd next to the missing caps u found! And a little airflow or desold/solder could resolve! Respectfully from Tunisia
Yeah
I just have to say, I've worked in both manufacturing and after market repair and you are more professional and knowledgeable than the vast majority of technicians I've both worked with, and had work for me. Keep up the great work!
Alex did get a degree in electrical engineering
@@trilexfixanyone can do that, as long as you're committed to gain experience from other people. It's not really about the degree, it's about the approach.
Thanks for showing us where to look for things like the edges. Alex I found out for the camera you have and the holster that it goes in, it uses Allen screw 1/18 to make it firm so no need to use a screw-like the one you showed me over text. Its all an experience even if you don't fix it, you only get better by learning from anything that you spend time on trying and figuring.
Nice job, awesome work👍
Loved the part about the component not being able to turn a corner!!!
Good job sir and the hero could not survived of wounds THE END. I like your work.
I feel your frustration. I hate hate hate to let anything get past me. If it were me I’d put that board aside and come back to it time and time again until I figured it out.
other missing component @ time code 6:21. you make a good job
So the repair shop made a mess of it so they decided to send it to a professional...haha! Great work, I hope to see a part 2 fix.
maybe that other shop repair that board but didn't notice some part were missing so he decide to send to another shop because he has no time for it and have to repair another customer device or maybe they only repair phone of some brand and customer ask if they can repair something else.
@@Damjanhd it can be, a beginner technician Mess with the board and send it to a professional to fix his mistakes
If somone see your all videos then he will be able to fix any circit
I really love your videos!!! I started to fix things myself as well and now I'm cought up with a Nintendo Switch, I have to change the charging port. I lost some pads trying to clean them, I think the wick that I have might not be as good... Anyway thanks to your last video now I know how to try and fix the issue. I wanted to ask you... Is it ok to use the isolating tape on the board it doesn't make much difference? Also I use a heat gun to remove the port. Do you think it's giving the board to much heat or it should be good to go?
I love watching ur vids
Good job keep going
Nice job and video
Hey boss hope all is well! It looks like you have a shorted component to the right of the 3 caps you tested! It looks shorted but can’t tell for sure it may be the lighting!
When the meter blinks… it means that the board wants to draw a lot of power right?
So you could inject voltage and use the thermal cam!
Sir can you make a special video on Amtech NC-559-V2-TF & Amtech VS-213-A-TF Fluxes. I am confused which to use & where to be used. Both I saw on your website.
Nice sir 😄☺️
Hey! Retroriks here! Try another usb -c port but first change the hdmi ic on the back!
Good job
Send 5V to charging line with power supply and check what HOT
I'm trying to get into repairing computers and consoles and all that, how do you know exactly what capacitor goes to which chip and what chip does what? I know schematics are important but I don't know how to find any. Any tips to help me learn the layouts of boards?
Thanks brooo...
Try with thermal cam. By flickering charge meter is telling you that there is big short there.
Nice sharing 😍
The Hive is at work with some of these issues! Many worker 🐝 🐝🐝 make the job alot easier
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
I am working on an SMD board right now but not having much luck so far. It's an amplifier and there is a horrible oscillation coming from the output and the audio amp chip heats up. I thought I found a shorted cap but it was shorted intentionally via a switch. Took me 45 minutes to put it back on! 😅 I really need a heat gun and microscope for this job so I think I will wait until I get a REAL job and buy some more tools. I hear you have a microscope for sale ... 😉
Did you look at it with termal? Just wondering
Assalam O Alikum Sir
Please Tell Which Digital Multimeter You Use For Testing purpose
15:05 top right corner of the chip? short?
I'm curious about something. When you found the 3 missing components and a capacitor out of place up above, you took the stray capacitor and decided to put it on the left-most place. Then proceeded to take the other 2 capacitors from the donor board. Why? I mean, how do you know it belongs there? All 3 capacitors have the same size, shape and colour, however they can have different capacities, for example 100 nf. and 680 uf. You didn't do any testing or measuring or looked at a schematic. What if that capacitor belongs in the other place, or even below the IC? Or did you know that all 3 are identical in that specific board?
I'm not judging you AT ALL. I'm just curious and I want to know how could you tell, I want to learn and improve because I work doing the exact same thing and I'm trying to be quicker and more efficient.
Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work!!!
it depends on the size bro
@@khhhdjnh1618 no it doesn't. I have a little bag full of ceramic capacitors and even with same size they have different ratings. At least MY bag...
@@khhhdjnh1618 no it doesn’t at all.
It doesn't matter because they are both connected to same two pads. He could solder it even one on top of another. Basically two caps connected in paralel...
Most of the time they are the same value if that is the same size.
Good jobe bro
When it's a no fix do you take all the good components back off that you replaced?
Good question
Diode on the bottom of the board at 06:22 (horizontal one, not vertical!) looks reflowed and with incorrect polarity?
and on the left of the arrow there is a component missing :))
can u look this in flir cam may be some sort of shorting
No
The device won't turn ON, don't take voltage
Hello sir . Blickling issue is mostly consult with BGA IC as you rightly mention. There is a slightly burn mark at CAP beside second IC (small) . But it's good. Blinking issue is definitely an issue with cap. Anyhow. U know it better. MashaAllah. May I know why u didn't used thermal cam in this video. Anyhow. Have a happy weekday ahead.
i seen a missing component (6.20-6.21).
i have the photo But I Didn't know how to send you.
Another commenter got his attention with that detail.
do u repair razer laptop boards i have an old set of boards id like to get repaired so far found 2 fuses are blown but theres a short that cant be eliminated to ground from the fuses u able to take a crack at it
Does the donor board work, or is it beyond repair? If it is ok, would it be better to just use the donor board?
Hi, I saw your videos on the switch .. I have a quarrel to which I changed the connector .. although I have 5 volts on the battery connector I have 0 volts .. I have no short on the capacitors on the m92t36 and not even on the other ic next to it. as voltages around ic m92t36 i have 1.40 volts and 2.90 volts .. i can't understand where the problem is .. could you give me some advice? thanks
What multimeter you use to check for shorts that has buzz?? Or which setting you use it at ? Thanks
Continuinity and fluke multimeter
I've seen the flickering issue before, hard to say 100% though, you kind of jump over the areas on the board that would tell me what revision your working on. there are several.
Is it the revision with or without the diode arrays? (6 pin package near the port after the fuse/filter next to CPU shield and other side next to the port)
If so they have been the cause in the cases I have seen and solved.
Why you Have not used the termal camera ?
honest video
Nice.
Have you checked the CPU caps bottom of the board. Could be shorted CPU.
both pin 1 chip position did you check?
Check if the caps are shorted where the components where knocked off
see with thermal cam????
Hi, can u please explain why IC chips going wrong? I would like buy nintendo switch but I'm worried about issues which can come lately..
i saw another missing component on 6:23 i think it is a cap but the diod in the right looks fishy
Wizard of micro soldering
I have seen a another component top of the black chip, in donor board it is a capacitor and in your board there is another component.
Give the timestamp from the video. That would be helpful for him to figure out.
Hi im in uk can you recomend anyone on your level to repair my ipad, it has had a new screen fitted but then the screen started to go dim and had dark spots at top of screen. I think its the diodes from research but i can still press things even tho it powers on and has black screen. EVERYONE JUST WANTS TO REPLACE THE SCREEN!
Sounds like who ever did the repair didn’t disconnect the battery and damaged the filters
Misplaced component was little missplaced again during heating up
there is no short on board only the missing component might causes flickering
This is truly enlightening!
Did you juse uv camera?
At 2:57 above the arrow there looks to be water damage on the cap.
ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕೆಲಸ 👌🌹❤️ amazing and beautiful work sir 🌹👌❤️
isn't it just cheaper to buy a used one? or there is important info on this?
Why you didn't see it under thermal cam?
Was the board still too hot the last time you checked ?
Looks like there's still something missing at 6:23 bottom left
the cap to the side looks like it has a hole?
Looking for a quick video part 2 for the sake of 6:20 missing component, fullfil our curiosities
Why doesnt my switch connect to my tv or detect a micro sd card? I think i may need to take it somewhere to repair it because i raged when i was playing a game and it was probably damaged
did you check usb port ?
Like you rightly said Alex components get ripped off on the edges of a board as pointed out by Alex Stone at 6:21
There are still some differences between the Donor Board and the job board in the area were they knocked off the components, the component on top of the ic is something that looks like an inductor in the job board but in the Donor is a really big capacitor, that might be your problem there.
I see it too
I solder while standing because of how I have my garage set up, is it much better sitting down? Want to hear some horror stories.
It's so lucky to have a donor board 😌
Not lucky, professional
@@lexander9686 no broo sometimes we don't get a donor board if customer don't sent it.
👍👍👍👍👌👌👌
Why not checking some voltage readings!!!!
Where are you from?
Con nhỏ nhỏ đó có thể là Diode or Resistor
You have bridge in 15:03 sec chip
Why didn't you check the USB C connector?..🤔
@Paddy McCarthy 2.0 i missed when he said he checked the usb connector...
How much to get a nintendo switch fixed from them?
check the temperature of ic
charging port ???
Change the chip near the cap that was out of place
Maybe its something to do with the usb c charger port !!?
Already checked. Port looks clean
@@NorthridgeFix oh ok i hope to see part 2 love all your vids thank you for the upload
It’s the usb c connector there’s a shortcut in it
Missing component at 6:20
Honestly the amount of electronics I’ve had people ask me to fix and I ask every time does it work at all and they say nope. It’s dead. I’ll say ok good. I’ll be stripping it completely. And I ask has anyone else been in it trying to fix it and they always say yes. I’m like 🙄. I can usually fix it but Jesus they just make my life harder and the job ten times longer. Had people hand me a bunch of components with an amp or something and it turns out to be just the internal fuse but now I’ve got a full job on my hands 😑
كبير 😍😍😍😍
I notice you always chack for a "shorted" cap. Have you ever found a cap failed "open" ??
i think you need to reconsider you question. maybe also search what a cap is!
@@gat1994 lmao
Can I drive a Unit to you to avoid the mail in fees?? I'm only Hour away from your shop
Just see with thermal camera. I think it's short
6:21 i see another missing component i think you missed
I request you please don't quit on this device and take it as a challenge.
get digram from company, u can not surrender after take this bcz u r the pro
Nintendo doesn't give you schematic diagrams
i think you have two missing components with the bigger chip
Sir i like to known which smd r u using?
if I'm fixing it $50, if you tell me what wrong $70, if you are watching me while I'm doing it $100, an if you try to fix it earlier $200. I know that this is an old one but Its good one
There is no such thing as every card will be repaired, sometimes we can not save the card no matter what we do as repairmen, a new card will solve the problem.

That’s a CPU issue for sure, since all power stages seem ok. I bet the balls underneath got shifted all over the place.
