Well, for me it looks like a pressure of time for fixing devices. There were few things more Alex could do about this board. It will definitely make a big boom.
Update: 5/14/2024 We replaced L21 with the correct component. Eric saved the day. Thank you. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL8Q3bn86Fr4ROddAwxm7yr788X-KsMI Few pointed out that the broken trace is L21. while that is true, the value of the component is unknow and this likely being EMI filter, replacing with a direct wire will not have a noticable effect considering the size of the component. If you know the value of the inductor, feel free to share it, otherwise it won't make a difference
I love watching you because you remind me of my dad. He didn't just repair PCB's, he designed, etched & assembled something from out of his head. He made so many things that would blow your mind, like a digital keypad door lock from just parts (not a kit), for his dark room, back in 1969. He made a digital clock from nothing but spare parts. It was because of him that I mastered all skill trades by the time I was 42 & retired confidently. In the 60's there was no internet or cell phones, but he was still connected to all over the planet via Ham Radio & he did have a cell phone, a hand held Ham that connected to land lines to anywhere there was a phone line (for free).
Watching from South Africa I might not be able to afford the equipment but thankfully due to your generosity I'm able to enjoy your vids...your explanation and incite is awesome.....
I think that was a fusible trace that blew up if thats the case then there could be a problem with the board or there was a huge load on it like stuck propeller that caused it.
hI Alex for future reference .. Mybe you al ready Know this.... All The label of the compontens tha star with an "L".. are inductors or coils......And as you also may already know are normaly used to fiolter noise.. if they are on the inputs ....

Thank you, Eric, for reaching out to Northridge fix and it was very professional of him to follow advice for that’s what it’s all about, the L 21 component whether it be a filter or capacitor or resistor or even an inductor most likely does play a significant role, And by replacing with a wire, especially one that was doubled up in the event something like this happens in the future again the board could’ve been totally fried for the components failure sacrificed itself to save the board. It acted as someone commented like a fuse and fuses just a bridge a wire, an element made of a certain material but depending on how thin it is or how thick it is or whether it is a slow blow or fast acting fuse makes a big difference. That is why if you have a two amp fuse it is never a good idea to replace it with a 20 amp fuse For the filament is way too thick on a 20 amp and a fault occurs that fuse isn’t gonna blow something else is going to blow so it is always critical and important and vital that any and all components especially on the input or line side or even the output and load side be fusedcorrectly and properly with the correct components, and Northridge fix did follow through by taking Eric’s advice and replacing said component and it looks beautiful and I’m sure that board is working like a boat.😊
humidity from the salt water probably killed it due to lack of coating. i hope your customer knows to recoat the whole thing before installing, otherwise it will happen again.
Actually, it's because the word “boat” is an acronym. “Bash Out Another Thousand”. Because a boat is, in the popular dictionary definition, “A hole in the water into which the owner pours money.” Mar 7, 2019
I think that board is going to make an even bigger bang when it gets plugged in!
Μy thoughts exactly.
depends if solenoid was replaced also (assumption its for solenoid). if not than i agree.
Hell yeah 😂
I hope the poor owner reads your comment and doesn't plug it or! Definitely in for a surprise. 😂

Next time send in the boat for reassemble and test
😂😂😂
I wonder how long big boss will need to assemble or disassemble it
@@chopper680probably won’t see him any more, as the boat drifts away into middle of the ocean. :)
i think is not a problem for big boss

Came here just to read about the L21 🤣
Thanks for the explanation.
Yea i had noticed L21. its likely a filter inductor.. i have a feeling something shorted the output.. and it acted as a fuse.
Did it work?
Alex, that is conformal coating on the board. I sent you a bottle of conformal coating remover from MG chemicals last year.
@@bblod4896for sure it’s a coating. I work in repairing pcbs with this coating and use a similar remover and it works great.

Big Boss is going on a trip to the port to reassemble and test ⛵
You can test it Alex. All you need is a 35 foot cabin cruiser. I will sell you one.
Free rod and reels?
Fixed with a proper calibrated wire.
no it was the 10 K ohm solder
as entertaining and thought provoking as the videos always are, I love to browse the comments for scientists remarks !!!!
Something else downstream in the circuit probably failed... that board will just fail again, but next time it will REALLY go boom!
What can you do?
@@me_bee_ste_1355 measure resistance or shorts of actuators!

An amazing proper calibrated wire 😂

You are correct.
Agreed with you guys, maybe it will be a lesson learned for Alex.
Great job Alec cause the copper coil will reduce the voltage there after.😎👍
Well It'll either work or go Boom..!! better tell the customer to keep a fire extinguisher near and handy just incase 😂👍
One day, you'll have your own yacht, cruising the waves of success. Best wishes from Lebanon we are proud of you
that flux does all the work damm
Surprised you didn't use your favourite heavy-duty-braid :-)

I think a fuse goes there Alex, we use a similar board on our falcon 9
The yellow part looks like a resettable fuse.
I was thinking EFI...
Did it work or did you create the next Gilligan's Island out of the boat?
Love youe new videos Alex and other youtubers videos. Better than Factory 😊

Would be great to know if tbe board is functioning again or not 😊
That component was supposed to be an inductor, but I don't think a straight up wire would honestly cause any issues in a solenoid firing circuit.
All of a sudden, everyone's a professional 😁🤓
@me_bee_ste_1355 alot that watch this are. I do this for a living, but enjoy watching him
nice job
No circuit diagrams never seemed to hold you back :)
You should send Big Boss to reassemble and test the board on customer boat ;)
yeah , I need your boat for two weeks to do a bench, err a dock er a fishing & skiing test
Would like to get and update from him on that😅 the risk he takes 😅.

proper calibrated wire 😂
when I saw that common mode chocke, it reminded me the power supply circuits of "MyVanitar"
you are doing great 👍 👌
please say hi to big boss , may i ask where is big boss from?
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but you should also try live streaming and then making a few videos using clips from your live stream.
I I captain , awesome stuff boat Items are expensive
attach the chain, pitch in the anchor. Friggin floater.
As always, better than factory!
for $2000 the manufacturer could have at least put a few fuses in at the input output,
Great job ali

Solder mask
Kimtech wipes
Mini Hiroshima

Looks too small to be a power supply inductor, although it is possible. Very unlikely though.
And here what is this? 11:14
the green stuff is solder mask. but in this case not really needed.
