      I really don't understand why they didn't go for that.
      They knew early on they weren't going to make him an utrom,
      so why not make him a film version of Baxter? Baxter has had many incarnations,
      and even some of the funny stuff the professor says is so baxter stockman-like.
      They honestly could've made like maybe 2 more minutes of film and switched some dialoque,
      if they wanted to make him "evil/crazy" (not necessary but possible), like force him to make
      "the anti-mutagen" and tell him they can and will handle the shredder so don't be loyal to him, etc.
      Even a redemption, who knows, given how much of a jerk he really seemed like at the beginning of the film.

    I think the secret of the ooze was that it was just waste and not the intended byproduct. It was an accident, and the creation of the Turtles was an accident. That's not something you wanna hear about your own birth and Donny expresses as much. I love the bit where Splinter tells him not to confuse the details of his origin with his present self-worth. That's a lesson a lot of people need to learn.

    Seems like a pattern where the 90s hero movies started off great, but ended their trilogies with goofy half wit writing as if anyone under the age of 18 didn't remember what happened in the previous movies.
    I remember loving the heck out of the 1990 original TMNT, and having watched it again recently, I think it really holds up. It's sequels left a lot to be desired.

    • @PsychoWerekitsune
      @PsychoWerekitsune 5 років тому +5

      @tyrone kinard that rule only applies to the mutagen from the original cartoon. The ooze (a completely different substance) was chemical waste that was a byproduct of other experiments the Utroms were working on at TCRI, and its properties were basically accelerated evolution.

      I mean...talking ninja turtles doesn't make any sense either..so i just went with it.

    • @PsychoWerekitsune
      @PsychoWerekitsune 5 років тому +4

      @tyrone kinard by your logic, Splinter should've turned into a rat-turtle hybrid since he was last in contact with them. That's just not how the ooze works and never had outside of the Fred Wolf cartoon, where it's more specifically referred to as "mutagen" instead of ooze (and by extension, the 2k12 show which borrowed from that and did the same). The ooze's main qualities are rapid growth and intelligence, giving animals the ability to think and function similar to humans (sometimes limited by their age). Yes, we've never seen what a mutated human looks like for the most part, but it has functioned on that ruleset in most forms of media (Mirage Comics, film universe, 2K3 show, and IDW comics).

    • @PsychoWerekitsune
      @PsychoWerekitsune 5 років тому

      @tyrone kinard that just really feels like grasping at straws. Most info sources cite the ooze as being and evolutionary accelerant. The articles on the 87 and 2K12 series literally stated it was depicted differently than other mediums and operated according to what you said:

      The CGI based movies take it to far. I dont want the turtles seeming like superheroes flying threw the air and nearly indestructible. You cant relate to them as well. The final scene in the original movie where the turtles fought the shredder was so well done. No high flying over the top crap. Just the turtles using real martial arts against there greatest enemy.

      Neuro Mancer Oh yeah for sure looking back these movies could’ve been better and yes they are classics except 3 of course LOL and the first one is still my favorite hands down it would’ve been awesome if they had the feel of Daredevil or Punisher with a mix of Sam Raimis Spider-Man that for me would be an amazing movie also less CGI and more practical special effects preferably the new movies were CGI heavy and too goofy for me to enjoy they need to have an a little bit of a dark tone like the first one they seem to forget that the comics were dark in tone let’s hope the re-reboot takes this into account and makes it a well balanced movie with a good script to boot hopefully.😁👍🏽

      tyrone kinard Not really they were marketing it towards the kids so of course they based it off the 87 cartoon with some elements of the comics they weren’t going to be killers and the throwing away their weapons only happened at the end of the first movie because Shredder made them so they complied so that he wouldn’t kill Leonardo and the second movie because the parents complained about the first one being to violent so they went with the more slapstick comedic route in the second film but in hindsight they really weren’t that bad except the third installment and the Michael Bay movies too imo.🤷🏽‍♂️😁👍🏽

    Interesting. As somebody who never read the Mirage comics (I knew comics existed, but was never into comics in general, and the couple books I did have were just adaptions of cartoon episodes so I thought that's all the comics were), I had no idea that the utroms were an established race prior to the early 2000's cartoon. I had always just assumed that series took the idea of Krang and expanded upon it.
    I feel like every time I watch a video related to TMNT lore, I learn that more and more details I once complained about for being changed in later shows were in fact returned to their original form, and it was instead the cartoon I grew up with that got it wrong.

      @@RetroCynical I used to think it it a close tie when I was younger but on watching it now, the second movie is the worst of the three in story and fight scenes. The story makes no sense at times. There are several times when April could have told the police about the Foot and their whereabouts but doesn't. Prof. Perry at no time after his rescue attempts to contact his colleagues for any type of scientific help in developing the anti-mutagen, instead relying on his memory and Keno to go shopping for ingredients! The fight at the TCRI building, there was no reason for a confrontation and risk losing the ooze and alerting the turtles to the Foot's revival. The fight scene at TCRI is awful compared to the fight scenes in the other two movies. The end of fight at the junkyard, when they flee to the sewers, also makes little sense. No one in the Foot is able to jump or climb over a car to chase after the turtles? There's other things here and there but these things just kill it for me now. The main thing holding the third movie back, IMO, is when the turtle costumes look bad, they look bad. But the story and fight scenes are much better than the second movie.

      @@ENiceGeo I'm really only a huge fan of the first film, the other 2 I can watch for nostalgia and the overall cheese factor. I would disagree that the second is the worst but would say 3 could have been better if done correctly. It just looks really, really, bad. As far as fight scenes go I think Its comparing rotten apples to rotten oranges. Part 3 has so many plot holes and contradictions. The way they explain the transference of bodies from one time to another, the "swap" I guess you could say, doesn't follow the explanation. The fact that April just happens to meet up with Casey's ancestor that just happened to be captured in Japan and look exactly like Casey, the fact that it's just trying to be the 3 stooges and Back to the Future 3 combined are just a tiny list of the many things that make it cringey. Besides the unnecessary usage of Vanilla Ice, I can still enjoy part 2 as a movie. Yeah I can look at part 2 now as an adult and point out the flaws and nonsense but part 3 is difficult to watch without wanting to fall asleep.

    Yeah, I found out about this a little while ago myself. The revelation of Prof. Perry being an alien Utrom would have been really cool and a much better way to leave off with him. If you think about it the story in Secret was never fully told because the REAL 'secret' was never revealed. I understand, however that there were two problems with the professor's big reveal: 1. They weren't sure how to pull it off. They were afraid that practical effects would have looked to cheesey for this particular character and CGI was still in it's early stages and, even though it could be used to great effect (just look at Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park), it was probably to expensive for them to use. 2. We have to bare in mind that the 1987 animated series was still on at the time so they were also afraid that a lot of us (both kids and adults alike) would mistake him for Krang. * sigh * It's nice to imagine what would have been. Sadly though, that's all we can do now, imagine.

    To address the Bebop and Rocksteady villains rumor at the end, I remember seeing in a documentary or in some commentary that either Laird, Eastman, or both of them did not like Bebop and Rocksteady. Those characters were created by the cartoon, not their comic. This is one of the changes where they put their foot down, and Tokka and Razzar were a compromise they agreed to.

    I’d never been a HUGE fan of turtles 2, as an 8 year old I liked the movie but it just didn’t hit as hard as the original to me, I know now as a 37 year old that the storyline didn’t move me and by the time the third movie rolled around when I was 10 I started imagining better sequels to part one.
    The first reimagining was part 2, instead of bringing the shredder back right away and resurgence on the foot clan, bring another of the turtles villains to life. With part one ending with Splinter being a key, using not only his wisdom but master level skill in using the nunchucks to get Shredder hanging over the rooftop, catching the knife in hand and dropping him, it would’ve made sense to capitalize on. What better way to do that than to introduce, The Rat King as the antagonist in part 2, using and expounding on the storyline from one of the cartoon episodes where The Rat King gets Splinter under the spell of his flute and the Turtles have to deal with getting beat by their master until at some point they figure out a way to over power the Rat King and release Splinter from the spell.
    Then reimagine part 3, where the Shredder re-emerges to execute his revenge, he restrengthens the foot, and not only that introduce Baxter Stockman as another antagonist. Have the foot try to rob his lab for money/supplies and are defeated by Baxter’s “Mousers” and Shredder enlists him and the Mousers in trying to find the Turtle Den by sniffing out Splinter etc. even as a child I felt these were way better ideas than that which they gave us. When I watch Turtles the movie, I never get the notion that I should watch 2 and I had 3 on tape back in the day and recorded a Bulls game over it when Jordan came back 😂

    • @johnedsel
      @johnedsel 5 років тому

      That's an interesting idea, but then wouldn't it make more sense to introduce the Mousers in the 2nd film to deal with the huge surge in the rodent population in New York? If Rat King was controlling all the rats, then something must be brought into deal with him and the rats? Maybe he seizes control of the Mousers and uses them against the turtles?

    • @RyccoLamar
      @RyccoLamar 5 років тому

      tyrone kinard no, as I stated these were all my childhood ideas, I didn’t get into the comics my affinity with the turtles cane like most of us with the cartoons in which the Rat King was a reoccurring villain. So whether or not he was a comical figment of splinters imagination he still would’ve made for a better villain in the sequel than what the sequel gave us

    @NEUR0MANCER_ 5 років тому +10

    Love secret of the ooze, and I always figured it was the revelation that it was the company tcri behind the ooze, and it sheds light on where it came from, honestly I love the comics, but the aliens always felt to fantastical for that time, so I never thought to connect them, but that's cool, would of been better than the pt 3 we got, would love if nick made a sequel that takes place just after secret of the ooze, mixing daredevil and hellboy elements making a bit darker, more martial art and alien based ninja turtles movie, that did what the OG pt 3 was supposed to do, but do it right with all practical effects enhanced by cgi, but with the new terminator Halloween and star wars, they would most likely ruin it, and put in a female turtle when PL promised fans, there would never be another 5th turtle after that POS live action series that shoehorned in venus.
    Also anyone else ever wonder why the shredders armor mutated when he drank the ooze at the end of part 2? he should of had the same armor, and just been a massive hulk or creature, wth did his spikes and helmet change? Looks badass, but I also wondered about that, maybe he poured it on himself, instead of drinking it.

    • @isaacdenley1922

      It's weird but it's atleast consistent in the franchise that his armour changes with him

    • @NEUR0MANCER_
      @NEUR0MANCER_ 3 роки тому

      @@isaacdenley1922 I just noticed that the last time I watched it. I sat there thinking, wait... ooze only reacts to organic tissue, the turtles didnt evolve with their knee and elbow pads already apart of their bodies. They simply grew into humanoid turtles.
      I admit, the armor is really badass, and as a kid, the super shredder toy, was the shredder toy I played with. Along with the ninja turtles 2 figure that were made out of rubber, and felt like turtles skin rather than plastic.
      SO i was running over the scenario in my head, about how it was possible. And im thinking, maybe when shreddrt landed, it could of drank some of it, then crushed the vial on his face and chest. causing his whole being to mutate, and the ooze maybe reacts to enhancing inanimate objects, as well as flesh. So he wasnt just super shredder, but super shredder in super armor. Or its just a cool stylistic design choice to sell toys. But I would of liked to have seen shredder transform.
      Maybe if they ever make that tmnt sequel to the 90s film, they will have super shredder to contend with, along with a practical effects bebop and rock steady. Guys in suits, but again, enhanced by mo cap.
      Best way to bring the turtles to life, is to put the actors in practical body suits that look very much like the originals, and maybe put on a turtle head shaped visior or helmet with dots on their face.
      You could easily make them practical enhanced by mo cap to bring them to life, instead of entirely cgi monstrosities.

While on the same website IMDB, I noticed that it did state that the people who created the movie wanted the duo to appear but Eastman and Laird declined the idea, hence why we have Tokka and Rahzar instead, as for Professor Perry as an Utrom, it is an interesting idea I would've liked to see, just to see how that scene would turn out, but I pictured it differently, tbh. The idea I had was toward the end, with April's voice, we notice Professor Perry opening his shirt to reveal the Utrom inside. I believe that a third film involving the TGRI Researchers trying to head on home, only for the turtles to interfere with that, would be an awesome plot to see.

TMNT sort of became a joke after Ooze, while yes I agree it is a fun movie to watch. But I really wanted Bebop and Rocksteady in the Utrom realm part of the Turtles. I think the project was just too expensive to make, and while it could have been done recently; instead of keeping the turtle design, I'm sure more time and money was spent on the redesign that no one asked for. The real fans I feel want the Utrom world on screen, but it is a bit gritty for younger audiences.

    I enjoyed TMNT 2 for what it was at the time, and I still do. But I agree that the “Secret” of the ooze did leave the plot with loss ends. Like basically there should have been Krang in a robot body along with the Utrons that created the ooze along with Baxter Stockman as a TCRI employee and the two mutants be Bebop and Rocksteady teaming up with the Shredder and his foot clan. It would have been a lot to cram up, but it would have made the movie a lot more epic! Especially to please all the kids and fans alike to see there favorite turtle villains be brought to life on the big screen.
    In that way, turtles 3 would have been the real Turtles in time when they face off against the Triceratons. Now that would have been an awesome end to the turtles original trilogy instead of the embarrassing sequel we got back in 1993.

It just didn't make sense to me that all these different religions who don't get along in some way, all think THEY are the on the correct path and everyone else be damned.
    So, by 92, at age 7, I had already accepted the idea that we're just alive for a short time. We don't have a real true purpose. It's all just some random things that came together and here we are.
    So..when I finally saw the movie at home, on vhs..i heard that comment and I was like, "nah..you're just accidental ninjas. Be happy. You're ninjas and get to eat pizza whenever you want."
    And as I got older, I feel more validated in my belief that we're all just here. so I still look at that comment in the movie as Donnie just not being able to come to terms. Look up the term DEEP UNDERGROUND MILITARY BASES. It will help you understand some of the subjects in TMNT a bit deeper.

    I remember reading somewhere that Perry was going to be revealed as an Utrom as a stinger, but the studio decided to cancel it because most of the audience would assume he was actually Krang.
    Also heard that Bebop and Rocksteady could not appear due to a rights issue.

    Professor Perry is played by David Warner. David Warner voiced Ras Al Ghul in BTAS. Batman Vs TMNt movie confirmed! Lol

    I think for the new turtles movie (Should it be a trilogy) should try this version of the Utroms story again and actully follow through. Utroms were always something you built up for in past series and to reveal a character we've known since the first or second film was an Utrom the whole time, building up to an eventual 'Dimension X' movie, would be amazing to see with a movie budget.

    I think the utrom story line would of been great. I wish we could ignore the 3rd movie and get a legitimate sequel to the first 2

      I bet there would have been a lot of confusion among Children because they would have assumed Professor Perry was Krang! Some people would have said they retconned Krang to be a good guy! IT would have been Confusing because most children only knew the 87 cartoons and not the original story! I was a kid when this came out and the thing that confused me was Raphael Character, the cartoon had him as the wisecracking jokester but the Movie had him as an angry hot head and I was like WTF did they do to Raphael? The Utrom thing would have really confused me back then

      No, it would have sucked just like the 3rd one did. Its a good thing they kept the plot down to earth like the first one.

      @tyrone kinard I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I am looking at this from my perspective as an 11-year-old boy who only exposure to the Turtles was 87 Cartoon and the Archie Comic version of TMNT. I had no idea the original Turtles were the Mirage Comic version or their original story. So from my perspective and other 11-year-olds and younger perspective If they saw an Utron inside of Dr. Perry they would have assumed it was Krang and that they changed him from and Evil Villain to a good guy! I don't think the 87 cartoons ever called Krang an Utrom so I would have been lost if they put that in the movie, Just like I was lost when they had Raphael's original Personality in the movies! I am not saying he would be Krang I am saying the kids of the 90s would be confused about who he was.

      @@sonnywoods6846 exactly. Although the Krang character was based off of the Utroms as one can obviously see; instead of the cartoon focusing on the whole race of them, mixed with a too complex back story for the kids of the day, (1980s and 90s) they decided to just make one Utrom-like character to add to the villains and have a great dynamic with the cartoon Shredder. It still worked well in the end.

    I remember reading somewhere that it was Laird who refused to let Bebop and Rocksteady into the film. Those characters were part of the Fred Wolf cartoon, and not the original comic. Laird said he hated the characters and refused to let them in the movie. Thanks, Laird. Way to give the fans what they want.

    i have always had this feeling that right after the scene where shredder returns and says there is only one thing left, revenge. the scene after, the tone of the movie shifts to a even more lighter form.

    It seems like the studios interference ultimately derailed the 1990s TMNT franchise. Yes it's obvious they were trying to tie the story to Krang, Dimension X and other mutants. But instead of sending the turtles on fantastic off-world adventures in the 3rd film, they copped out and went with a lame time travel idea. Probably due to budget constraints.

    I heard that the reason they change the idea of Jordan Perry of being an Utrom (which I like) it's because they worried the audience mistaken the Utrom as Krang.

    In the early 2000s, there was talk of making a Turtles 4 (direct sequel to this series) and it was going to open with Shredder coming back and Leo cutting his head off (they said they wanted it to be pg13). I can't remember if they said it would then go into Krang territory.....but boy I wish they had made it.

    If there ever was a TMNT 4, I would love to see a Reverse Flash type of roll where he acts like a good guy then at the end he can turn against the turtles. They should have put at least a post credit scene for that cliffhanger but a different setting. I would love to see the original Krang voice actor for the voice if TMNT 4. The idea Would have been cool if Dr. Perry revealed his actual identity.

  • @kidwajagstang
    @kidwajagstang 4 роки тому

    I think that if the movie had introduced Krang at some point in the movie as the one that desperately wants what remains of the ooze, and since Krang was already familiar to kids that watched the TV show, then the reveal of the Professor as a similar creature, but have some indication that it’s a “good guy” against Krang, wouldn’t have been as “confusing” as it would have been with just a random reveal of the creature in his torso seemingly without prior setup. If they HAD done that, immediately kids would have thought he was Krang and therefore a bad guy after all. That’s why it would have been crucial they should have had another scene earlier on establishing this extra-dimensional species and that they were fighting their own war with Krang as the evil leader and the Professor as the good guy faction’s leader or highly respected part of the good guy’s team.
