Look at that. 6 Years later and this video is still being used. I, myself with 6 years in this industry found this video and it made the job effortless.
Thank you, for this one I felt keeping it long was best. I was really putting it off for fear of damaging my interior only to find it truly was do able without any lasting effect... Except an awesome shifter of course...
@@WorkPlayDrive 5 years later... your video helped me over come that same fear! Installed mine yesterday and love how it enhances the driving experience😎👍🇺🇲
I remember doing this install and watching this video while doing it with my dad a few years ago on our ‘18 T/A 392, and how helpful the video was, and how thankful he was for it. I remember him telling me to leave a comment and say how helpful the video was, but I never did, so I figured I would now. He has since passed and he didn’t get to drive a ton with the shifter on, but I am the only one who knows how to drive manual in my close family even though I only got my permit a few months back, so I take it out a few times a week with my mom. The shifter feels great and the throw is incredibly short, and would definitely say it’s a very worthy modification. Thank you again for this video it was a savior during the installation.
Sorry for the loss of your dad, I lost mine a few years back and I was so thankful for the time I had with him working on our cars during his last few years. Enjoy the car and the memories. I’m glad I was able to help you guys out 💪
I installed this today and I am literally blown away with how much better it feels. And now my shifter is adjusted to exactly my arm length which makes all the shifts absolutely perfect. You video made it a breeze and I had it installed and adjusted in about 2 hours, so just want to say thanks a million for documenting and sharing here 😎👍
Thank you, one of the things that really helped me in making videos is taking note of all the issues I had trying to find good install videos myself. You will enjoy this upgrade, The Barton is totally worth the $$ and effort to install.
Your video helped me out a lot! This is probably the only video that is out there for current manual challengers. They’ve made some cooler revisions on their latest model. Now the part where the shifter sits can be adjusted forward or backward too.
Soo I was driving and out of nowhere I had no gear shifter. Just all slush. I later realized I could kinda slop it into gear if I was really careful. Well I finally pull the shifter and the 10mm bolt and both clips had broken off and jettisoned out. Idk how this happened but I'm sure glad I didn't keep driving it like that. Jeeeeze. This video is a life saver. Literally
Doing my 2022 challenge. There are some very minor differences. This video saved me so much time and aggravation. I don't know if I could do it without it. Thanks for one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen.
Hey just wanted to say thank God for people like you with the patience you have and skills to teach as you are working - it truly helps the rest of us out that want to do things like this - great job on all your install video's and again thank you ...
Just installed the Barton in my 2015 Scat Pack. Your video was spot on and far superior to any others I found. You covered everything from beginning to end and definitely saved me a bunch of time on the install. As it was it took me 5 hours, but I'm a bit OCD myself. The manufacturer included no instructions with the shifter and their install video was low quality and did not help at all, but then in was for earlier year models. As excellent as their product is ... and it's fantastic! ... they really should update their video or better yet insert a link to yours! I expected that right side pin to be the toughest problem ... and it was exceptionally difficult ... and so was getting that 10mm bolt out due to the Loctite ... but I actually spent more time trying to get that round rubber boot to stay properly in place when put over the shifter block! Again, outstanding video and commentary and I highly recommended it to any contemplating this install. Kudos!
Thank you, I'm glad this helped. I did see a lack of info on this when I was researching the Barton so I tried my best to put out a detailed stable cam install. The only thing I was lacking was some grease for those pins ;) It's definitely a great product and has helped my times on the 1/4 mile quite a bit. I was a little nervous about the investment, but it's proven itself very nicely.
As much time as we spend shifting, the Barton is a no-brainer. It makes the car SOOO much better. Well worth the admission Price. Thank you a million times over for your video. I've installed many shifters, none as difficult as this one. Your video is the best install video online for this mod. Period. Thank you!
Received my Barton yesterday and just installed, took about 2 hours due to your awesome video, thank you so much, really is a huge difference than the original shifter.
Fantastic video. Step by step install. I just installed a Baton Shifter into my 2017 T/A 392. This video was spot on. Thank you for making this video! You saved my bacon since Barton didn’t have squat for install instructions so far as I saw on their website!
Just bought my 2015 hellcat a month ago and already noticed the shifter would be a problem. Watched a couple videos and I think you have the best Barton install guide, I will be ordering mine in a month and using your video to take me to the promise land. Thank you!
thanks so much for the video. i knocked mine out last night in about 90 mins. No scratches, no snapped clips. for some reason after watching you explain how to work with those pin locks, they were very easy for me to get both off and back on. 🤘
Thanks for the video instructions mine arrived Monday 23 of March 2020 and put it in that night .There were no instructions of any kind with it . I had however watched this video several weeks ago and watched it again before I installed it . One thing I did different than you was I removed the pin on the drivers side then slide the one on the passenger side back just enough to pull the shifter out with a finger keeping it from comming out and pushed it in to be sure it didn't fall out while I got ready to put the new in as I started to put it in I pushed the pin flush with the surface put the drivers side in first then pressed passenger side in never having to try to start it back in that tiny space . Barton should be giving you a comission . I don't think I would have bought one had I not seen your video. Thanks again Larry
My Barton shifter came in today and easily installed it thanks to your help, loving it and is just as you said “night and day difference” thanks for the recommendation and the video guide made it a breeze.👌🏼
A great walkthrough of the process. Your calm voice and your down-to-earth-behavior made this very enjoyable to watch! Contrary to a lot of other Muscle Car related content. Thank you! I plan to install one next spring and with your help I should do just fine!
Just installed mine, i remember seeing your video 2 years ago and thinking i might not be able to do it but i just installed mine today and after rewatching your video it really is easy. Thabks for the help. Sure this video will keep helping others like me.
I installed a Barton on my 2015 Scat Pack using these instructions. Thank you! I think this is the best install guidance on UA-cam. One thing I did different that is useful - rather than trying to jam my fingers into the tiny opening on the passenger side on the shifter base to install that pesky pin, I used a set of long needle nose pliers to grip the pin, put it in place, and start seating it. Once I got it started I used my hand to finish pushing the pin in. Anyway, thanks for the video. I miss your Scat Pack, I know everyone wants a Hellcat eventually but the Scat is a pretty solid in drivability, cost, and performance. I’ve subscribed to your channel, there are still a lot of good helps there.
Just installed my Barton shifter. Watching your video helped me understand how to get the console apart without breaking anything. The right side pin actually wasn't too bad. Had more trouble getting the gasket to stay in place on the cover while trying to get it over the shifter assembly. You probably already know about this, but in case you don't- the problem Dan Kowalchick mentioned 4 months ago about Allen bolts is a revision Barton made to the design of the shifter. It now allows for a fore/aft adjustment in addition to the left right. Took my R/T Shaker out for a test drive and OMG it is a night & day difference. Thanks for an excellent video and keep them coming.
Glad it helped, I met up with the Barton guys over in Texas at We are Mopar and saw the new design... Looks like I've got another upgrade planned for the winter :)
Just wanted to give a big thank you! Just finished my Barton install and your video really helped me a lot. I know you put some real work into making it, and I very much appreciate it!
Hey work play drive! I just did the install and to say I was extremely nervous was an understatement. As I'm not very mechanically inclined I was scared as all hell. The install took me about five hours with watching your video and pausing after every step. Needless to say I got it done and I'm as happy as can be. I also want to thank you for showing off that rad shift knob. I ended up ordering one as well with the scat pack logo on the side and the two rally stripes. So again I really appreciate you and your videos on youtube they've helped me tremendously. I'm forever grateful man thank you very much kind sir!
I'm glad I could help, I am mechanically inclined however there is a certain fear about taking apart the car you love. After about a year of ownership I just started experimenting and putting up videos in hopes that others would see the work ahead and maybe have the confidence to tackle it themselves. It's nice to hear it's working :)
I was eyeing one of these and just did the install today, holy cow it really does reduce the shift throws, but now the whole thing feels like a very precise mechanism. Overall love it. The tip for pulling up by the cup holders was awesome, as I also hate trim removal tools. Hot tip for you, this is something I tried during the removal process (see around 14:15 on this video). To get the second pin out, the one on the right, I actually lifted the whole shifter mechanism and moved it up and forward out of the way. This lets you get at the pin from underneath and there's a lot more room to get your hand in there. Made it a lot easier for me, there was no way I was getting that pin out otherwise. This was also just preference, but when it came to removing the center column, I just lifted it out and set it in the back seat, with the passenger seat angled forward. Thanks for the video, excellent walk through!
I just finished up switching out my stock shifter for a new Barton thanks to your video. It was the reason I considered switching and pulling the trigger on getting one. The swap definitely was a pain in some areas but following along with your video certainly made it easier. Funny thing was that right side pin was the easiest part for me. It just slipped right in after struggling for 5 minutes with the left one lol. But thanks a lot for putting this video together. Also, thanks for the speed dog reference as well. I got a nice scat pack shifter that matched up perfectly.
So, using exactly every step of your video, I got this shifter in my Challenger in about 1 hour. Outstanding instruction. I also ordered my Barton with the pistol grip and the ball style but currently using the grip. It's night and day with crisp shifts now.
Just completed this install two hours ago. Thanks very much for the video! I wouldn't have attempted this without it. Barton's super tight when shifting, still have my leather boot cover off for adjustments, you can here a lot more engine grunt without it! Also installed the skip shift delete at the same time using your video. Thanks again!
I just installed my Barton shifter in my 2016 Scat pack. Using your video.. it went flawlessly. Great job on the video. That passenger side pin it tough but I finally got it. Thanks for the fantastic video.
Watched this about four times. Ordered Barton Shifter, and Speeddawg Black Carbon fiber shift knob for my 2021 ScatPack Widebody. Awesome video. Very well done. Probably will watch one more time before install.
I'm so glad you put this video up. I just bought the last year Challenger Hellcat on Saturday and put 700 miles on it right away. It can really use a better shifter and I heard the Barton was great. I'll be getting one in the next month! Thanks for the tutorial
Finally! After wading through 5 other install videos (including the Barton video), they were all for pre-2015 Challengers with the plastic retainer for the boot. Finally saw this one, and cutting that o-ring worked great! Yeah, with the leather that thick, you can't work the boot all the way down, but I see that yours fit they way it did on my 2018. Great tip!
Mine just come in yesterday. I went through like 3 videos before I found yours. Bro I was so nervous and you took all the nervous away. I’ll be installing tomorrow. Also definitely gonna check your channel for and mod videos before checking anywhere else. Thanks dude!
Installed mine last weekend. Fitting the metal plate with the rubber Barton bushing over the shifter was a pain in the ass! Thanks for the video, It took the guess work out of everything.
Work Play Drive Love the shifter, the knob is terrible. Gonna order one of the SpeedDawg knobs. You’re right about Barton needing to team up with them. You still rockin the pistol grip?
Just got a Barton for Christmas and about to start this process right now, thanks for the good video man! Also Barton finally had colored shift sticks again for anyone who was waiting for them to come back!
Had the original prototype when they first hit the scene. Blows away Hurst. The shifts are positive and complete and makes owning a 6 shooter all the worth while. You will not destroy this shifter, period. Great job all around. So far your videos have influenced my purchases, and made them easier to understand and install.
Glad to help in some way. I've been wanting the Barton for over a year, but the cost was always hindering the purchase. After a few failed shifts into 4th at the strip I decided to go for it. 2 weeks to track night, wish me luck.
Work Play Drive best of luck. If you get a chance to review Tuning may I suggest Sean over @ Hemifever. So far one guy is running 11.21 with nothing more than CAI, drags, Throttle body, catless, thermostat. Several into the 11's.
Nice, I'll keep that in mind, no tuning this year. The big ticket items I need to save some cash for and this year I'm redirecting my budget to my wife who wants a new Kitchen. She deserves it, she's been so patient with my "car problem"
Work Play Drive I received my Barton a couple of days ago and was looking around for some install videos when I ran into yours. Your how to was on point. Easy to follow. Boy, what a HUGE difference with this shifter. Thanks for the great videos! Liked and subscribed! 👍👍👍👍
Seven years later and this video is still UA-cam gold! Thank you, my friend! A few minor differences on my '23, but overall, still the best on the net!
@@hotrodxok11All the big stuff was exactly the same. If I remember right, there’s a rubber piece that goes around the bottom that wasn’t marked and looked different than the vid. Nothing major, just took a minute to figure out which way it was supposed to go (and get it on where it would stay). They’ve revised the shifter assembly for more adjustments since this video, too. That’s all I remember. Still a great video to use.
Great video. Just installed my Barton yesterday and it made a huge difference. getting the pin in on the right side was way easier from underneath my Scat Pack. Thanks again great video.
Thank you for making this. Only thing I did different was install those lock pins from underneath the car to save myself the frustration. Much, much easier.
Well it took me longer than 45 minutes, try a few hours. Thank you for the video, I wouldn’t have known about the shifter and I doubt I’d be able to do it without the guide. I did this in combination with a clutch delay valve delete. For anyone wondering if it’s worth it, it is. The car is a whole different animal now. I’m honestly worried about getting tickets, it feels like I added 200 horsepower. You don’t realize how bad the stock shifter is until you put this amazing price of engineering in.
So, that was quite instructional and thorough. I'm new to the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Plus Shaker 6 speed manual and I'm really enjoying it. That Barton shifter looks awesome. I would really like it in orange just like the one you installed. That is way too much taking apart for me to do. I'm going to hit the like button.
THANK YOU!! Your method install worked perfectly! I did flip thr rear rubber "bushing block" on the rear with the bolts forward because that's how Barton showed it. I'm not sure ot matters. A+ job on making something so helpul!
I just completed the install on my 2018 Hellcat following your video. Everything fell into place like clockwork. Test drive, amazing shifter. Runs through the gears much smoother, precise, even reverse is so much easier to find. Great job on video. Tip; If you place a towel underneath the shifter before removing the pins it can save you if you drop one:)
Great job on the video...... I would not have attempted taking my interior console on my beloved Challenger Hellcat apart without this video. I only snapped 1 clip off from the shifter boot. The difference with this shifter is night and day.👍
Excellent video! Just finished installing mine, your video was spot on. Only help I needed was getting the ball off the original shifter, was too tight for me to break free. On the right side pin I put a wire tie thru the clip because I kept dropping it under the car, maybe because my long nails. I'm a short person so I set mine all the way over to the left and the forward most position. What a difference this shifter makes! I also got the skip shift delete pigtail thinking I could reach through and put it on at the same time, no such luck. I'll have to do that another day from underneath. Pair this shifter with the clutch delay valve delete and your shift/response times improve drastically!
Bro! Just got finished about 10 minutes ago installing my Barton onto my '16 Challenger SRT. I used your vid 100%. Awesome work! You also got me into the SpeedDawg knobs. I got the Rally with Challenger script, GoMango with black racing stripes, black flat stick with GoMango Barton engraving. Came out SWEET! Love your vids man!
@@WorkPlayDrive is the road noise coming directly below the shifter? Maybe that’s the rattling I hear but it might just be road noise. It’s annoying because with the original shifter I never heard anything coming from the shifter. And now anytime I accelerating i hear noise. If I put the gear in neutral there’s no noise. The noise is when it’s in gear, or when I’m accelerating (even if it’s in neutral). I’m thinking the guy who put it left a screw loose or put a rubber in backwards or something. It’s driving me crazy lol
I have a Barton and plan on swapping it out tomorrow morning. This video helped me decide to pull the trigger on it. Thanks and subbed. I can say aside from how it performs that it is a beautiful piece of engineering and machining.
Awesome video. I got my Barton in yesterday and watched this video last night. Just got done with the install a few hours ago. This shifter is amazing. Made my 15 SRT so much better. Again thanks for the content.
Thx for your most comprehensive video. I just got my shifter and Barton’s install instructions are online and for the challenger it is for the 1st generation that is 7yr old. So your video was a godsend
Your video made it easy to the Barton with confidence. I've watched the video many times and finally made the plunge on a Black Friday special for 15% off, it was a deal I could not pass up. Thanks for sharing this man it is much appreciated. Now on to other mods.
Thank you for this video. I never would have gotten my shifter installed without it! The instructions I found on the Barton website were for 2014 and down, and there are some differences. My shifter came with 2 tiny set screws. I have no idea what to do with them.
Awesome video! Watched it before buying my Barton so I'd be confident that I could install it without butchering my car. Taking the console out was a scary thought until I watched you do it. Thanks for making it look as easy as it really was. Watched it while installing mine today and had no problems. Note to all, it's easier to take the knob and boot off before pulling the console! Thanks again!
Fantastic video! My son mentioned getting a Barton shifter for his 2014 SRT and I was leery about tearing into it. No worries now! I like the little guy helping at the end. Before you know it he'll be wanting to drive it. Brings back memories! Thanks for putting this out there.
Bought my 15 challenger scatpack a few months back and this was installed on it ! haha was surprised to see I didn't have to do this mod! great vid btw!
@@WorkPlayDrive seriously can't thank you enough, no other video even came close. This shifter is a game changer, makes it feel like I've got a whole new transmission, clutch and flywheel.
Just installed shifter. I didn't even know there was a better shifter until I viewed your video. 2016 r/t scat pack 6.4L. If people purchase after black Friday they are giving a discount, I saved about $60. I'm subscribed, love all of your videos. Now if I can just find a video of a supercharger being installed...
I ordered and received a Barton for my 392 T/A. I watched this vid a few weeks ago. I rewatched it tonight before I installed mine. I ran into no problems due to this vid. I knew the tool I needed going into it and all the little tricks for and easy removal / install. Great video!
Thanks. I just wanted to say, I was able to put my barton shifter in my 2020 widebody manual with ease due to this video. Thanks. I did not video it but I did take pictures. I will conduct a walk through soon about the mods and updates to the vehicle. Thanks. And I am a subscriber.
2/19/18 Just installed my Barton shifter and Speed Dawg knob in my 2015 Challenger Scat Pack, thanks to your video gave me the confidence to do it myself, took me longer but that's ok lol thanks again, keep making awesome UA-cam videos!
Awesome and good luck. My recommendation is to put a towel or some cardboard under the car so as you drop tools and those annoying clips you can easily slide it out to retrieve them
Just received my Barton with black & white speed dawg rally ball for my 2015 Challenger Scat. Your install video is incredibly detailed, well done. Thanks a bunch.
OMG! NEW SUBSCRIBER! I don't know how I've had my challenger for 2 years and am just now discovering your content. I purchased the Barton shifter recently and upon challengertalk.com recommendation followed your video to do my own install. Thank you so much!
I pulled the trigger! I bought the Barton shifter cause of your video looking forward to installing it using this awesome step by step process. Keep it going love the vids
Another great video ! I did not watch all 48 but I did watch the beginning until you started and then fast forwarded to the part where you brought in the helper !
Can you get Adaptive Cruise Control for an option on the 392 Challenger manuals? You appear to have the ACC on your steering wheel like in my 2012 R/T Max Charger but, Dodge’s website kicks me over to the Auto Transmission when I choose the ACC option. You are literally driving my dream car and I had given up hope not seeing ACC on all the 392 Challenger 6M videos I had been researching.
From what I understand it's not possible to have ACC and a manual, the additional button on my steering wheel I installed a while back. Using the zAutomotive Tazer I am able to map these buttons to specific functions.
I’m in the same boat. Ordering my Barton this weekend. Ordered my car July 20th, it’s being shipped from the factory on 8/26 - so psyched. Your video was amazing - it’s given me the confidence to tackle this project. 👍🏻😎
Bought a new 2017 392 T/A, Just started also realizing that a upgraded shifter is a must. Found your video, good job you where very thorough and it will come in handy since the last shifter that I re installed was on my 1970 pistol grip 4 speed 440 Six Pack Challenger. Thanks for your time and a well done video! I look forward to my own shifter upgrade this spring! Let us know how it performs at the track!
I just did this today and this freakin thing is brutally tight LOL especially 1 and 2 gear but after first ride I can tell I start to love it !!! . 3 Hours job slowly with this video. Yeah ,this right pin looked like mission impossible due to my large hands and saw this pump jack coming but miracle :) .Thanks a lot for video
I bought a used Cat and it has the Barton. Love rhe short throw but whoever installed it has it angled forward and to the left. I need to adjust it to a neutral position since it is very difficult to hit 5th.
Just wanted to say thank you for doing such a great install video, I used it start to finish to install my own. You should be proud of the job you did on this video. Thank you for your help!
I’m ordering this later this week. I’m so excited and can’t wait! I can not tell you how much I hate the stock scat pack challenger shifter. I always have issues from 1st to 2nd gear every time I’m pushing it. I’ve had over 6 Manuel cars and the challenger stock shifter is by far the worst one I’ve ever owned. It’s frustrating to say the least. My car is a 16 w 33k miles on it and has 1 owner other then myself. I got it w 27k and this car has been babied and taken care of. My point is It’s just a horrible shifter imo so I’m looking forward to getting this one.
It doesn’t matter how well taken care of the car is when the shifter sucks straight from the factory 😂😂😂. I absolutely loved the shifter. This is one of those mods that pays you back every time you drive the car.
Thank you for this excellent video. Just finished install of my Barton shifter with your help. The car I did the install on, Is the T/A 392 that you used to make the video of over at Ramsey Dodge.
My 15yr old son and I installed our Barton shifter yesterday. Our Challenger is a 2012 R/T so the console and steps were slightly different but similar. Funny how we did many of the same goofs like leaning on the console when it was removed LOL. Took us about 3-hours but that's because we took our time and really made sure to go at it slowly. WOW! This shifter is amazing and defiantly what should have come with the Challenger. It's a tad bit more noisy with the gears but that makes it more raw and cool. I know it didn't make the car faster but it sure feels like it when being able to shift much more positive. Thank you for your time showing us laymen how to do things we never would be able to do without video instruction. Curious, you installed the rear bracket bolts facing rear and in post Barton suggested that was correct. I installed with bolts facing forward as their video suggested. Do you know why the bolts need to be rear vs. front? Is it for noise distribution?
Thank you and glad to help. It's awesome to hear you installed with your son, I'm thankful for all the things my dad has taught me. maybe not so much at the time, but all of it has come in handy once I went off on my own. When I called Barton to question the Bolts they never explained why, they just confirmed the way I installed them is their new preferred method. which means both are correct ...I guess. I too noticed the added noise when in lower gears. Some go nuts installing sound proofing, but like you I enjoy the sounds she makes.
Yes it was awesome installing the shifter with my son. We dove in playing to win and came out victorious. Now the kid is itching to drive even more. Soon enough, soon enough... I emailed Barton requesting more info on why the rear bracket needs to be installed bolts rear. I was a tad bit worried about the increased gear noise just because I thought it may have been installed wrong but realistically it's sounds like what a high performance car should sound like. I will follow up if Barton has any technical reasons for the bolts facing rear. Members in my car club state installing bolts rear and bolts front with no difference in sounds or performance [shrug]. Thank you as always for making these videos and inspiring us to do more on our awesome cars. It does make my wife jealous and she states from time to time "You rub that car more than you rub me".
See the trick is to play with the car when the wife is a sleep 😉 this way she doesn’t get jealous. My son now 6 hangs out any helps. I was thinking of seeing how far he can get with changing the oil. He knows what tools are what and knows how to use them. If you hear anything technical from Barton please feel free to share
Called Barton and spoke to Joe today about which way the bolts should face on the rear bracket. Turns out either way is right, it's all bout how much noise there is in post of the install. He said to always start with the bolts facing forward. Then if you have excessive noise put it facing rear. If noise persists then loosen the rear bracket pan bolt and wiggle the shifter to get it to sit in a more neutral position, then tighten the rear bracket pan bolt back up. If noise persists they will send out a special foam piece that will finish off the job. Additionally he noted that putting this shifter on 5 different cars with the same make and model will give 5 different results. The trick is to not install the shifter stiff, but wiggle it around during and after you tighten the bolts. This will allow the shifter to fall into the most neutral and loose position giving the best performance and low noise result. Also for those who are interested in putting a SpeedDawg ball on your Flat Stick the thread size is 12mm x 1.25 and if you want to buy a different color Flat Stick with engraved color it's $80 shipped with a matching ball. Hope this helps clear somer things up...
I don't own a Barton shifter kit, I don't even own a Challenger but I gently pressed that like button for the rainbows the 'R' stands for! :)
Pinned - Best comment so far :)
Work Play Drive That scene literally made my day.
I hope you have a great day as well! :)
:) Thank you That kid makes my day regularly
I gotta' good chuckle outta' the Lad's comment too.😁
Look at that. 6 Years later and this video is still being used. I, myself with 6 years in this industry found this video and it made the job effortless.
Thank You 🫡
I really like how you walk the viewer thru the process step by step......you make it seem doable for anyone. Great video.
💪 this is still one of the modifications that had the biggest impact.
You video made it a breeze and I had it installed and adjusted in about 2 hours, so just want to say thanks a million for documenting and sharing here 😎👍
Thank you for dropping the kind words 💪
Gonna have to watch this couple times then get courage to do this plus the 500 bucks lol
It’s definitely worth it, something I enjoyed every time I drove the car.
WOW! A rare individual who walks you through an actual install! Great Job! I will be using this as a reference for my Barton upgrade! Thank -You
Thank you, one of the things that really helped me in making videos is taking note of all the issues I had trying to find good install videos myself.
Thank you I appreciate the kind words.
Father’s Day 2023 brought me a Barton…. Great installation video. Thanks for doing this - you couldn’t have explained/demonstrated any clearer.
Thank you and happy belated Father’s Day
Hey just wanted to say thank God for people like you with the patience you have and skills to teach as you are working - it truly helps the rest of us out that want to do things like this - great job on all your install video's and again thank you ...
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words.
You summed it up! Just installed on my TA 392 and those were all the same problems I had. Right pin and getting the boot to stay still lol.
Robert Lugo 👍
As much time as we spend shifting, the Barton is a no-brainer. It makes the car SOOO much better. Well worth the admission Price. Thank you a million times over for your video. I've installed many shifters, none as difficult as this one. Your video is the best install video online for this mod. Period. Thank you!
5 years later this video is still relevant ty
Thank you 😊
Received my Barton yesterday and just installed, took about 2 hours due to your awesome video, thank you so much, really is a huge difference than the original shifter.
Awesome 💪 glad to help
Fantastic video. Step by step install. I just installed a Baton Shifter into my 2017 T/A 392. This video was spot on. Thank you for making this video!
You saved my bacon since Barton didn’t have squat for install instructions so far as I saw on their website!
Thank you, glad to help💪
Just bought my 2015 hellcat a month ago and already noticed the shifter would be a problem. Watched a couple videos and I think you have the best Barton install guide, I will be ordering mine in a month and using your video to take me to the promise land. Thank you!
Nice you won’t be disappointed.
Outstanding video buddy, literally followed it step by step and threw one in my 21 scat pack shaker. What an upgrade, thanks for the assist!
Glad to help.
thanks so much for the video. i knocked mine out last night in about 90 mins. No scratches, no snapped clips. for some reason after watching you explain how to work with those pin locks, they were very easy for me to get both off and back on. 🤘
Thank you, those can be a pain of you're not sure how they work, glad that helped you out.
Glad to help 👍
A great walkthrough of the process. Your calm voice and your down-to-earth-behavior made this very enjoyable to watch! Contrary to a lot of other Muscle Car related content.
Thank you! I plan to install one next spring and with your help I should do just fine!
Thank you, Glad to help
This video is fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Barton short throw shifters are badass! Took me about 2.5 hours total.
Thank you glad to help 💪
Just installed mine, i remember seeing your video 2 years ago and thinking i might not be able to do it but i just installed mine today and after rewatching your video it really is easy. Thabks for the help. Sure this video will keep helping others like me.
Thank you
I installed a Barton on my 2015 Scat Pack using these instructions.
I miss the scat pack too. My next challenger will be a manual 392. 🧡
I just saw this video the part starts at 43 min in. Your explanation and your patience speaks volumes. You're awesome my friend.
Thank you, It's been so long I had to go back and re-watch ;)
The Barton Speeddawg combo is so Awesome and glad it helped.
Overall you will hear a little more sound from that area once installed. But nothing loud enough that bothered me for the 3 years I had it.
Love the video. Someone with no mechanical skills could watch this video and complete this swap.
Thank you, that was the goal to encourage the beginner to tackle this themselves.
Im a mechanic u need a little skill. U made it look easy.
I just installed my Barton shifter in my 2016 Scat pack. Using your video.. it went flawlessly. Great job on the video. That passenger side pin it tough but I finally got it. Thanks for the fantastic video.
Awesome 👏 and glad to help.
Watched this about four times. Ordered Barton Shifter, and Speeddawg Black Carbon fiber shift knob for my 2021 ScatPack Widebody.
Awesome video. Very well done. Probably will watch one more time before install.
Thank you 😊
sick, throwing one on my 2023 Scatpack🦾
Do it!!!!!!!
I'm so glad you put this video up. I just bought the last year Challenger Hellcat on Saturday and put 700 miles on it right away. It can really use a better shifter and I heard the Barton was great. I'll be getting one in the next month! Thanks for the tutorial
Thank you and congratulations 🎈
I have no doubt you will love the drive even more with the Barton installed. 💪
Tomorrow's project is to install my Barton. My tablet with your video will be on the dash guiding me through. Wish me luck.
Great tip!
Thank you
Mine just come in yesterday. I went through like 3 videos before I found yours. Bro I was so nervous and you took all the nervous away. I’ll be installing tomorrow. Also definitely gonna check your channel for and mod videos before checking anywhere else. Thanks dude!
Thank you, I had the same issue finding a good video, this was what drove me to make this video.
Seriously, I guess I could have installed this without the video - but why? Your walkthrough made it a piece of cake. Thanks and great job.
Thank you!
well spoken, greatly explained, well done. thanks.
Thank you
I didn’t even realize this was a 48 min video until you said something 😂 great video with keeping us engaged and showing us a badass shift kit man 👍🏼
Thank you 🙏
Installed mine last weekend. Fitting the metal plate with the rubber Barton bushing over the shifter was a pain in the ass! Thanks for the video, It took the guess work out of everything.
glad to help, how do you like the shifter?
Work Play Drive
Love the shifter, the knob is terrible. Gonna order one of the SpeedDawg knobs. You’re right about Barton needing to team up with them. You still rockin the pistol grip?
Agreed 👌
Just got a Barton for Christmas and about to start this process right now, thanks for the good video man! Also Barton finally had colored shift sticks again for anyone who was waiting for them to come back!
Thank you and I’m glad they brought them back. I kept mine for my next challenger just in case 😏
Thank you and glad to help. Barton was an awesome upgrade to my car.
Seven years later and this video is still UA-cam gold! Thank you, my friend! A few minor differences on my '23, but overall, still the best on the net!
What was different? If you don't mind me asking? I have a 21 T/A and was thinking about getting one
Thank you ! Absolutely next time I install I’m definitely going underneath.
Thank you for making this. Only thing I did different was install those lock pins from underneath the car to save myself the frustration. Much, much easier.
Yep that would have been easier …next time 💪
Well it took me longer than 45 minutes, try a few hours.
It really is a great product, worth the effort of install. :)
Thank you and thanks for my first ever Super Thanks! 🙏
@@WorkPlayDrive what? No way! Your videos are SUPER HELPFUL! A cup of coffee as a thanks? It's a bargain!
Ha ha !😆 a cup of coffee is my going rate for helping out my local friends too!
Glad to helped and awesome tip!!
I dropped those pins about 6 times. I had a long wooden handle that I used to sweep them back to me.
How did you get a Barton setup on a hellcat? The Hellcat only comes in automatic big dog.
The challenger hellcat comes in a manual and auto 🤔.
Great job on the video...... I would not have attempted taking my interior console on my beloved Challenger Hellcat apart without this video.
I only snapped 1 clip off from the shifter boot. The difference with this shifter is night and day.👍
Glad to hell and I agree, the Barton Shifter made a significant impact on the car, I miss driving a manual quite often.
Thank You 🙏 the Barton is Definitely one of those modifications that you get to enjoy daily.
Thank you !!!! Glad to hale and you made some awesome choices on the colors.
Does yours have a slight rattle when accelerating?
Absolutely no rattling it was definitely much more stable. You do here a little bit more road noise but nothing annoying.
Glad I could help and I agree it's is one beautiful piece.
@@WorkPlayDrive After installing it, I have not missed a single shift. I advocate for this shifter.
Awesome video. I got my Barton in yesterday and watched this video last night. Just got done with the install a few hours ago. This shifter is amazing. Made my 15 SRT so much better. Again thanks for the content.
Awesome man, it's one of those mods you get to experience over and over again while driving.
Thx for your most comprehensive video. I just got my shifter and Barton’s install instructions are online and for the challenger it is for the 1st generation that is 7yr old. So your video was a godsend
Thank you 😊
Your video made it easy to the Barton with confidence. I've watched the video many times and finally made the plunge on a Black Friday special for 15% off, it was a deal I could not pass up. Thanks for sharing this man it is much appreciated. Now on to other mods.
Glad to help in any way I can 💪
Thank you for this video.
Thank you 🙏 , taking off the console was my first fears with this car.
Fantastic video! My son mentioned getting a Barton shifter for his 2014 SRT and I was leery about tearing into it. No worries now! I like the little guy helping at the end. Before you know it he'll be wanting to drive it. Brings back memories! Thanks for putting this out there.
Thank you! Glad it helped!
Just put mine in a couple months ago. It's awesome. Thank you for the video.
Bought my 15 challenger scatpack a few months back and this was installed on it ! haha was surprised to see I didn't have to do this mod! great vid btw!
Thats awesome and Thank you
I just finished installing a Barton Short Throw Shifter in my 2019 Challenger 392. Thanks for your video, it was extremely helpful.
Thank you glad to help.
@@WorkPlayDrive seriously can't thank you enough, no other video even came close.
This shifter is a game changer, makes it feel like I've got a whole new transmission, clutch and flywheel.
Totally agree one of my favorite mods.
Just ordered my Barton shifter with pistol grip. Thanks for this video, looks pretty straight forward.
Thank you the supercharger is Next year 😂
Thanks, just got my second Scatpack. This is my first mid. Great video!
Thank you
I ordered and received a Barton for my 392 T/A. I watched this vid a few weeks ago. I rewatched it tonight before I installed mine. I ran into no problems due to this vid. I knew the tool I needed going into it and all the little tricks for and easy removal / install. Great video!
Awesome, glad to help and congrats on the T/A I'm in love with the T/A 392 and have been drooling over them since they came out.
I am installing my shifter now and they listened to you! It has a rubber band on the shifter boot! 2021 challenger scat pack
Yes 🙌 🎈
Thanks my friend I just finished installing my Barton and love it ! using your directions was super helpful thanks again
Thanks. I just wanted to say, I was able to put my barton shifter in my 2020 widebody manual with ease due to this video. Thanks. I did not video it but I did take pictures. I will conduct a walk through soon about the mods and updates to the vehicle. Thanks. And I am a subscriber.
Hey glad to help and congrats on that widebody🙌
@@WorkPlayDrive thanks
I see security in this video! 😅 what to unplug or where to install kill switch
Check out my video on the zAutomotive Tazer PIN lock ua-cam.com/video/iBhoitjCCVw/v-deo.htmlsi=_mOkxjLtMTuKn3Vk
2/19/18 Just installed my Barton shifter and Speed Dawg knob in my 2015 Challenger Scat Pack, thanks to your video gave me the confidence to do it myself, took me longer but that's ok lol thanks again, keep making awesome UA-cam videos!
Thanks for the great step by step procedure , I just ordered my Barton shifter last night because of your video. A+
Thank you!
Just installed my Barton shifter took 2 hrs I took my time everything went perfect followed your step by step What a huge difference ! Thanks.
Awesome it is a great upgrade 💪
Put mine on a 16 shaker today…very good directions you gave 👍
Thank you 🙏
I got this same shifter installed on my challenger and boy i love it big difference
Awesome 👏 this was one of my favorite mods.
Mine is suppose to arrive Friday, so I suppose ill be in my driveway Saturday with my iPad and this video to follow while I install. Thanks dude.
Awesome and good luck. My recommendation is to put a towel or some cardboard under the car so as you drop tools and those annoying clips you can easily slide it out to retrieve them
Now that's a REAL MAN S CAR!! AMAZING JOB BRO!!
Thank you 🙏
Just received my Barton with black & white speed dawg rally ball for my 2015 Challenger Scat. Your install video is incredibly detailed, well done. Thanks a bunch.
Glad to help I've been seeing a lot of Barton + Speed Dawg combos lately, it's like they were made for each other.
OMG! NEW SUBSCRIBER! I don't know how I've had my challenger for 2 years and am just now discovering your content. I purchased the Barton shifter recently and upon challengertalk.com recommendation followed your video to do my own install. Thank you so much!
Glad to have helped and welcome to the club 👏
I pulled the trigger! I bought the Barton shifter cause of your video looking forward to installing it using this awesome step by step process. Keep it going love the vids
Thank you, Barton was a great decision, still love mine.
Another great video ! I did not watch all 48 but I did watch the beginning until you started and then fast forwarded to the part where you brought in the helper !
lol the UA-cam DVR!
Work Play Drive given I own Camaro I watched the non install
I do the same watch if it doesn't apply to my car, I stop in to see what you guys are up to flop through the install then watch the reveal.
After watching this video, I think I’ll give it a go for my Scat. Great job dude 👍
Thank you 🙏
Finally got my Barton thanks to you.
Awesome. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Thanks. I watched the video a few times. I recently ordered my challenger. Just waiting for the car to finish getting built. Thanks for the video
Thank you 🙏
I’m in the same boat. Ordering my Barton this weekend. Ordered my car July 20th, it’s being shipped from the factory on 8/26 - so psyched. Your video was amazing - it’s given me the confidence to tackle this project. 👍🏻😎
Congrats 🍾 🎈 the only thing harder than waiting for the car is waiting for the first 500 miles to unlock the fun stuff.
Great install sir I admire your mechanical patience
Thank you 🙏
Bought a new 2017 392 T/A, Just started also realizing that a upgraded shifter is a must.
RGeraciOA5599 she did very well eliminating my issues from 3rd to 4th. Totally happy with my Barton. And 🙏
I just did this today and this freakin thing is brutally tight LOL especially 1 and 2 gear but after first ride I can tell I start to love it !!! . 3 Hours job slowly with this video. Yeah ,this right pin looked like mission impossible due to my large hands and saw this pump jack coming but miracle :) .Thanks a lot for video
Glad to help, enjoy.
Used this video to install one on my 2021 challenger 392. Very easy, thanks for the help
Thank you, glad to help
I bought a used Cat and it has the Barton. Love rhe short throw but whoever installed it has it angled forward and to the left. I need to adjust it to a neutral position since it is very difficult to hit 5th.
That’s a great part about the Barton, you can adjust it until you’re happy 💪
Just wanted to say thank you for doing such a great install video, I used it start to finish to install my own. You should be proud of the job you did on this video. Thank you for your help!
Thank you 🙏
I’m ordering this later this week.
I still dream about that car :) congrats and glad I could help!
Awesome video. I liked how gentle your son was trying to close the glove box. Shifter looks fantastic, would go good on my go mango scat.
Yeah man you won’t regret it. Thank you he respects the vehicles 💪
Hope this helps clear somer things up...
nice that's some serious detail I'm going to add it to the description so it does not get lost. Thank you!!!
