      There's one in Port Deposit too called the ghost or ghost runner. It sits near the river. I haven't seen it run yet, but it's long and runs triple engines. Big blocks. Looks sweet af. I'd love to take a ride in it and go balls out lol. Actually it's about an 1/8 mile or so from Lee's Landing grill and bar. Basically a small Marina. They always have some kinda hot rod boat or cigarette boat pulling in. I love those boats, just cost more than I'll ever afford lol

    My oldest brother had a 'go fast' for a couple of seasons, we all had boats, day runners and cruisers, thanks to our dad. It was in the late 80's, big block Chevy with a jet prop, it was fun to scream out across Lake Ontario, but that's all it was good for, going fast. He swapped it for a SeaRay, which was a lot more practical.

    I did not know there was a triple engine Apache. What power does it have?? There's a triple 1350 Fountain 47 in Sweden that's running almost 130mph. I think the Apache Firewater 47 and that 47Fountain are very close to the same weight and HP so their speeds should be almost equal.

    I don't know of an offshore race boat that can dance with an Apache 47' in 8'-10' seas; +! The only one that comes to mind is Cigarettes pre- 2000 46' Rough Rider; before their step hulls came into play. I was a proud owner of a Cigarette; INCREDIBLE BOAT. It would be quite the white water battle between both Apache & Cigarette; however, something tells me Apache would have the upper ✋. Huge fan of both boat companies; more so Apache now. No step hulls or euro flared transoms. I've always liked the traditional square/flat transoms; 24° ✋ made boats,,,,,,,😎.

      @George Lynch Dixon I recently listened to, I believe it was Skip from the factory; being asked about the Maurader. I forget where the interview took place; Ft. Lauderdale or Miami Boat Show or maybe that dealer Cigarette has in mid west; Missouri maybe? Anyway, he was somewhat surprisingly critical of the model as I remember. In fact, he was comparing it to whatever model that Cigarette was rolling out to replace it. He said something derogatory about it regarding how it handled rough seas @ high speeds; wobbled or rolled? I'd take a 2000 Rough Rider or that Apache 47' "Spirit of America" 7 days a week over anything new from Cigarette; just would!
      When it comes to boats; I'm a very much Olde School Guy. Apache, Bertram, Cigarette, Donzi, Formula & Magnum Marine hit perfection in the '80's. All they had to do, moving forward, was to continually update their interiors and of course install the latest & greatest whatever comes available in marine electronics. That's pretty much what Apache has done. Magnum went a lil' "Euro", probably had to; a majority of their customer base is in Europe. They still maintained the core line throughout all of their designs. These 2 companies have had the same owners; for decades! No euro flared transoms, no step hulls! I have friends who call me every once & awhile to talk me into going to the Newport, RI Boat Show or the Boston Boat Show. They get a lil ' frustrated when I say no. I keep explaining that the type boats I want; you won't find there! Perhaps I should be a bit more flexible I guess. Seeing the new marine electronics & Mercury Racing products would be fun.

      @@PKB94 Yup, on Thunder Alley. I had 3 brothers until recently, now 2. I had a Cigarette Firefox, one brother owned a 31' Bertram. The one who we recently lost owned a 27' Magnum CC. The 3rd one in the pecking order just bought a 1968 Formula F233 that he will be sending to Apache Powerboats to be fully restored. My father had a 1970 19' Formula with a 100 hp Evinrude, then a 1972 25' FBSF Bertram w/ a pair of Merc 165 I/O's. His final boat was a 1986 38' Bertram FBSF w/ CAT 3208's. Still have a couple of early 70's Whalers kicking around. Both had 2 stroke Merc 40's back in the day. As kids, had to have the max HP; right? Yup, the 40's were an "ABSOLUTE MUST"!!!,,,,,,,😅😂🤣😎. When repowering, we learned the Merc 40 hp 4 stroke is, I think, 70 - 80 lbs heavier than the 2 stroke. We surrendered; went with the Merc 30 hp's 4 strokes.
      Pretty passionate about boats, from the 80's as you can see! Ha! Yeah, in my opinion we owned 4/6 best boat companies; truly both fortunate & lucky in having done so, no doubt about it. So, 2 left to go: Before I die, I will own a Donzi Hornet III; boat has to be right though. It will be hopefully red, white racing stripe. Updated upholstery. Mercruiser Racing Bulldog (500 HP), CMI stainless steel headers, Latham steering & with any luck a TRS outdrive. Stereo? Whatever & whenever. Last but not least is Apache. Hoe to order a custom 1 off cc; within the next year. CANT WEEK. Just the mere thought of how it is going to look; wakes me up a couple of nights every week! Glad I'm not seeing anyone right now; she'd have me take away in The Cookie Truck; no doubt about it! You laugh, went out with this girl for 5 years; became engaged on year 5. Bought the Cigarette right around the time I asked " The Big Question". She slowly actually became "jealous" of the boat. I was accused of talking more about the 🔥🦊 in the water, than the 🦊 I was going to soon marry!?! After, the better part of 5 years together; we never made it to the alter 🤗 . For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to get the boat between us, as we walked down the aisle to get married,,,,,,,🤔 😅 😂 🤣 🤗 😎. So yeah, she was around for 5 years; the boat I had for 15 years. I'll be honest, I did 😭 when I sold it!!!

    • @brendanperry6429
      @brendanperry6429 2 роки тому

      @George Lynch Dixon Knowledge, no problem; just sharing what I've learned since the 80's when I bought my Cigarette Firefox (🔥🦊). I think it's still out there on the internet; type in Cigarette Firefox Images/pictures/pics? How my boat wound up out there George; I'll never know? Anyway, it's white w/ red/black/silver side stripes that find their way into the upholstery on the engine hatch pad. Yeah, I guess 1 could say it was, and still is recognized as being the "Dark Horse" or true "Bad Boy" from Thunder Alley! Bobby Saccenti started the ChiefPowerBoats.com company, the better part of 10 years ago I think 🤔? He's the President/CEO of the company. Mark McMannus shares the same titles President/CEO @ Apache Powerboats.com. Yes, Chief's do have step hulls; BUT, their steps are located on or about in the area, straight down from the logos. In essence, closer to the transom vs traditional step hulls which can be found in the center region of the boat. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the way Chief does it; vs how Cigarette, Donzi, Formula & Fountain do it? I do not know, I'm sure Bobby would be more than happy to field that question.
