the duo boon was definitely working, it's just pretty subtle against the whole blinding graphical effect

Your duo boon did work. I think it's just worded weirdly. The lightning strikes happen alongside the beams of light, which makes them very hard to notice, but if you pay attention to how quickly the damage adds up, it was definitely working. The Apollo cast alone does a good chunk of damage, but nowhere that much.
I did not expect a new NPC this episode. I figured Heracles would be the one for that zone. The PH art for her looks good, can't wait to see it when it's complete, then again neither can Reto it seems. I shouldn't be surprised Reto 'Gamer God' McGee has such based tastes.

You were mistaking the effect of the Duo boon with the base Zeus version, which strikes while the circle is active. The Duo strikes during the Apollo detonation effect. It was working just fine.
Duo Boons are also the only source of Aether affinity and we've seen some POWERFUL Chaos effects tied into that.
I won't say too much on how the chaos trials work, but if you haven't already tried them out, they're quite quick, because they only (at this stage) last for the length of the single area they mention in their description. So the ones that say Erebus literally only last until you beat Hecate and then you're done.

Hey, in case you didn't realize something about this aspect, since it's not worded the best, the way it actually works is that if you drop your regular cast, and then use your omega special to hit it, your cast will automatically turn into a fully charged omega cast, in the case of this duo boon, basically circumventing the cost.
That's the aspect of Charon, which he already used on a different run. This run is with the standard axe.

When it comes to boons not working together, I can confirm that Apollo's cast doesn't work with Demeter's boon that makes your cast follow you

I have a few questions, is chaos available on the surface? And Are all keepsakes available for unlock on this version? And do you think the first floor on the surface should be like the last floor on Hades 1 where you can do just a few rooms or all the rooms? Instead of being locked out of the rest of the rooms like they have it right now??
