The 4th row should have been 3 seperate seats with 3 seperate straps to each seat. That way you would be able to have 7, 8 or 9 seats configuration. The way kia has done it with one large cushion is limiting to have either 6 or 9 and nothing in between which is a huge design flaw.

What kind of kia carnival it's not a LX or a MPV
Wish if the front takes another seat in the middle like pick up trucks so it will fit for 9 people and the driver=10 very simple
It will be hard for them to replacing the gear knob n parking brake, wasting time and effort for them to make another change or adjustment for the gear knob and parking brake.
Plus, the front seat is electric not mechanical.
*just buy the pickup (like you said), if anyone want a middle seat in front. 🤷🏻♂️
