I loved this man's acting. I thought he was an excellent actor and the Equaliser was one of my favourite shows of all time. Wow!!! I didn't know this man was a singer as well and a brilliant one at that. Sadly missed by all. RIP Edward Woodward.
He was so fantastic as an actor and singer - I have one his albums on vinyl still and it remains one of my favourites because everything he sings is s so heartfelt: just a brilliant artist in every way!
Just learned that he had 12 albums to his credit. Loved his speaking voice, but his singing voice was a complete surprise. So sorry I missed it while he was alive. Loved his work. My favorite part (After the Equalizer was "Father Christmas" in the George C. Scott production of "A Christmas Story". The perfect powerful voice for that character.
He was in a great movie about the Boar Wars called 'Breaker Morant' and sings a song at a dinner party - wonderful! That movie was up for Best Picture and he Best Actor too.
He was on Morecambe and Wise decades ago, singing "the way you look tonight". He introduced me to that song, which I've loved ever since. He and the song are unseparable in my head/heart. I love this video too. Thanks. ❤
Met Mr.Woodward at a resort upstate NY he was on vacation...and in a talent show....trying to cajole a dog into howling by howling at the dog ....the dog was looking at him like he was crazed. Oh to have a camera phone like we have now SOOO conveniently to catch that moment ..this was 1987? He was pleasantly amusing to visit with. He was GREAT ghost of christmas present in christmas carol.
"Breaker Morant" was, I thought, a terrific movie. I don't know why I don't remember Woodward's singing. He was great here. I don't think I've seen the movie since it was in theatres in the '80's.
@@ludmilasakharova5709 Thank you for sending this! In the 89’s the Auzzie’s made some wonderful films. The Man from snowy River, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Gallipoli, and A Town Like Alice to name a few. I went to Australia in 1984 because of these movies. My brother had a girlfriend in Australia back in the 70s.
sorry I am not famiiar with this gentleman but I would be interested in the person who wrote this song. I often wonder what the reason was for this song to be written, the frame of the the writer's mind... Well written.
@@smokeymedic4592 Depends on what your measure of life is, doesn't it? I certainly never cheated on my wife...anyway, I said the hat was silly not him.
My wife loves his voice and his diction when he sings, and he was a marvellous actor as well. sadly missed.
I bought his album way back in the 70s. Wonderful voice. Still makes me cry ❤❤
So beautiful! Gives me chills.

Good grief! He's excellent!
This is the first time I’ve ever heard Edward Woodward sing. Have enjoyed his acting on film and television for years. No I want to hear more.
Saw him as a teenager playingEdga
Me too and i'm in my 70's, i had absolutely no idea what a lovely voice he had.
You would be surprised how many actors and actresses are singers and we don't know about it until much later.
As a kid I just loved the spy series Callan. Woodward’s character by the same name was very understated, yet very dark.
Edward Woodward Brilliant actor and singer.
Christine,
I've seen Edward Woodward in at least a dozen movies from the late 60s and NEVER knew he could sing so beautifully.

I never knew the original Equalizer could sing. Beautiful voice.

He is THE equalizer. Nobody else counts.

Breaker Morant- One if the greatest movies ever! I think he sang the closing song “Soldiers of the Queen”.
Yes, in "Breaker Morant" Woodward sang "Soldiers of the Queen" and "At last" (in the middle of the film).

Stephen Sondheim wrote this song for the Broadway musical "A little night music". More details - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Send_In_the_Clowns.

Watch "Breaker Morant." Great movie
By the way, "Breaker Morant" is one of few movies in which Edward Woodward sings.
He seemed to have always worn that silly hat when not acting.
It's a greek fisherman's cap. He was rich and successful, and I'm 99 percent certain you aren't. So...who's the silly one?
